“4 star hotel?”

When I first checked in the hotel with my wife, we were shocked with the size of the room. It was terribly small. There are even no desk and chair. The bed faces the waschbecken. The glasses are plastic. We have been touring around the world for 20 years and this is the first time we experienced such a 4-star hotel. After I talked to the reception, we were changed to a bigger room (25 m^2) the second day. However, I was told that the most rooms of the hotel are the one we took the first day. For sure I will not recommend this hotel to my friends. Overall, it is at most a 2-star hotel for small rooms and 3-star hotel for bigger room.

“Remarkable location!”

This hotel is located in a wonderful neighbourhood, Eixample. It is just 2 blocks away from Passeig de Gracia, the most elegant Avenue in Barcelona and very close from Casa Mila. The building and decoration is also remarkable.

“Worth staying at if you can get a cheap deal”

Location is key for this hotel, even though it is not particularly central, there are 4 local metro stations, the Sagrada Familia is a 15 minute walk away and the restaurants and cafe's in the immediate area are very cheap and serve a wide variety of food, especially the Muscle specialist restaurant on the same corner as the hotel to the west. The rooms are small but very comfortable with everything you need and a fairly cheap mini bar (which can double up as a fridge to store water etc.). Bed was very comfy! Air-con in rooms is pleasant. Make sure the blinds are closed before getting changed as your room will most likely be facing other rooms!

Area recommendations

Las Rambla, for the shops and stalls, most of which are incredibly cheap for a British traveller and are amazing to look around. Aslo for all the bars and clubs on the streets surrounding the Barri Gotic, cheap, air conditioned and very friendly. Port Vell, just a beautiful port where you could easily waste hours just watching fish in the marina. Sagrada Familia, full of tourists but Gaudi's architechture is simply incredible.

“Upscale neighborhood near Sagrada Familia. Caters more to European and business guests.”

The hotel is located in a quieter, residential neighborhood near the Sagrada Familia and the Passeig de Gracia business district. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Placa Catalunya and La Rambla. There are good tapas restaurants nearby that are primarly freqented by locals, instead of tourists. The hotel seems to cater to a business and European clientele and doesn't have many ammenities for the tourist. There is no health club, concierge or business center. Rooms are basic, but comfortable.

“Gem of a find!”

Dec. 2009 - We have just returned from spending 6 days in Barcelona at 987 Barcelona Hotel and were so very pleased with the hotel. We found it online through Expedia and got a good deal being offseason. Initially entering the hotel because of the magenta lighting in the lobby, we had our doubts but they were quickly dispelled. Our room was modern and well laid out and very clean. The staff at the hotel, particularly the front desk were amazing and very helpful. The hotel seemed to attract more sophisticated travellers and business people and we enjoyed the guests we met. The hotel is located in a more upscale area and within walking distance of most tourist attractions. We would delighted with every aspect of the hotel and would definitely stay there again if in Barcelona.

“Hotel 987 Barcelona - Convenient Location, Satisfactory Hotel”

A nice low-key no-frills hotel located conveniently in between the Gucci on Passeig de Gracia and La Sagrada Famila. The hotel's number one feature is it's location. No concierge, but the front desk is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and tidy. Nothing negative to say...exactly what I expected (no more and no less).

“Better than i expected.”

The hotel is conveniently located and the room is very clean and comfortable. My only beef is the hotel service when we checked in. There is no porter available and we have to carry our luggages to o.ur room. Aside from that the hotel front desk staff are very friendly and helpful.

“Great location helpfull staff”

Hotel is conveniently located close to Sgrada Familia and other Gaudi's buildings. Close to Metro. Great breakfast. Very helpful English speaking staff. Good size rooms, big and very clean bathrooms. Lobby needs a fresh coat of paint. Overall very pleasant experience.

“Lovely hotel, nice location, quiet street”

987 was a great place for us to stay. It was easy walking distance from a number of sights, while still being on a relatively quiet street. The room was super quiet, even though it was facing the street and there was a crane at the building across the street one of the days we were there. It is not super luxurious or anything, but clean, comfortable and boutiquey. I would stay there again.
