“Beautiful pool!”
We checked in after midnight and the hotel staff was waiting for us. The walk to our room was a little long to avoid the stairs with our luggage. Thank goodness we had a guide. Our room was spacious and clean. The AC took a while to cool down the room. We loved the patio off the bedroom that overlooked the pool. It had comfortable chairs and a small table. Too bad we were there for only 1 night. The pool was beautiful and had flowering landscape around the long pool that lead to the beach. We walked on the beach in the morning and it was clean and not crowded. Also they had a security man on the beach. We had breakfast at the patio restaurant that overlooked the pool. It was nothing fancy, just muffins, cereal, and fruit. This would get old if you are here all week. The hotel staff was helpful and always available. They suggested a great local place for lunch. I would stay here again!
“Would look around more next time.”
The hotel was comfortable and the location is wonderful. The place could use a little TLC though. Don't be confused by the breakfast, only cold cereal, pastries, toast and coffee were in the "included" the rest of the buffet was extra and not told to us the night we checked in. We were charged a full buffet price because we had some fruit and scrambled eggs. Not a warm welcome.
“Cool looking hotel that used to be a plantation estate.”
We stayed for 2 nights. The staff was professional and courteous and we were upgraded to a king-bed. Our room had a nice lounge area outside that was right beside the meandering pool. The AC worked great. We ate the continental breakfast as we didn't feel the upgraded breakfast was worth the extra cost. Generally, the food is expensive in restaurants along the South Coast. Dinner at the beach bar worked for us since the food was good and reasonably price. Lounging on the beach or by the pool was very enjoyable. The hotel has flight crews staying who may be partying during their stay. The beach at the hotel was not great for swimming, but we went closer to the Hilton where the beach was much better. We walked to Carlisle Bay which was a nice walk along the beach.
“Great relaxing stay!"”
Everything was wonderful as far as the accommodations and the employees, it was very enjoyable. The location was pretty good, some restaurants walking distance, but not lots to see around there, although, very conveniently located to catch a bus into the city. Overall it was a great experience.
“The jury's out.....”
This was our second stay at the Savannah. The hotel is most beautiful, with the architect having taken full advantage of a sloping location to create a stepped effect down to the sea, and many rooms having fine views and great balconies. There is clever use of water and plants throughout, and the older buildings are well integrated into the new. The restaurant has stunning views. However the new management of the restaurant has yet to work out how to operate it effectively. There was continuous confusion about what did and did not constitute the prepaid continental breakfast, staff seemed less on the ball than last year and a fairly unimaginative menu meant that in the evening a place that should have been packed - for its location if nothing else - was almost empty. The Savannah needs to sort this out quickly.
“Savanna Hotel - Barbados”
“People vary nice, but avoid the hotel restaurant: expensive and not good at all”
The people at the hotel were very nice. Despite that the place is not the newest one, the rooms are ok: clean, confortable, and have been recently refurnished. Cannot say the same about the restaurant and related services: expensive and the food was not good. Specially the room service menu! As for the complementary continental breakfast, as the week passed you could actually see how they would be running out of things, so the muffins you liked the first day would be over the second one ... and so on. I saw a room service tray stay outside a room for 3 days ... nobody seem to be responsible for taking care of that. In general terms I would say the place is ok, as long as you have your meals somewhere else.
