“Wonderful in every way”
The high standard of service, amenities and management of this hotel, combined with its perfect beach, made my business trip to Barbados more like a holiday in Paradise!
“Fabulous hotel - our 8th visit in 4 years!”
We love Hilton B's so much, this was our 8th visit! We also met other repeat guests-which says something! Cons: *We were unlucky this time as we had ants which was awful but the cleaners did an amzing job and got rid of them. *Location isn't great without a hire car if you want to get out to try different restaurants, though taxis are VERY reasonable. T/fer from the airport used to be around £10-£12 or so but we have more recently opted to get a hire car as we do get fed up with the VERY pricey American food - lots of chips, lack of fruit and veg particularly at poolside bar. *However, lots available in the Lighthouse for breakfast and Dinner but again, very pricey. For 2adults, b/fast was costing ~£35 in total each day for as much as you can eat American Breakfast, but a plus if you have any under 5s, as they eat free, everywhere on site.Has sometimes worked out cheaper for us to get a b/fast incld package, but not this time. *BA Crew stay there and can be quite rude and dominate the place Pros: *Excellent quality of food *Excellent choice at breakfasts *Friendly staff; many of whom remembered us. *Excellent pools; towel service & always enough sunbeds *Loved Kid's club & SONIA but PLEASE make one for under 4s as I have to accompany my daughter and it would be good to benefit from some 'child free' time too! (We are considering elsewhere with younger kid's club for next year but ONLY for this reason - it would make the HILTON perfect for us and others I met!)
“Needles Point Weekend at the Hilton.”
After 5days in an all-inc we opted to move. These are great but you feel tied. We opted to go to a hotel nearer to Bridgetown. A quick scan of Expedia and the Hilton jumped out as the hotel giving us the option to travel into town or elsewhere on the South of the island. This hotel did not disappoint. After spending many nights in Hiltons, the chain does suffer from inconsistency. Some are better than others. Fortunately, this is one of their newer units and it shows. We were met with some Punch and checked in efficiently even though a flightcrew of an airline were also there. There was a delay to our room but this was countered with some free drink vouchers. A few minutes later we were shown to our room; a view of the sea, spacious and a fantastic bathroom. Important when travelling with your girlfriend! The facilities were fantastic. 2 great pools and a large area of beach with staff to provide free loungers and brollies. The buffet breakfasts were pretty standard although I can't comment on the other meals as Town and the Gap are both 10mins taxi away. The only negative was on Sunday. The hotel gets busy as it opens to non-residents. For us this meant queuing 20mins for breakfast and there were no beach towels or loungers available. However, a stop in their great pool/beach side bar and 20 mins later new towels and loungers became available. Overall we had a brilliant weekend and I'd fully recommend it, especially if you can get the rates that we got through expedia!
“Amazing hotel, great beach and staff”
amazing wonderful experience.. beautiful corner room .. staff super friendly, def go there again .. def stay at the same hotel.. oh and great almost private beach
“Very efficient hotel”
Stayed at this hotel between 15-23 Sept 2011. The hotel is by far the largest in the whole of Barbados. It is a very clean, friendly and fantastic hotel. The staff are friendly and approachable. The concierge is also very helpful and provide good advice. The rooms are cleaned to the highest of standards. It is perfectly located at Needham's point. It is about a 5-10 min drive to St Lawrence Gap. All the top quality restaurants (Picses, Apsara, Fusion, Brown Sugar, etc) are located very closely. Also Habour Lights nightclub is a 2 min cab drive away, Acra Beach and Boatyard is about 5-10 mins away. Perfect holiday and perfect hotel. Thank you Hilton Barbados.
“Fantastic hotel in all respects”
Hhe hotel was very nice, rooms were great and the staff were very friendly. Some people have commented on the price of meals, but I thought that the prices were OK, especially considering that the quality is very good. We ate at the restaurants a few times and the food was always very nice. Within a 20 minute walk away from Bridgetown along the main road (where the buses go), you can also find Mama Mia, which is a great Italian restaurant. The owner (or co-owner perhaps) is from Naples and they bring in proper Italian ingredients, so the food is exactly what you would find in Italy. Fantastic. Brown Sugar has been mentioned a few times in other reviews and is also great. We also took the white ZR vans (which go along the main road very frequently) to St Lawrence Gap and Oistins a few times. Great food there too.
“A decent choice consierding the other hotels.”
My wife and I wanted a Caribbean vacation, so we could enjoy some sun, sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters. We did. However, having travelled extensively to the Caribbean, please be warned that Barbados ought to be dubbed as "Pirate Island". It is extremely expensive for what you get in return. There are much more affordable choices one can go with for a holiday destination. As for the Hilton Barbados, a very decent 4 star hotel that is relatively good value for money. They could do with some new chefs though. If you have already booked and your are going, then take some extra credid cards and cash. Oh, Cool Runnings Catamaran lunch & snorkeling tour is the only experience we found worth the money we spend. They are fantastic!!! I will miss that experience, but not Barbados as a vacation choice.
“Hilton-Barbados”
The fantastic beach and lovely staff are the winning formula for this hotel. The Grille is a lovely but expensive meal and the buffet style main restaurant has a great choice. The pool area is ok but they need to address the age old problem of people coming down at dawn and putting towels on chairs and disappearing until mid morning! Why not use the pool staff as the only ones who can allocate chairs on a first come basis which is a successful system used at a Hyatt I stayed at.Great location for St Lawrence gap restaurants and bars and Bridgetown. Would go back.
“Hilton Barbados - Good for families, quiet for couples”
We enjoyed our one week stay in Barbados very much. The Hilton probably just squeezes the 4* rating. I know it was out of season but I found the poolside bar to close early and there was not much 'atmosphere' in the hotel. But, the room (executive) was clean and tidy and pretty big (if a little conservatively decorated) and the staff were always polite and helpful, if a little slow if you were thirsty. I can imagine that it is a good hotel if you have kids and the food was adequate if a little expensive (so we ate out most nights, even if it cost more as the quality is better) and expensive taxis are required to get to the West Coast (highly recommended for food and turtle beaches etc). This is probably over harsh as a young couple is probably better suited elsewhere and if we had a child or two, we would almost certainly be raving about it and the convenience of all the facilities. To be fair, the gym is actually excellent, if you are into that sort of thing on holiday (hangs head in shame). We can recommend the Hilton and have no particular bones to pick with them. But, as with most Hiltons, you know what you are getting and it isn't world beating, but it also isn't cheap.
“Paradise Pursued”
Faultlessly friendly and professional staff who are a credit to the hotel. The hotel itself sits on a perfect location and has wonderful amenities which provided my wife and I with the most relaxing of holidays. If I am to find fault it would be that the cleaning of debris from the beach could be a bit more thorough especially when one considers that it is a site that turtles apparently bury their eggs. Perhaps this is something that the hotel management can look closer at because there was only one bin on the beach and on quite a few occassions I witnessed the ignorant just leaving thier debris behind, the majority of which was plastic cups, straws and cigarette butts. I have stayed at other resorts where cup like ashtrays are provided at the entrance to the beach with a kindly reminder to return them on leaving, if smokers had this facility available I'm sure it would go a long way towards addressing this problem.
