“Basic, but great location”
I found the hotel to be clean and very functional. The pool area was nice but the beach availability was limited. The staff was very proficient but not very outgoing. The food was good but not anything I got excited over. The thing that makes this hotel is it's location. You can walk into Holetown and all the restaurants and shops. With the new mall openning across the street, it will be the best location on the west coast.
“Wonderful value”
Discovery Bay has a slightly funky charm, great character and service. It is right on the beach, within walking distance of several great restaurants and a shopping center. Our room had an ocean view, more than worth the few extra dollars. The pool is fine, the poolside bar busy day and night serving thirsty Brits. Be warned that the only internet access is in the lobby (wireless) but it was fine.
“Hey, It's two and half stars.”
The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was average. We had the all- inclusive package, so what the food lacked , we made up in drinks.
“Quiet hotel”
Stayed at Discovery Bay for a week at the end of January. Were slightly concerned at some of the reviews we had read but on the whole the hotel was not bad with a nice beach . We paid extra for a large sea view room which was pretty comfortable. The food choice was limited and we ate out a few times - this is probably the one main complaint. The hotel did not have pc's to access the net on-site but there was a place in Holetown Mall. I mentioned to the manager that many guests would expect to be able to surf the net at the hotel (there was wifi if you had your own laptop) and he said they had plans to introduce the service. If you want a quiet break then this is the hotel for you - if you want something more lively then you're better off elsewhere. Likewise if food is your thing then again I'd try somewhere else. We did find the best coffee shop ever in Speightstown - a tiny little place between two buildings but with the most magnificient beach out back and great coffee! Take the local buses - cheap and frequent with very helpful locals to help you get on/off at the right place.
“small, friendly and very good food with a great variety”
if you are loioking for a quiet friendly relaxing retreat with a great beach try this resort people looking for night life and activities will not want to be here but it is perfect for relaxing and reading
“Holiday at Discovery Bay Rex”
The hotel has surely seen better days but the room was clean and comfortable. My husband and I chose the all inclusive package and we really got value for the money spent. The staff were nice and helpful and the grounds were well kept. We made friends with a nice English couple and that made the trip even more enjoyable. The holiday was quite relaxing and informal which is exactly what we wanted and we will return someday.
“très bon rapport qualité prix”
hotel ancien mais très bien entretenu. Personnel très professionnel, disponible et agréale. Chambre bord de mer très agréable, surtout pour la vue, super couvhé de soleil. Calme, détente, clientèle agréable. Hotel très bien situé et bien déservi. Repas variés et bons.
