“We felt like staying more.”

It worths the value of the money. The entire hotel is conducive. It is situated on a lovely beach side. Infact, you don't need to leave the hotel environment because you have everything you need at your finger tip. The entire staffs are also very friendly and welcoming. I don't usually write reviews about things like this but Bougainvillea worths more than that. My wife said whenever she is coming again, she will not hesitate choosing this hotel.

Area recommendations
Oiston. It is a very quiet and peaceful area where u can actually enjoy the lovely weather and atmosphere. Moreover it is not far from BGI airport.
Getting there
On getting to Grantly Adams International airport, I felt the warm welcoming of the people and the atmosphere was also friendly. I did not feel like being away at all. People over there were so helpful and easy to approach. My wife also felt at home. You just need to feel free to move around and ask for help if need be.

“Will go back”

This is not the fanciest hotel we have ever visited but the people at all levels could not have been more accommodating, more dedicated to handling our every request or more pleasant to deal with. The room was not the most lavish but provided more than enough space, completely clean and comfortable. When we return to Barbados you will find us at the Bougainvillea.

The location was great, lots of buses, car service, you can go where ever you wanted. The hotel had a beach, lots of pool space. It never seemed crowded. Happy hour was the best. My room had two balcanys, large kitchen, large bedroom, living room. It was perfect, I will be back.

“Family friendly”

We took our 10 and 12 year old with us. This was a perfect hotel. I wished I had caught the free shuttle to the market, though. There was a full kitchen, perfect for our quick breakfast so that we can eat out for lunch and dinner. We did find a big store on Friday and ate in to save a little money. The hotel was close to the bus and Oistins, both of which were on our itinerary. If you don't mind walking about 300 yards to the bus, then you're okay. If you get the right person at the Activity Desk who matches your likes and dislikes, then great. Advice: do not change US dollars at the hotel. The locals will change your dollars at $2 BBD for every $1 while the hotel will give you $1.98 or a bit less and an exchange fee. Everyone took US dollars. No need to exchange money which will cost a service fee. Loved our trip. Everyone at the hotel was so nice. The beach was small but beautiful and clean.

Area recommendations
Folkstone Beach for snorkeling practice, not crowded, and clean - walk to Holetown in 5 minutes for great restaurants (and shopping if you want - we did not). Oistins on a non-Fri night so that it's not crowded. Rented a car to Bath, Bathsheba on East Coast - worth the $70 rental (so easy with the hotel). AVOID Mullins Beach (dirty, small, crowded - it was strange in a bad way and not like anything else we've seen.
Getting around
Bus is easy along west coast - just let the drivers know where you want to stop and they will shout it out and stop, bus ride is 5 minutes to Oistins for the grilled fish, rent a car for a day trip to East Coast.
Must see
Folkstone Beach for off-beach snorkeling, Holetown, Browne's Beach (Bridgetown) for the turtles and yachts and ships anchored off shore, Bath for the only Atlantic swimming beach (it was lovely), and Bathsheba (won't take you long to see it since it's a small beach).
Family-friendly activities
Go with Jammin' for the catamaran 5-hour morning snorkeling cruise. It's kid-friendly (lots of kids on it), endless drinks (we stuck to punch and juices), hot lunch, and the crew was outstanding in their infinite energy and they all seemed happy.

“Children welcome”

This was our first holiday trip with our 3 month baby and our 4 year old boy. I was fearing I wouldn't be able to rest and enjoy the beauty of Barbados, but the hotel is totally kids friendly. My 4 year old boy had the best time in the kiddie pool and we could confortably watch him while having a drink by the pool bar. They have a kids club and other ammenities with children in mind, and you know: an entertained child also means a relaxed parent. Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. If any thing, the food at lanterns, one of the restaurants, wasn't that good for the price. But the room we booked had a full kitchen so we cooked our meals most of the time. Oh, no elevators, which can be challenging at times. But in short, a great experience. Definitely going back there.

“Fantastic service”

The staff were very courteous, helpful and friendly. The communal areas were clean. The smimming pools were great for both children and adults, swimmers and non swimmers. The hotel is located practically by the beach and the beach was never overcrowded. You could get a complimentary surf board (boogie board) and this greatly added to the fun. I would definitely go there again.

Getting around
They drive on the left side of the road, same as in the UK. The roads are well maintained so ladies do not need to worry about getting their hair dusty. The indegenes are polite and courteous.
Family-friendly activities
The safari drive is fun and enables you to know more about the history of the Island

“Pretty good option”

Bougainvillea was a pretty nice hotel, just not quite perfect. The grounds are beautiful, and you have your own private little beach to lay out on and dip in the water. Their watersports desk offered free use of several types of stuff - we even took the snorkels out for the better part of a day elsewhere on the island. You can trade in dirty beach towels for a clean one anytime you like. The room was nicely cleaned daily, had a great view of the pools and ocean - we liked eating breakfast on the balcony each morning. The gym/fitness room like awesome too, just never got a chance to use it. Definitely nicer than most hotels would offer. My only negatives are that the staff (at least front desk and management) kind of make you feel like you need to stay there on the property to use their (overpriced) activities and restaurants. You can find much better activities off-site, and in calmer, clearer waters. We discovered several other restaurants and bars within walking distance (we Loved "Dante Pablos"!). Also, taxis are very expensive and you can easily take the "Zed-R" (small transport vans from the main road) for $1! (hotel would never mention this). Great for getting to Bridgetown, St. Lawrence Gap, and Oistins (good place for a cheap meal, and has ATM and Grocery Stores). So get out and explore!! The area is safe enough, just use common sense, especially at night. We LOVED el Tigre catamaran cruises! and "Fat Jacks" right down the street for a car rental!
