“3rd time, and cant wait to go back!”

I love this hotel, I have stayed 3 times already and will stay when I go back in April 2012. The location is awesome, about 15 minute walk to skytrain, or if you prefer not to walk it in the heat, you can grab a taxi for 50baht. The hotel staff are fantastic, and the rooms are very clean. Great Value for money!

Stay in Silom area! great nightlife, in the middle of most things, and taxi's are very cheap to get anywhere else in the city!

“Good Hotel and Great Location”

I found the Silom City Hotel to be really well located for a short visit to Bangkok. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Sky Train (which seems further in the heat), and a fairly cheap taxi ride to the Grand Palace area. A taxi to/from the airport was about 45 mins to an hour depending on trafic. There were lots of places to eat near by, and a few markets too. Its certainly a great central location. Another big plus for this hotel was its breakfast. Lots of selection. I really enjoyed the breakfast they served downstairs. The hotel was clean, and comfortable, and even had an exercise room with two treadmills which I used. The bathroom furnishings could use an update, but everything was clean, just old. Its a good hotel and great location for the money.

Getting around
Tell the taxi drivers that you want them to turn on the meter. Otherwise the flat rate they offer you will probably be higher than the meter rate. You might have to insist on them turning on the meter, but they will do it. (Note that the taxi from the airport has an extra 50 baht charge, plus you must pay about 45 baht in extra toll charges on top of your meter rate) - Don't believe anyone who tells you that the Grand Palace or Wat Arun or Wat Pho are closed, for any reason. They just want to get you into a gem or suit shop. They'll say the sights are closed but you can take a tuk-tuk to other sights for only 20 or 40 baht. Its all a lie. Just ignore them, even if they have "tourist police" badges or claim to work for the Grand Palace

“feedback - silom city”

It was a very nice experience to stay at this hotel. the staff was very friendly and cooperative.Rooms were comfortable and this was a very central location in bangkok. The hotel lacked a swimming pool which felt like a much needed thing on a vacation , but understanding the property and space issues one can compromise on it. The price to the facilities were appropriately matched. Support staff, at the buffet were very helpful. overall a great experience to stay with

Area recommendations
Being centrally located its very close to the temples and one can also take the temple tour on your own. The hotel did support very well to orgainse the local tours like floating market etc. The prices were decent . We really didnt feel complete valur for money in the half day temple tour we took. Locations like Traditional thai village and erawan museum which are not visitied by many tourist may be done individually. Its very managable distance and is a place worth visiting. MBK Mall , Bioksky and Underwater world Siam are also worth visiting.
What to pack
Keep some table salt handy , especially people from India may feel so.some packed Indian snacks and lots of water.

“Great satisfaction”

Lovely hotel, I stay there every time I go to BKK. The staff is friendly, genuine, and professional always prepared to help. Breakfast buffet and wifi is included in price and I especially appreciated 2 glass bottles of water in room free of charge. Journey from the airport takes about 30 min (taxi) at off peak times.The area is quite touristy, near Silom road, busy street with large number of international hotels which could be a positive as well as a negative, depending what you are looking for. Many good restaurants around some only 5 or 10 min walking. Also the next street has plenty of street vendors selling fruit, drinks and dishes all pretty cheap. Night market is only minutes away so you don't need to pay for a taxi. I wold definitely stay there again.

Dining
Siom house next to the hotel is a small restaurant with variety of dishes all costing about 30 - 60 bath. English menu and staff speaks reasonable English too.
Other
Avoid the BOS travel agency which does day trips to various tourist locations at all cost! Those people couldn't organize panic and disaster. We did one day trip of which we spend 10 hours on various buses and vans, mostly waiting for we don't know what, as the guides or driver speak minimum English. Only about 1 and half hour of the whole day was dedicated to sightseeing and lunch - all in 15 on 30 min intervals. 20 min in a museum is just not enough. Find a serious travel agency and give this one a miss.

“Clean, Comfortable and Affordable”

Silom City Hotel is located in the Silom Neighborhood, which is not centrally located but is only blocks from the SkyTrain in Bangkok and within walking distance to the river ferry. It is clean, affordable and offers a nice breakfast each day. A business office with internet is available for free, which is a nice perk.

“Highly recommended”

Highly recommended, had a great stay. Nice sized rooms, good shower and A/C. Reliable wifi. 15 minute walk to MTR. Very helpful friendly staff.

“Great Location, Average Hotel”

The price and location of this hotel is what does it. Silom City is bustling, especially at night, and easy to get to with lots around it. The hotel itself is just OK. Nothing is that great about it; the interior seems tired, the bathrooms are basic. But, it was at least clean, had A/C, TV, a breakfast buffet, and free internet access. Don't expect much, and you'll have a fine time at this hotel.
