“Fantastic, as usual!”

This was our third trip to the Royal Orchid and as usual, it was fantastic. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The new restaurant, Georgia's is great. We will only return to this hotel when we travel to Bangkok.

Silom Paragon shopping area for the food.

Getting around

Use the Sheraton boat to get to the Taksin sky train station then you can travel anywhere.

“Still a great stay on the river”

Very nice, Westernized hotel on the Chao Praya river; all rooms have views. Two great pools, restaurants are decent, prices are in line with what you'd expect for a good quality hotel in Bangkok. Some of their merchants are excellent and have been with them for years. Very close to piers if you'd care to take the river taxi.

“Great Location”

Located right on the Chao Praya river, provides quick and easy access to river taxies, and ferries. Right next door is River City, which has a number of restaruants to choose from if your not after 5 star restaruants. Good quality Hotel as you would expect from the Sheraton chain, good fitness facility overlooking a great pool for doing laps. Would go again if I can secure the right price. Staff were friendly, the hotel had a virtual golf facility where you can practice your game, that was a bonus for me.

Area recommendations

Anywhere on the River would be a good idea. part of the fun in visiting Bangkok are travelling the water ways, such as the Sab Sab taxis along the Canals.

When to go

Along side of the river, there a are a couple of great temples to visit, in fact on opposite sides of the river from each other. China town is okay, just remember small laneways and lots and lots of people, but you can buy almost anything you want. Negotiate a tour of the rivers (2 of us cost two thousand baht) it is great to see how people live and the fabric of daily life. Take a trip to visit the fortune tellers (palm reading, numbers, tarot cards) not far from the golden temple, always fun to see what they say. Sunday Market is a must, bigger than ben hur, and truly you can buy almost anything. Have a great time, I did.

“Enjoyable and Quiet but Easy Access to Transportation”

There are many good and convenient hotels in zbangkok, but the Royal Sheraton continues to be an enjoyable one. Being on the river gives it a special feeling and the fact that every room has a river view is unique. Good service, clean rooms, diversity of cuisine and a relaxing environment are hallmarks of the hotel. Riding a boat to the BTS may not be for everyone, but it is a real treat and nice change of pace for most.

“Great hotel for first time in Bangkok”

Our check in from the airport was really quick and efficient, and we were impressed with the river views room. Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay, including the meals, river boat to the sky train station and the general amenities available. We would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and would stay there again when we next visit. We also booked a city tour of temples and palaces which, while it was hot and humid weather-wise, was very informative with an English speaking guide. For our short stay, that was an ideal way to see the main tourist attractions in a day.

“excellent hotel”

Excellent stay swift check in even thugh it was only 10am in the morning. Up grade to an executive room. Our friends had cake delivered to their room as it was their birthdy. Great location on the river. The windows full glass offered fantastic views. Right on pier 3 so you coulkd get the express boat to other piers very easy. The htel free boat took only 7 minutes to the pier which connects to the sky train.Swimming pool has good views over the river. Would deffinately stay there again.

Area recommendations

Would depend on what you want to do in the city. If you want to explor the river and the temple and palace stay right on the river.Very easy to get around and quickly by river.

The restaurant le table de tee is wounderful. You would not stumble across this place. We booked before we left home. Fantastic food, service good and presentation wonderful. Set menu with choices 5 course for 900 bart plus tax.The drinks were about the prices anywhere else however the quality of the wine was good and so vere the cocktails.This was the best food we had in the entire stay in Thailand.

Nice view from the rooms but the rooms have no balcony. The hotel and the restaurant area is always very crowded, more like a business hotel...

“Nice stay”

The hotel is very nice and value for money. The rooms are clean, the two pools are very nice and the location very central. The hotel staff is very friendly and the hotel well maintained. The rooms are quite big and the Deluxe rooms come often with a spacious bathroom.
