“Absolutely fantastic!”

We stayed at the Chatrium with three children and we all LOVED IT! The staff were very courteous. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choices on offer including bacon, eggs as you preferred, pastries, fruit, cereal, Asian foods-dim sims,POWs,Chinese porridge, chefs on hand to cook you your choice of omletes, hot pancakes to order, sushi, fresh fruits, even the fussiest would find something there! Alfresco eating near the river is lovely and peaceful. I was amazed it could be like this in a Bangkok hotel and I think this is the advantage of staying in riverfront as opposed to inner city hotel The pool was sparkling and huge ,my guess 35x15m with a infinity edge overlooking the river.Priceless views to relax to. Spa the same and also a toddlers pool. Tons of recliner chairs around the pool but also in separate areas around the other side or near the pool bar as well. We stayed on the 19 th floor. High recommend the river view rooms as absolutely fantastic views.so peaceful and quiet in the mornings, sparkling views at night were magical when the kids are asleep. . This was perfect for our family The hotel was quiet when we stayed which was very nice for us But the amenities, staff and location are all superb and deserve to be well booked as it would be a pity for such a well run business/establishment to suffer from being under patronized. Look at the room rates - they over fantastic value for money and 5 star hotel service.

Area recommendations
Getting around very easy as the hotel has a free shuttle boat that will take you to the overhead train/river ferry connecting point. Easy to get on the mrt and into town for shopping. Recommend catching a fast water taxi to the grand palace at least in one direction as a fun experience, the kids loved this ride. Aka a slower jet boat ride with some bumps from cresting other boats wakes to liven things up. Cost us 600bht but worth itWe will definitely stay here again next time. Don't waste your time at other hotels which are not as peaceful unless you are single and want to party near the red light district.

“Outlook over Bangkok”

I have been to numerous hotels in Thailand, each have their own character. The Chatrium Riverside is more expensive but the service is surely worth it. The rooms are very nice and for an up charge you can have a great river view.

“Great hotel on river”

We were in Bangkok during the flooding & the hotel upgraded us to a suite (probably due to cancellations do to the flooding.). Great hotel on the water with a water taxi to the main pier.

“Very quiet, away from crowds but easy access by complimentary shuttle boat”

Very Quiet hotel. River view was amazing. Good service. Breakfast was great. Took complimentary hotel shuttle boat all the time. Close to Sky train stxn and to Central Pier where you take cruises. Used hotel entrance only at arrival and departure to airport, rest of movements by shuttle boat pier. Rooms were cleaned daily. Staff very helpful and always smiling and with Thai greeting. Hotel has no night clubs, good for families with kids but not attractive to young people. At arrival I showed them Expedia reservation and checked into room within minutes. They even gave me a free upgrade to a suite. Good value for money. Although it rained a lot during our stay but we enjoyed watching the rain fall on the river. I will stay again during my next trip to Bangkok

Go to Siam Area. You will find yourself in middle of several shopping malls

Just watch out of Tuc Tucs. They trick you into taking you to places where you are pushed by their sales people to buy their stuff. And if you don't buy they even harras you for not buying. Tuc Tucs drive dangerously and it is too low that you don't see much of where you'r going. When Tuc Tuc brings you back the driver cries ofr you for extra Bahts. In over all it is an experience and although driver ripps you off it is still little money that is worth the experience

“Central location yet quiet beautiful surroundings”

I have just spend 1 week at this hotel. Clean modern hotel. Wonderful breakfast which is included in price. Located on the river and there is free hotel shuttle to central pier and access to most tourist attractions by speed boat or skytrain. Avoiding traffic and taxis . Taxi was a nuisance they try to cheat taking you around not the short way or charging more.

“the hotel is ok with some improvement areas”

We stayed for 4 nights in July 2011 based on the reviews from Tripadvisor and Expedia. The hotel is connected via their own shuttle boat from the nearest sky train station (Saphan Taskin). We like the tranquility of the place - a big contrast to those in the city of Bangkok. We booked a Grand room with river view which is the standard river view room. The room is spacious enough with a small kitchenette which is very handy. The shower is not very well kept - we could see mold developed along the edge. Some hangers in the wardrobe have not been used for a long while and hence were quite dusty. Other than these, the room is generally fine. Breakfast - more than enough but I won't say enormous, particularly comparing to those we have been before. But you will find a selection of both continental and International food - e.g. scrambled eggs, bacon, salad and fruit bar, cooked noodles, fried rice, pancake, omelette, sausage and conflakes etc etc...... One main drawback is the internet access - there is no wi-fi access included in our package (unless you stayed on the Club floor) and the cost of a 24-hour pass is about 300 baht!!! Bangkok is unlike Hong Kong where you will find lots of free wi-fi points easily. Even in shopping centres like Siam Paragon you still have to pay. So we did find it a big drawback for us. the staff is generally fine. Overall I would recommend it but we would try other places next time when we're in Bangkok.

Area recommendations
Go to Robinson Dept Store next to the Saphan Taksin station - there is a supermarket downstairs where we shopped for drinks and snacks. We also bought a couple of handbags from the dept store.
Getting around
Travelling from the airport - if you're planning to use the train service, there are two lines running from the airport: City line and the Airport Express Line. Both run on the same track but one is a local line which stops at every station (which takes about 30-40 mins for the whole journey and costs 45 baht) whilst the other goes all the way to the end (which takes 15 mins and costs 90 baht for a single trip and 150 baht for a return which is valid within two weeks). We took the Express line from the airport as we didn't see the other one which is in fact only several yards away but is quite hidden. We we returned to the airport, we took the Cityline from the same station (i.e. Phaya Thai) and found it equally comfortable.

“Service with a Smile”

Chatrium Suites was our third hotel stay during a 2 week trip to Thailand. It was the last stop but not the least. The staff were so courteous and helpful throughout our stay in Bangkok and made a world of difference to our trip. (I must note how serious they are about their jobs and doing better-I ended up double charged for a meal at the restaurant-quick email to Managers resolved the issue in two days, they also requested feedback on my time spent there which I was more than happy to give). The hotel itself is very clean, well equipped gym and the pool area is lovely. Location is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, by the riverside with a convenient shuttle service less than 10 minutes away from a main pier and the sky train (About 20 minutes by boat to Wat Arun and Pho). No problems with taxis finding the hotel as we always had the map with directions in Thai provided by Chatrium. The buffet breakfast selection was vast, well presented and tasty. We were offered an upgrade and ended up on the 19th floor. Great views of the river. Very interesting to watch the action day and night on the river. I most definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there if/when we return to Bangkok.

Area recommendations
Rattanakosin Island to visit the popular Wats, China Town for bargains galore and Siam Square just because it is Siam Square!

“A HOTEL THAT COULD REALLY TAKE YOU OFF BUT WITH A BAD LANDING.”

I must empasise the fact that I stayed at the other Chatrium residence a year ago so I can compare in a way both of them. Defently the manager of the Chatrium suites has a diferent philosophy than the other one to whom I had spoken in person. Although the hotel has the comfort and the 41/2 stars represent it in a way, there, are a few things that are anoying everybody except the manager. Internet for 321 bhat per day? The solution? 300 meters away right by the main street, 12 baht per hour and much faster too. Evening Bufet, excellent variety but with the same money you eat at a restaurant by the river two people and you been served and treated like a king instead of wondering around with your plate for self service. The views from the windows are spectacular, comparing with its brother hotel. The staff DOES NOT SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH,IN FACT ONLY KEY PERSONELL LIKE ONE RECEPTIONIST,the Restaurant manager,Mr Thapat if I spell his name correctly, a person that you would go back to this hotel only to meet him again.Extremely friendly and helpfull. Both establishements were for differnt reasons better from each other in a few occasions. But the difference in price, I dont think its justified.Lastly there is near by and exactly opposite from the internet cafe, a massage shop specialising in Thai massage. Not to be missed.

Area recommendations
Shopping around Bangkok can be really a different of the shopping we acustomed at home.Negotiations its always a must between you and the shoper. Siam paragon probably the biggest shopping mall in the world. Just be prepared to spend. Patong night market also an unforgetable experience with all the good imitation clothes accesories and jewllery.
When to go
Well best advise ? look at the dry season of the country to avoid the rainy season.June - December I think its the best.
Dining
Many excellent restaurants by the river, also book a dinner inside a boat, try traditional dishes maily fishes and soups that are heavenly tasty.
