“Rest and Relaxation”

Travemunde is the gateway to Scandanavia on the Baltic Sea. This town is very cute with alot of history and just 20 mins by Train from the Unesco listed Lubeck and 1 hour from Hamburg. If in the warmer months you are after some time to relax with sea, surf and sand and many cafes and restuarants then this is the place to be. Maritim Strandhote​l Travemuend​e is every bit the 4 stars it is rated. From customer service, room facilities and hotel services nothing is questionable. The port is very busy with many ships coming and going. The only concern is that you need to pay to use the beach which is not friendly to me as a tourist.

Area recommendations
Make sure you go to Lubeck and do the open top bus tour and / or the river cruise. The only issue we had was neither had English translation.

“Great views though a little tired!”

Stayed here for a weekend in December - booked very early and got a stunning rate through Expedia. I had a corner bedroom, almost a suite with views over the river and towards the Baltic. With snow on the ground it was very picturesque. Hotel is very luxurious but if I was to be picky, I would say the room needed updating (my hand basin was cracked and the shower was difficult to point where I wanted it). That said, the room was enormous, comfortable and with extras like robes and some fruit. I would certainly stay there again and recommend it. Friendly staff and great service.

“Schöner winterurlaub (unvergesslich)”

Sehr netter check in, mit Informationen über alles Notwendige (Parken in der Tiefgarage, benutzung des Aufzuges, Frühstück etc.) Toller Aufenthalt, daher um einen Tag verlängert (obwohl dies doppelt so teuer, als bei Expedia war). Insgesammt sehr empfehlenswertes Hotel, trotz Standardzimmer hatten wir Blick aufs Meer und ein Zimmer im 5ten Stockwerk. Landschaftlich natürlich unübertroffen '(auch in der winterlichen Jahreszeit) und eine schöne Wiederkehr, nach Lübeck. Zentral gelegen und nach Lübeck nur eine kurze Strecke. Habe in Lübeck studiert und das Hotel immer nur von außen sehen können, Ist natürlich schon etwas älter, aber für diesen Preis einfach nur super. ich werde mit meiner Freundin jedenfalls wieder dort buchen, diesmal jedoch in einer wärmeren Jahreszeit.

Area recommendations
Empfehle natürlich Lübeck mit seiner tollen Altstadt und Weihnachtsmarkt. Neustadt lohnt sich zu einem Kurzaufenthalt natürlich auch. Grömitz, Scharbeutz und Timmendorf sind natürlich als TourismusGebiete bekannt und wunderschön. Sealife in Travemünde war toll, jedoch etwas teuer.
When to go
Wir waren vor Weihnachten dort, um den Lübecker Weihnachtsmarkt und den Strand bedeckt mit Schnee zu sehen. Im sommer ist es aber auch super dort.
Must see
Lübeck und auch Hamburg sind nicht die entferntesten Ziele, welche man auf jeden Fall besuchen sollte. Wer aus dem Westen kommt , kann bei seiner Anreise mit dem PKW auch noch einen Abstecher nach Bremen machen (wie wir). Grömitz ist aufjedenfall eine Reise wert, vorallem im Hochsommer. Um auch mal ein etwas anderes Sonnenbad zu nehmen.

“Immer wieder”

Wie immer, sehr erholsamer Aufenthalt. Tolles, einmaliges Panorama im Superior Eckzimmer, allerbestes Frühstücksbuffet und Top Personal - Haben gleich für Jan. noch einmal gebucht. Top Hotel, wenn man einem gewissen Retrolook der 70er durchaus positive Seiten abgewinnen mag.

Area recommendations
Mit der Fähre zum Privall und dann durch MeckPomm, Rostok, Wismar, Schwerin. Unbedingt die einmalige Steilküste / Herrmannshöhe besuchen. Zum Shoppen nach Lübeck oder Kiel. Unbedingt Hafenrundfahrt mit der Maritima oder der Sven Johannsen (3 €) machen.

“Inteligent Ausweichen spart Geld.”

viele Gäste sind heute mit dem Laptop unterwegs. So auch ich aber ich weigere mich schlichtweg für 60 Min 8,00 € zu bezahlen oder für 24 h Flatrate gar 23,00 € zu bezahlen. Das ist einfach zu viel. Was ist die Konsequenz daraus ich frühstücke auch nicht mehr im Hotel und ärgere mich über nicht kross gebratenen Speck und Rührei das schon lange auf mich wartet. Ich frühstücke im Restaurant Cafe Luzifer 1,5 Km Luftlinie entfernt ebenfalls mit tollem Blick über die Trave. Hier warte ich auf ein a la Minute frisch extra für mich gemachtes Omlette und ich surfe nach dem Frühstück kostenlos so lange ich mag im Internet, Angenehmer Nebeneffekt für das Frühstück mit Kaffee, frisch gepressten Orangensaft und Omlette mit Brötchen zahle ich nur die hälfte wie im Maritim und für das Internet gar nichts. Das ich dann dort auch mal zum Abendessen hingehe passiert von ganz alleine.

Area recommendations
Angenehm ist auch das Golfhotel in Timmendorf.
Dining
Restaurant Cafe Luzifer neben der Fähre auf den Privall. Auch das Restaurant Ambiente, auf dem Privall im Rosenhafen gelegen, ist sehr zu empfehlen. Frische Küche, gute Weinauswahl, kompetenter Service und ein toller Blick von der Terrasse (im Sommer) sonst hinter großen Fenstern über die Trave lassen einen die Zeit vergessen.

“Kein 4,5 Sterne Standard”

Das Zimmer war bei Ankunft bezugsbereit - ohne Wartezeit. Da wir ohne Frühstück gebucht hatten, habe ich mich am Buchungstag telefonisch mit dem Hotel in Verbindung gesetzt und erfragt, wieviel das Zubuchen des Frühstücks vor Ort pro Person und Tag kostet. Bei Ankunft verlangte man von uns an der Rezeption über das Doppelte pro Person!!!! Wir fanden dies eine Unverschämtheit. Wir gingen jeden Morgen - nachdem wir ausgeschlafen hatten - direkt in die Fußgängerpromenade ca. 200 m entfernt und haben dort für weniger als ein Viertel gefrühstückt. Das Zimmer war ausreichend groß, geputzt wurde täglich, allerdings als No Go Schimmel in den Badfliesenfugen !!! Mein Mann wollte die Sonnenbank im Wellneßbereich benutzen. Dort stand ein Schild Wertmarken und Sonnenschutzbrillen bekommen Sie an der Hotelrezeption. Auf meine Anfrage erhält man dort nur Wertmarken, meine Frage nach der Schutzbrille wurde abgetan, als ob ich sonst etwas verlangt hätte. Ich wäre die 1. die je danach gefragt hätte. Diese Rezeptionistin war unverschämt und für diesen Hotelsternebereich eindeutig fehl am Platze. Für ein paar Tage Ostseeluft schnuppern lohnt es sich. Strand direkt am Hotel. Fußgängerzone mit allen Dingen des täglichen Bedarfs ca. 200 m am Wasser entlang. Parktiefgarage im Hotel zu teuer - vor dem Hotel öffentlicher Parkplatz mit Tages 24-h Ticket sehr zu empfehlen.

“Un hotel de séniors.”

Hôtel extrêmement bien situé: vues sur la plage ou le port mais dans les deux cas extraordinaire. Tous les restaurants et bars au pied de l'hôtel. Personnel très accueillant. Piscine / Sauna / Hammam pour le bien être. Belle plage juste au pied (la Baltique affiche facilement 20/21°C en été: très supportable pour une baignade tonique). Proche de Lübeck qui est une ville magnifique et à une heure de Hambourg qui vaut le détour (ne pas oublier Wismar, à une heure également). Mais hôtel vieux (enfin ce n'est pas non plus catastrophique...), fréquenté essentiellement par des personnes âgées. Le parking est cher (10€/jour) et le petit-déjeuner hors de prix (20 €/jour, le prix d'un bon repas en terrasse sur le port !). Une bonne rénovation de l'hôtel, une clientèle un peu plus jeune et ce serait le top (ce qu'il a dû être il y a 25 ans).

Area recommendations
- Lübeck (classé Unesco) --> éblouissant - Wismar (également classé Unesco) - Hamboug --> prévoir au moins 2 jours - Timmendorfer pour sa plage, ses cafés, ses restaurants - le port de Travemunde, au pied de l'hôtel: diner en regardant les paquebots passer c'est un vrai bonheur
