Family friendly hotel.

Posted 12-Jul-2014
Stayed in Jacksons several years ago and was very impressed. This time not so much so. We has booked a quadruple room on the 4th floor which I had no problems with. The room had the basic facilities but on 2 occasions we had to ask for towels as they had only left enough for two people and there was four of us - 2 adults and a 15 and 11 year old. There were cobwebs on the walls and the walls were all marked. There were no valance sheets on the bed leaving bare bases on show but the sheets were clean. The bathroom had seen better days and around the plug there were clumps of hair which were there for the two days we stayed. Thankfully we are not bath people but enjoy showers. The gym equipment and pool had definitely seen better days. Having said that the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was beautiful. The downstairs of the hotel could not be faulted.

Overnight Stay.

Posted 08-Feb-2014
Pros: Friendly. Meals in the wonderful Bally Buffet.
Location: Plenty but was restricted in time.
I valued the helpfulness of the staff excellent, in the fact that they took care of my luggage, while I went to the town and was able to attend a business meeting. This meant a great deal to me as I was free to accomplish what I set out to do. Breakfast was superb. Thank you. I would be most delighted to stay with you again in Jackson's, if ever the need arises.

Hotel shows some age and a little wear, but to my wife and I that translated as "character". The staff was top shelf and the owner was personable and involved in all aspects of the hotel operation. The restaurant was wonderful and served the best meal we had on our trip. I would absolutely recommend Jackson's Hotel.

Fantastic Hotel and Staff

Posted 23-Oct-2013
Pros: The cleanliness of the whole Hotel and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
Location: Well located for siteseeing in County Donegal. Irish Famine Museum (Doagh) and Malin Head (Ireland's most northerly point) are must visits!!
Arrived on Sunday night and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who booked me in without any fuss. Made my way to the room on the second floor (using lift facility) and found a clean and acceptable room. When I opened my suitcase, I found that a plastic bottle of lemonade I had stupidly put in there had burst and some of my clothes had got soaked - by the next morning they were showing a "tide mark". I enquired from the staff if there was a laundrette in the town, and they suggested I have a word with their own Laundry/Housekeeping. This I did and they kindly washed and dried the clothes and returned them to my room in a matter of hours - which was greatly appreciated. It was better than sitting watching your clothes going round and round in a washing machine for an hour on the first day of your holiday!! The breakfast which was included in the price was more than ample with the usual selection of Cereals/Fruit/Fruit Juice followed of course by the famous "Irish Fried Breakfast". So far I have eaten in the Restaurant one evening and the Menu was extensive and food cooked to perfection and by Irish standards, reasonably priced.

BUSY HOTEL,

Posted 26-Sep-2013
Pros: Breakfast, entertainment, pool area
Cons: Earlier check in,warm water, average size flat screen tv and bigger double bed
Location: Good location. Only stayed 1 night so didn't explore area just walked up the main street which is right on the doorstep of the hotel.
Stayed at Jacksons Hotel for 1 night (Tuesday). Booked through Expedia and got a good rate. Check in was not until 4pm which was disappointing. Got a room in the old part of the hotel. Room quite big, double bed very small, thank goodness for that single bed. Very small portable tv with snowy picture for BBC1. Water was not very warn, just ok for washing your hands. Used the pool etc which was good, though Jacuzzi was too warm, 39 degrees, could only stay in it for 5 mins. Got the hair washed in the changing rooms didn't fancy using the shower in the room. Entertainment provided by Malcolm was good. Breakfast was good.

Relaxing comfortable hotel

Posted 14-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
I enjoyed my stay a lot. Some areas of the hotel need sprucing up. The bistro and the lounge could do with some upholstery and a bit of paint. The staff are warm, welcoming, chatty and cheerful. Just a nice place to relax, the live music was enjoyable and no so loud as to make conversation impossible. The hotel, music and atmosphere is well suited for middle aged and above couples for a very pleasent, relaxing stay.

Squeaky bed and extremely worn hotel room

Posted 13-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
Clean but very worn, there were 3 of us we literally checked in, tv, bed, up showered and on the road. I'm glad we didn't have a lot of time to kill at he hotel. I definately would think of it as a place to sleep and that is all.

Not for the business traveler

Posted 13-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
Tired decor, laminate flooring in bedroom, breakfast served on small plates, piped music in breakfast room. Suitable as budget accommodation for holiday makers, not for business travelers.
