The hotel was clean, spacious and had very friendly staff who were always smiling and happy to help. The facilities were of a good standard. The rooms had plenty of space with a good bed and a nice balcony with a view of the sea. Lots of room to sunbath outside and 2 minutes from a very nice beach.
We stayed at the hotel at peak time, 1st week of August and though full, it never felt crowded. The hotel is beautifully laid out, very clean with very helpful and friendly staff. There was a good mix of nationalities, no drunken or rowdy behaviour. There was sometimes a short wait for a table during breakfast and evening meals. Can't blame the staff, they were doing their utmost to clear tables and set up for the next family, they just needed a few more hands on deck. There was always plenty of choice during all meals but dinners were never very spiced if you prefer a bit more zing to your food. Plenty of sunbeds by the large freeform pool, the indoor pool was also a nice touch. Beautiful sandy beach was just a two minute stroll down through the hotel. The beach is not a part of the hotel so you do have to pay for sunbeds and parasols (unless you go down after 17.00 by which time the bright orange vested money collector has usually gone for the day). Twee shows in the evening kept us entertained but nobody seems to want to dance after the shows, especially the teens cos they're too busy online using free WiFi in reception! The animation team were very friendly and good fun if you wanted to join in in any of the activities, but they were never in your face or insistent like some can be at other hotels we've been to. Chilled pool bar serving a nice variety of lunch dishes if you're not All Inclusive.
My husband and I took our 15 year old son with us to this hotel, and had a lovely time, the staff and entertainment grooup were great.I would not hesitate in recommending the location, food and entertainment of the hotel. The majority of the hotel guests were german, but we met some really lovely families who could speak english, and they went out of their way to be friendly towards us
When we first booked our stay at the Risco del Gato we immediately trawled through the countless reviews of the resort, trying to find one which had any real criticism. We couldnt find a single one, so we had a pretty good idea that we had chosen well. It certainly lived up to expectations. The resort was all we'd hoped it would be. The apartments were clean, spacious , and the secluded courtyards were wonderful for catching the last hour or so of sunshine each day. The resort itself has a wonderful aura of calm about it. There was no mad scramble for sunbeds, no bunfight in the restaurant (the food was first class), and all of the staff were wonderfully helpful and polite.
If there was anything at all I could change, it would be slightly softer mattresses on the beds (but that's just a personal preference) and maybe a slightly bigger fridge in the apartments, but these really are just minor details. We are already planning another visit here next year. Having visited Fuerteventura several times in the past, no other resort we've visited holds a candle to Risco del Gato.
The food was great. Really good variety and it never ran out.
Room was OK, pretty clean. Nice size. Twin beds. Our fridge didn't work so we asked for a replacement which was quickly done.
We did suffer a bit from general noise. We were on the seventh floor (which is actually the sixth as for some reason there is no second floor) and outside our room there is an opening which let in noise from outside the hotel and the wind - which was constant - was quite noisy. Would recommend any other floor apart form the seventh if you want more quiet.
Staff were friendly and helpful and they accommodated our requests in terms of room location etc but English is limited. The hotel caters primarily to Germans, so English is the third language.
The hotel was relatively quiet. Was some queuing for some of the food at times - Germans seem to love queues more than the English, but this isn't a criticism.
The outdoor pools were large and there were more than enough sun loungers. Unfortunately due to the wind it was really possible to spend much time around the pool so it was pretty deserted. The indoor pool was a godsend.
Overall a pleasant experience.

Sunrise Costa Calma Palace offers luxury accommodation in Costa Calma that is a real treat for your holidays. It does not …More
Great all inclusive deal with varied buffets although not brilliant for vegetarians so I ate a lot of eggs and cheese but
nice salad bar. Great pools and so near to the beach. Relaxing to go to sleep to the sound of the waves. Nice room but with traditionally hard Spanish beds but I have found the same in other Spanish hotels so must be typical. No tea and coffee making facilities in room which was a shame so bring your own travel kettle and tea bags if like me a cup of tea at any point in the day is an essential. There is a fridge in the room and a supermarket a five minute walk away so you could put a bottle of wine in and enjoy it on your patio or terrace in the evening but there is no patio lighting so a few candles might be nicer than relying on the bedroom lights. Some rooms have poor internet signal so I had to come to the main block to go on the internet as room signal was sporadic. This I wouldn't mind but you do have to pay 25 Euros per week for the privilege. Apart from these minor points the stay was wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

All-inclusive hotel with gardens in the resort of Costa Calma, two kilometers from the long white stretch of Sotavento Beach …More
Im used to seeing foreigners spending holidays on the spanish coasts, but Germany took posession of Fuerteventura's beaches for ever. If you want to eat typical canarian food, be in touch with spanish islanders and enjoy the great spanish way of life, dont come here. But if you are german and dont bother learning any spanish word at all (not even "gracias"), you like an old german woman singing every Tuesday and Saturday in the restaurant of the complex traditional german songs, while you enjoy a slice of kattenbrot, thats your place. The beach is close to the hotel, the night is calm (no yongsters around) and you can relax (when the singer's not singing) lying next to the pool.
