"Good hotel used as overnight stop on long journey"
The (air conditioned) room was nicely furnished and the air conditioning was controllable (and could be turned off) on a room basis. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the linen.
The restaurant served excellent food at a reasonable price and the buffet breakfast, with cooked food and bottomless coffee cups was value for money.
The hotel was very difficult to find and the grounds were completely weed filled. The cleanliness is surface so don't look in the corners. Our room was the smallest I've ever been in especially the bathroom. You had to back in to use the toilet. The bed was just a foam pad on top of a frame. The bedding was clean and sufficient. The extra pillow was flat and stained. The breakfast was basic even for France and completely picked over an hour before it was done.

Lovely little apartment with microwave, fridge, basic cooking facilities and utensils. The air conditioning was very much appreciated. Loved eating the breakfasts outside on the terrace and being able to help ourselves to more if we wanted. The staf were fantastic - so helpful. During a thunderstorm when we couldn't get out the helpful Receptionist rang for a Pizza for us. Only disadvantage was it's a little way out of the old city so a car would be useful. However we walked in every day (about 20mins) or there is a regular bus service - it meant the hotel was very quiet at night. Would strongly recommend.

This is a nice hotel run by gracious people with a very convenient location adjacent to the Avignon Central (but not the Avignon TGV!) train station.
There are, however, two issues about which a prospective traveler should be aware.
First, my room (and I think all of the rooms, judging from a floor map I looked at) was very small. Submarine small. I was impressed they were able to get as much stuff into a room that size.
Second, the hotel is located RIGHT NEXT TO the railroad tracks. It reminded me a bit of where Elwood Blues lived in the movie "The Blues Brothers." There were trains going by within 20 feet of my room. That said, there weren't many trains at night and I didn't find it to be that intrusive. But this hotel "feature" may be a bit startling if one is not prepared for it.

The hotel has excellent location and facilities. When we arrived, however, they had no rooms for us in spite of our confirmed reservation via Expedia. The staff found a room for the first night at another nearby hotel. They moved us to the Cloitre on the next day. They promised us various upgrades and amenities to make up the inconvenience. After some miscommunication, eventually they honored their promises. While our stay started out poorly, I believe they worked very hard to remedy the situation. They did not stop until we were satisfied. As a result, I can post a very positive review.
