"Good hotel used as overnight stop on long journey"
The (air conditioned) room was nicely furnished and the air conditioning was controllable (and could be turned off) on a room basis. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the linen.
The restaurant served excellent food at a reasonable price and the buffet breakfast, with cooked food and bottomless coffee cups was value for money.
The hotel was very difficult to find and the grounds were completely weed filled. The cleanliness is surface so don't look in the corners. Our room was the smallest I've ever been in especially the bathroom. You had to back in to use the toilet. The bed was just a foam pad on top of a frame. The bedding was clean and sufficient. The extra pillow was flat and stained. The breakfast was basic even for France and completely picked over an hour before it was done.

Planning a trip to Avignon, the Papal city, and looking for a low cost, quality hotel combining convenient location and …More
Well located within 10 min walk to regional train station, bus to TGV station and cafes. We had a view of the old city walls from our window (right outside the window on the other side of the road). Reception staffed 24 hrs and most spoke some English.Breakfast was nice and a reasonable price. It was situated on a busy road so a bit noisy and didn't have the charm of some of the smaller places. I would stay there again.

The hotel is right at the gates of the old city so very convenient. It was also good to drive from as a base. We could be out of the city quickly to drive to other towns in Provence. Pleasant ambiance. Extremely helpful staff.

This is a nice hotel run by gracious people with a very convenient location adjacent to the Avignon Central (but not the Avignon TGV!) train station.
There are, however, two issues about which a prospective traveler should be aware.
First, my room (and I think all of the rooms, judging from a floor map I looked at) was very small. Submarine small. I was impressed they were able to get as much stuff into a room that size.
Second, the hotel is located RIGHT NEXT TO the railroad tracks. It reminded me a bit of where Elwood Blues lived in the movie "The Blues Brothers." There were trains going by within 20 feet of my room. That said, there weren't many trains at night and I didn't find it to be that intrusive. But this hotel "feature" may be a bit startling if one is not prepared for it.

just inside the old city walls, 2 or 3 minutes from the city rail station, the same for the bus stops that link with the Gare TGV (via very picturesque industrial estates)
Le Cloitre Saint Louis is one road back from the main street and takes over one side of a beautiful old building all around a central courtyard. Gorgeous transformation, lovely staff, nice simple rooms offering all we needed. That's all we can say really since we didn't eat there though the restaurant looked lovely and breakfast was a big value buffet.
The price we paid was terrific value, way below the advertised prices, possibly because it was late November. Days of storms meant warm rain but one morning was a perfect autumnal Provencal picture with us enjoying coffee sat outside on Place Pie having checked out the excellent indoor market Les Halles and in warm sunshine.
