The minute I walked in the door of this two bedroom condo I was impressed. It in the perfect location just a 5 minute walk from the heart of Vail village. The beds were comfortable and the amount of space we had was so much more than expected. if you packed people in there is room for 10. Two to a bed. The kitchen was fantastic and even a very high end grill so of course I made steaks. I will spend more time at Manor Vail.
Perfect location right on walkway to Vail Village. We visited in summer, but so close to the Vista Bahn, would be great for skiing. We stayed in the suite with two bathrooms, living room with fireplace, sofa-bed, separate bedroom with bay window, wrap around balcony. Furnished with antiques. Not a sparkly, brand new hotel, but so cozy and authentic. Nice outdoor (heated) pool. Lucky us, there for the USA Pro Challenge Bicycle Race and could see the riders from the balcony! Vail is so safe, could let our (well-behaved) teen-agers explore the paths and Village on their own. We absolutely love the Christiana Lodge!
This unfortunately was a very short visit; just a little less than 24hrs. The hotel sits in a very quaint courtyard like area and beautifully fits the entire setting. Check in was simple; the young lady at the desk was very helpful and accommodating. Our room was super clean and very comfortable with great beds. It had all the conveniences needed for our short stay but also perfect for the extended stay. We were there in early October and while the pool and hot tub were still open, we felt it just a little chilly to indulge, but it was wonderful that it was available. Breakfast was a light continental; not super stocked but given I didn't realize it was available in the first place it was a nice surprise. There were several places to eat locally and all of what you would want for this short or extended stay were in walking distance. I know different strokes for different folks, but I think you would have to be exceptionally fussy not to enjoy your stay at the Sitzmark Lodge. I'm not sure what the room costs are in season, but this was more than reasonable. Give it a shot, you shouldn't be disappointed.
We booked our stay at the Gasthof at the last minute when we decided to stop at the Vail Oktoberfest on our way through town. We wanted to be right where the fest was and the hotel is smack in the middle of it. The room was beautiful, large and clean. Bed was super-comfy. The hotel staff was freindly & informative. The hotel is smack in the middle of Vail Village. It has a fantastic German restaurant downstairs (Pepi's) with the best Hungarian Gulash ever. Weinerschnitzel was also top notch.
BEWARE SPECIAL EVENTS: (be careful what you wish for) As we drove to where the google maps told us to go we were met with a giant "DO NOT ENTER" road sign and a roadblock because the hotel is on a pedestian mall, and the fest was right in front. Called the hotel and the front desk told us he options were to have the event staff shepherd us through to the garage beneath the hotel, or park in the public garage accross the foot bridge. As the public garage was full...we did not think it possible, but with the help of security (think Tour de France) we wound thru the crowd to the hotel garage successfully. It was not a drive for the nervous. On non-event days it would be no problem and we got out the next morning without problem, but just beware of the potential!
Very clean, attentive , helpful and friendly staff. Quiet although in center of much activity. Breakfast was beautifully presented, plenty of choices and included in reasonable price.
Would stay here again without a doubt!!
The hotel Sonnenalp brings you to the best Austrian Alpine hotel experiences right in the center of Vail, which itself resembles an Alpine Village. It is a 5 star resort and I couldn't find a single negative. If you can afford it you won't be disappointed. Guaranteed.
What an incredible staff! is the first impression as we arrived at 10pm darkness after a one-hour drive from Leadville.
The hotel staff was all about getting us settled into our room while no doubt noticing our worn-out state on our faces! We had been to visit our son for Parents Weekend and completed our first day with him in over 2 months away as a junior in high school--and the emotion of that plus the drive to a new place for us--Vail--at my son's request--was visible!
Two young, but clearly poised, men greeted us in front of and behind the counter and made sure we quickly knew what to expect in the hotel--the top notes of a fitness center, spa, and library / game room off the lobby--and the town and local events (last day of major Ski Sale in the Ice Rink!) when we got up--we were in our plush beds, clean and asleep!
And, as they explained the night before, it was a delight to wake up and work out--run through the town and a visit to the Fitness Center--and head over to the Ice Rink for 2 hours of shopping! before continuing on exploring the day.
I think it was pure luck that we stayed at The Sebastian--we had never used Expedia or any other booking system--always word-of-mouth, so this was an exception and amazing for a short unexpected stay.
