"Nice hotel, bit tired, good pool ................."
Lovely comfortable clean rooms, good breakfast, good selection of all you could hope for including a hot choice. Hotel is tired, needs re-fit, new carpets etc, but then it probably would have been out of our price range. Excellent service with bus going to and from Rome, 1.50 euro each way per person, can add up. Pool opens at 9.30 am and close 19.30 pm so if, like us you are thinking of a nice cool down once returning from a days sight seeing you are going to be disappointed. Nothing nearby, at all and restaurant on the pricey side, 20 euro cheapest main meal.
July 2015. I arrived very late and was met with very helpful and friendly staff. Room was excellent however during the night I noticed there was a small leak in the bathroom so I was immediately moved, with staff moving my luggage for me. I would recommend requesting a room with a balcony, this looks out over the pool area. The shuttle bus was very reliable and only €3 return trip to Vatican city. The buffet breakfast was good but it may have been nice to have more variety of fresh fruit. No free wifi which I found to be unusual and expensive.
The rooms (we had 2) were very clean, with comfortable linens. The hotel is off of the main road, down a long drive. The majority of the hotel staff was not very helpful answering questions about visiting the Vatican. Wifi was spotty but fixed before we left. Upon request, a wifi access code was given...without the stipulation that it was only for one device. They did give more codes when asked.
The hotel was lovely and welcoming. The room was clean, however we asked for a double bed and got one with two single beds pushed together, which was a little annoying to sleep in. We went in April and the patio is amazing, with a swimming pool that must be lovely in summer (it was drained during our holiday). Most of the staff was lovely. Location is great, Cornelia Metro is close by, great for links to central rome and main tourist attractions. Would definitely recommend for a short city break stay.
Traveller from R
A four star hotel close to the Vatican City and St.Peter connected by the Metro *Cornelia*. 120 bright rooms with private …More
This is a really nice hotel, clean rooms etc no real faults at all apart from 2 things
1 it's a 15minute walk to the last metro station, the second part is thro a badly lit industrial estate. Not ideal if your scared easily at night
2 there is another hotel in Rome called Hotel Ginerva which is miles from this one. This caused massive confusion with airport transfers and taxis. They all wanted to go to the other hotel as no one had heard of this one. So much so that we almost missed our flight home!
A great place to stay if you're a budget traveler who likes a step up. We stayed here for 3 nights and were satisfied. Hotel rooms show some wear, but rooms are overall very comfortable. The hotel roof-top deck is amazing! It has 3 hot tubs with a view overlooking the lush green city and the Vatican dome. The hot tubs were unheated, which was disappointing, but the view was amazing! The pool area and bar area are also very nice. The hotel breakfast was a little disappointing. Definitely not the best i've had in Europe.
The hotel is a cheap 10-15 euro cab ride from St. Peter's square and the Trastevere neighborhood.
DATE: July 2015 - check that this information is still up to date. The check in was quite easy and the staff was always friendly but not all spoke good english. The room was clean but i was a bit disappointed in the setting, i was hoping for a bit more comfort. Shower only with very little extras (ie: small shower gel which also works as shampoo). Nothing in the mini bar... The opening time of the swimming pool was a surprise, it closes at 6pm (??). We arrived at about 13 and immediately went for some lunch but they had mainly nothing to offer from their menu... The breakfast was limited but you still had a choice from a continental breakfast or more traditional, unfortunately apart from the pastry everything else was of very poor quality. As a result we didnt try the restaurant. 2 buses come and goes from the hotel (across the road 889 and 546) one of them don't run on sundays (889). Both but take you to the tube. The nearest tube station is about 20 mins walk, but the last tube at night is 9.30pm monday-friday and sunday or 1.30pm saturday (not joking) however there is a replacement bus on these occasions which is currently the MA1.
From airport to hotel, price from private taxi is 50 euro, but hotel charge 60 euro
Mainly your best way of transport around is bus and it is fairly easy and mostly reliable
Over all this is a decent hotel and you can't be disappointed if you know what you pay for. It could be a lot better with few improvements here and there.
Encompassing in its folds part of the area next to the Vatican, the Aurelio neighborhood is known for being a residential haven away from the hustle and bustle of central Rome while still being connected to the heart of the city. The area's traditional restaurants, local shops, and neighborhood cafés bordering the piazzas make it the perfect place for an evening stroll.
