“Well run hotel”

This is a well run hotel in a pleasant neighbourhood. It is located at the foot of the Acropolis, 5 minutes SW from the Akropoli metro station, half a block down the street from the New Acropolis Museum. The hotel had everything I was looking for: comfortable and quiet room with safe and fridge, decent breakfast and helpful staff. The rooftop has a great view of the Parthenon, but I could only enjoy it from the top of the staircase – the terrace was locked/inaccessible. I recommend the hotel and would stay here again.

Area recommendations
There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants in Plaka/Anafiotika and Monastiraki (walk around the east end of the Acropolis to find these areas). This is also where most of the ancient sites are. Athens in general will be a wonderful place once the Greeks have a moment to deal with their graffiti vandals.

“Fantastic Acropolis Hotel”

We absolutely loved this hotel. We had rolled into Athens off a 7 day cruise. This hotel was really great to us. The boat arrived at 8AM and our room would not be ready until 2PM. They let us leave our luggage in the lobby area near the desk so we could enjoy the day in Athens. You can see the Acropolis right from the hotel. The neighboorhood is amazing, clean, safe and wonderful. The are a large variety of shops and restaurants within 6 blocks or so. There is a tobacco shop to buy stamps, etc 1 block up the street. If you begin walking to the Acropolis it is a 5 minute walk. Right there you will find the Metro stop Acropoli. The area was perfect. We were coming and going at all hours and I never once was uncomfortable. Once we checked in our room was enormous and very clean and comfortable. Note: You must put the key in the light switch in order to get any power. There are several locations in Europe like this but it was first for me and took about 15 minutes for me to figure it out. We had a huge outdoor terrace looking out right at the Acropolis. We loved it at night! We went to the breakfast in the morning...What a spread! Eggs, cereals, pastries, fruits a large and filling assortment. The Acropolis Mueseum is at the top of the street. It also happens to be the same stop for the hop on hop off tour bus. The hotel staff was great to us. The prices are great. I will certainly stay here again the next time I am in Athens.

The name of the company is City Sightseeing. You buy the ticket right on the red double decker bus. They usually have a 2 day price and will give you around 10% with your ticket in another city. We went to Rome where I had intended on using it..but I got on the wrong bus (they're all red) boy was I sorry. City Sightseeing was wonderful...definitely the best of the hop on hop offs.

“Good budget hotel near Acropolis Museum”

This hotel has an excellent location next to the Acropolis Museum (and the metro) in a quiet, residential neighbourhood. My bed was comfortable and the room clean. Breakfast is OK rather than good but will keep you going. Value for money without feeling cheap.

Area recommendations
The Acropolis area is good because of the new museum and access to the Acropolis. It is also well connected by metro to other parts of the city.

“Athens Vacation”

The hotel is very conveniently located about two blocks from the Acropolis and four blocks from the Plakka. The hotel was clean and the room (standard double) was very small, which is typical for a european hotel. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We would stay there again, but get the upgraded room.

Area recommendations
I would recommend staying in the Plakka area....lots of shops, restaurants etc.

“Great location”

The Philippos Hotel was comfortable and clean, provided a nice breakfast buffet, and had internet available (extra fee). By US standards the room was small but that's true everywhere we stayed in Italy & Greece. Its best feature is probably its great location, just a couple blocks from the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum. Definitely recommend it for any tourist visiting Athens.

“Delivered what was promised”

My stay at the Philippos Hotel was just what I expected. It was located in a quiet residential area just one block from the new Acropolis museum and two short blocks from a metro stop. It was within walking distance to most all of the surrounding areas and sites including the Plaka and Monastriki, even Syntagma. I felt safe walking to and from the hotel at all hours alone. My room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast provided was more than sufficient and I found the staff to be hospitable.

Area recommendations
Makigrianna, because it is quiet and residential, but just blocks from major sites and attractions.

“Good location, clean, and decently priced”

Pros: - clean room - good and friendly service - decent breakfast included - excellent area Cons: - need to pay for wifi internet service - TV was sort of old and didn't work well sometimes

Area recommendations
Acropolis The other areas have too many tourists, are too far, or are too dangerous.

“I'd stay there again”

It's best if you have the Greek spelling of the hotel and/or the street name as well as a map. Take the X95 bus, then the Metro and you are within about 4 Greek blocks of the hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished, air conditioned (only works when the room key is placed in the controller). No shower, a bathtub with a hand held shower......but it works. The staff are very helpful and friendly! The room safe comes in very handy, do use it! A trip to the roof patio with a drink and camera are a must at night. Sit back in a chair in the evening and enjoy the view of the Acropolis and Parthenon. The hotel is next to the Acropolis Museum and very near good tavernas and coffe shops.

Area recommendations
The area near the metro station is great if you like shopping. Plenty of tavernas and coffee shops in the neighborhood.
