“True Diamond in the Rough”
O&B is the best hotel we've stayed in Europe yet. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were greeted with an upgrade upon check-in, which included a bigger room, complimentary amenities and a welcome plate of hors d'oeuvres. The Acropolis can literally be seen from the hotel's location, and is about a 10 minute walk to many of the ruins, and the city's downtown. Breakfast was great. Fresh bread and pastries, cereal, cheeses and cold cuts, and fruits are laid out buffet style for the guests. You are asked if you'd like coffee or fresh orange juice to drink. Water was poured for us when we were seated. Our first morning they made us omelette upon request, and the next days, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, and tomatoes were part of the buffet. We always came home to a fresh room. It would be made up in the day, and we noticed that coming home later in the night, the bed was prepared without the extra bed covers and decorative pillows so it's ready to sleep on. The staff also recommended us to a restaurant just around the corner that had live music, and pretty good food (if fall off the bone pork shank is your thing). Overall, I would stay here again. While the surrounding area seems a bit shady, and rough (though big cities/downtowns in Europe seem to all resemble the same background), it really didn't take away from the great experience the hotel provided.
“Brilliant”
We stayed in a standard room which was clean, neat and still included Queen bed, complimentary toothbrush, paste , shave cream, razor, comb as well as usual facilities. Staff were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome and even turned bed down when we went out in the evening. The location is exactly where you'd choose to be for sightseeing and numerous shops and tavernas are close by. I would not even contemplate staying anywhere else if I go back to Athens.
“Excellent Experience”
Fantastic hotel in all respects, location, staff, comfort of room, cleanliness and breakfast. Very short walk to all of the sights and the activities, less than 10 mins to most of the places. Loads of restaurants within 5 mins walk. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.
“Quietness and Volupty”
We came to Athens in the midst of strikes and general chaos.... this hotel was like an oasis of luxury, calm, pleasure. The personnel was helpful, attentive, interesting. And, one can walk everywhere from the hotel: the acropolis, the Plaka, the Syntagma, good restaurants, etc. We liked it!
“athens hotel”
excellent friendly
“Comfortable and modern hotel at an odd location”
Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Wi-fi is a hit and miss. Breakfast is good. My room was quiet. There were no Acropolis view from my room. Only problem was water remaining in the shower basin after a wash and bathroom getting misty for a while thereafter. My only real issue with this place is the location, near a graffiti-ridden neighborhood with lack of pedestrian lights. Parts of Athens now seem to be unsafe, and this place is about a 15 min. walk from the centre of Syntagma. I felt OK at night, but I rarely ventured after 930pm. To it's credit, this place is very close to the Acropolis entrance and the staff were helpful.
“eddie1”
just a uneasiness with the area the staff does not hide the fact that the area could be better and ensure you that it is safe but walking back in the evenings were always questionable
“very nice small hotel in downtown Athens”
Excellent hotel right close to the sights. very clean and helpful staff. Would recommend it highly
“Good hotel in a convenient location”
Don't bother with the streets close to the hotel, only 2 blocks down and you are in Ancient Agora. 2 blocks up and you are in the nice Plaka. The room is small but very clean and well equipped. The service is extremely friendly.
“A Wonderful Hotel Experience.”
Having stayed at many hotels around the World I would totally recommend this one. Great staff, food, service and the cleanest hotel I have ever seen. Yes the standard rooms are quite small, but very comfortable. I am not sure of the size of the travellers from Boston, but being unable to fit between the bed and the wall should say more about them than the room size! The location is very central and although the area is not the most lavish, you get a real feel for the contrasts of the city. Do not look any further for a hotel in Athens.
