“Great Place to Stay”
Very nice, clean rooms with good amenities. Staff very friendly. Walkable to downtown Athens.
“good value for the price”
We stayed here overnight while traveling cross-country. The price was right, and it included free internet and a continental breakfast. The rooms were clean and the employees were extremely pleasant. I recommend this hotel, particularly for those with children.
“Convenient and clean”
No frills, but it was clean, comfortable, and very convenient to UGA campus.
“close to campus”
Best thing about this hotel is proximity to campus. Also very nice breakfast, and good coffee. No fan or AC in bathroom, so rather miserable for showers.
“Good for the price!”
Good location for orientation at UGA! Free breakfast was better than average. Beds were very comfortable. Other reviews mention concerns about the area. There appears to be a housing project next to the hotel but I didn't see anything that made me feel unsafe.
“Noisy room near elevator.”
I was placed in a room next to a noisy elevator. When I asked for a different room, I was told no others were available. An hour later, I saw several walk-ins off the street being checked in, so there obviously were, in fact, other rooms available. Not a restful night with all the elevator noise. In other respects, the hotel seemed perfectly fine.
“Would Recommend”
We arrived at the hotel and the lobby was clean and organized. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who check us in promptly. The layout of the hotel was a little strange due to being built into the side of a hill so getting the elevator that was close to your room was a guess first time around. The corridors were a little dated looking but the rooms were a great surprise, very clean, comfortable and a little more contemporary decoration. We only stayed one night but for the price and location it was ideal. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely book a room here again.
“Nice mid-level hotel close to downtown”
Our stay was perfect! The room was very nice - comfy bed, classy decor, and, most importantly, clean! The breakfast buffet, which is served until 10 AM on weekends, was nothing special but it was pretty good. Mostly a continental breakfast but there were some fresh items such as pancakes, sausage, and biscuits with gravy. It was also a short and pleasant walk to UGA and the amenities of that downtown area. The pool area overlooks the parking lot, not too scenic, but the pool itself was nice, and there were plenty of lounge chairs. The only issue: we were here in early June 2010 and it looked like there was construction happening. There was no noise or inconvenience during our weekend stay, but I would be wary of a weekday stay for the next couple of months if you want to sleep in. It shouldn't be any problem for an early-rising business traveler. Overall we were totally delighted by the nice, comfortable room. This is a great choice for a traveler who doesn't want to take the risk of a super budget hotel but still wants a good price.
“Good Hotel”
Good for going out downtown. Good hot breakfast.
“nice for the price”
We made a trip to athens and stayed at the H.I.E. The hotel itself could use a little renovating on carpets and such. The rooms are a bit small too. But the service was top notch and if you like continental breakfasts then you will like this hotel. The only negative was there was groups of baseball teams staying there and both the chaperone's and hotel security let the occupants down because the noise of running up and down halls banging on doors until 1 in the morning got old. Still waiting to hear from the manager on this.
