“Very good experience”

We stayed at the Best Western Glyfada because we were attending the World Special Olympics and wanted to be close to the golf course. We were within 10 minutes of walking distance to the course. We also were just a couple of blocks from the tram system and although it took about an hour to get into Athens it was still very convenient. Also Glyfada was just a few stops down the line or about 20 minutes of walking and had nice resturants and shopping. The beach was a few blocks away, right behind the tram. Most of the personel and wait staff at the hotel were very friendly and effecient with help. We thought the beds were comfortable and even though the rooms were small compared to American hotels they were comparable to the rooms I've had overseas before. All the rooms had a balcony with a small table and that was very nice in the evenings. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations

I preferred this area to downtown Athens because it was quieter and less busy but not that far from nice resturants and shopping. It also was safer than some of the areas around Athens. Things were pretty littered around Glyfada and Athens probably because of the economic situation in Greece right now.

“Average Hotel”

The location is not the perfect one but the area is secure and quiet. There are not too much to do in the location so i believe it is not good for solo travellers. When i stay at the hotel, there was the strike for the public transportation. The front desk staff did not tell me that the tram is available till 11:00 AM so i have paid 30 euros for the taxi each day i stay.

Area recommendations

you can walk to gylfada which there are lots of restaurants including the hard rock cafe.

“Lovely Stay”

Excellent Hotel, very friendly staff, who do their best to accomodate you. Great selection of food for the breakfast buffet. Hotel rooms were kept extremely clean. Make sure you arrange ahead of time if you want a non smoking room, Greece is a smoking country and the majority of rooms are smoking!

“Great Hotel”

-excellent customer service -excellent food (both in the restaurant on the premises and in the breakfast room) -very clean and spotless -spacious lounge/foyer -room was very clean and comfortable (really liked the balcony) -outdoor swimming pool very spacious and clean -hotel near the Glyfada beach and Glyfada square (about 15-20 by foot; and tram and bus service available)

Area recommendations

I would recommend seeing Glyfada and downtown Athens. These places are easily accessible with a tram or bus. You could walk to Glyfada square from Hotel Fenix (about 15 minutes). Overall I felt very safe in the Glyfada area (both the business and residential areas). Since I was walking on foot and not all too familiar with this part of Greece I never felt unsafe (being a lone, female traveller).

“Nice cheap hotel in a good location”

Stayed for 2 nights. Nice hotel in a very good price.Probably not a 4 star hotel but I have stayed in much worse ones. Far from the centre but near Glyfada the coast and all the summer night clubs and bars. Would definitely recommend it for a cheap summer escape in Athens.

“Average 3 star hotel but worth the money”

The hotel has nothing really special. It is an average 3 star hotel. I got a very good deal with my package, and my intention was for sightseeing, so it was worth the money. Glyfada is a great place, full of restaurants, bars and shops, very modern and beautiful. The tram is very close from the hotel and it takes around 40 minutes to Athens City Center. The only problem of my trip is that I went on 1st May bank holiday and EVERYTHING was closed, really everything. So I went to the beach on saturday and sightseeing only on Sunday, and was too much for one day. Athens is fantastic, a lot to enjoy and see, the weather is very good. In general the experience was good and I would recomment the hotel.

Area recommendations

City center and historical area. Full of monuments and lovely area with shops, restaurants and bars. Glyfada is also a good place if you have more time on the city.

When to go

Don't go on May day holliday. Everything close. Bars, restaurants, museum and monuments.

“Looking forward to a return trip”

This was a nice hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was very good, as was the service. Also close to the Trams which made traveling around more convenient. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Greece.
