“Not so grand”
The website promises fun in a four star environment. In reality, this is a somewhat run down three star hotel with tiny cramped rooms. It is a bit of a walk to all the attractions that most visitors want to see. They advertised a pool...it is several blocks away at a sister hotel. We left our luggage with them after check out and before leaving to Piraeus. There was a 3G devise in my computer bag that was missing when I got the bag back and an app on the computer that was not there when I left it. Couldn't prove anything, so I was stuck with the loss. We stayed somewhere else when we returned to Athens two weeks later, and were much happier.
“Pretty convenient although immediate area a little dody at night”
Decent hotel - if a little characterless. Good breakfast. We liked the area - and the market nearby. A pretty manageable walk to the sites.
“A very nice boutique hotel convenient to Plakka and Monastiriki”
We enjoyed this hotel quite a bit. While the immediate neighborhood (Omonia Square) wasn't that exciting, the hotel is only about a 10-12 minute walk to the Plakka and Monostiriki neighborhoods, where there are great shops, restaurants, and night life. The hotel was very comfortable, and the staff very accommodating and eager to please. The breakfast, included in the room price, was also good; while it was a buffet, it had a nice selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, eggs, and fresh fruit. We would recommend this hotel and would certainly return to it.
“"Fantastic! Great location, welcoming, stylish and fun"”
Despite what some have said about Omonia square at the top of the road the hotel is extremely well located in this bustling part of town. One change on the metro and a short walk and we were there making it one of the easiest hotels to find and as it turned out a short walk away from the centre of Athens. The hotel was very well managed, clean and beautifully decorated and the staff did everything to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible; they catered for all our requests and always with a beaming smile. The staff clearly take pride in their work and want to do everyhthing to make their guests feel welcome and relaxed. The room was well maintained everyday with clean towels, robes and slippers even when it wasn't requested. We had access to the roof top pool and bar in their sister hotel, the Classical imperial which was again a short walk away and provided much relief at the end of a busy, hot day. The roof gave us fantastic views over the city with an amazing view of the acropolis. this along with a generous happy hour policy made meant we enjoyed many a pleasant evening after the wealth of adventures this amazing city has to offer. seriously if you are going to athens and want something not necessarily traditional but a little bit different and very special, this is the hotel for you. Thank you so much to all the staff at the Classical baby Grand- you were wonderful.
“Diamond in the Rough... Literally”
I loved this hotel because it was funky, modern and clean. The staff was also helpful and friendly. My one problem was that our room was facing a very shabby, ugly looking building, and as we could not control the temperature in the room, we had to keep the door open. At night this was difficult, as the hotel is located a stone's throw from Omonia Square, which is full of prostitutes and drug addicts. We could even see these disturbing activities from our room! The hotel is amazing though, and it's a shame that the area around it is so disgusting.
“Hotel with a bit of character”
Definitely not your standard hotel. The food at lunch was very good, good fresh Greek salad and big portions. Friendly and helpful staff.
“Good for budget travellers”
The hotel staff were great and the location was close to everything we needed. Needed to ask around for the exact location when we arrived in the area, but once we found it, it was smooth sailing. Do not recommend staying outside of the hotel late at night (shady area). Pool is dismal at best. Found spiders in our room.
“It made my trip worth it.”
Although it's close to the less than cosmopolitan area of the city, this hotel is absolutely fantastic. The exterior is grand, but the ambience within is fresh, fun, and fancy-free. The fashion themes on each floor and room make this hotel very special. The staff is extremely friendly and always around to help you. The front desk crew are the best I've ever met and I've stayed in dozens of hotels in my life. We enjoyed the relaxing vibe, especially after each day of sight-seeing. Our room was spacious and very unique. The view was great, but I loved my little nook on the veranda. On hot days, I just sat there and swung all afternoon. No one bothered me and I just watched the world go by. Overall, great hotel. Next time I'm in Athens, I'm definitely staying there.
“Terrible experience!”
I have never been more disappointed with a Hotel as I have with baby Grand Hotel. I was expecting a great 5 star experience instead I think this hotel disserves a 2 star at best. I always choose to stay and the leading small luxury hotels of the world and I was always impressed with what I got. This time I got the exact opposite. The staff were rude, the service terrible, the rooms were dirty and very badly maintained. I was even disappointed with the art work in the rooms they were horrible! My daughter was scared to sleep in the room that we were forced to stay in as the alternatives were terrible! The rooms were stale of cigarette smoke and the smell of the rooms and corridors was disgusting! This is no 5 star hotel. This hotel will certainly disappoint you.
“good value”
The hotel though not the standard of uk 4 star hotel is fine for a stay in Athens. Our room was a basic one but more than adequate with good air con and nice bathroom and minfridge. The mini bar very expensive but aren't they all! Room was cleaned every day bed changed and fresh towels. We liked the area thought it was very convienient for metro, central market and walking to all the main sites of interest. Don't think you could do much better.
