“Comfortable , modern hotel.”
Modern, comfortable hotel, with several nice restaurants nearby, on the sea front. Not very convenient for shopping , even though Vouliagmeni is a suburb of Athens. Glyfada is about a 15 min bus ride away Regular Airport bus service about 15 mins walk away.
“Wonderful staff, great hotel”
We choose the hotle because of the reviews we had read and we weren't disappointed. It's the staff that make this hotel, so helpful and friendly they were always on hand to help. Located about an hour outsideAthens but very easy to travel in and out of the city. The only down side is that the the only local Tavernas are quite expensive but it's not difficult to just hop pn a bus a nd 10 minuetes later you are in Glyfada. Would we stay here again - yes. Would we recommend it to others - certainley.
“Wonderful hotel but situation not ideal”
From the moment we arrived at the Amarilia the staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Our flight landed 40 mins late and then we fnd out the taxi drivers were on strike. Had to make a 40 min bus journey (X96) to a stop which was a 15 min walk from hotel down an very busy main rd! We arrived in reception at 10pm hot & exhausted but we were immediately welcomed and calmed by Costas who checked us in and allocated us a lovely room on 4th floor. After freshening up we went for a cold lager in the bar and met the lovely young barman who was always there it seemed, and always welcoming & friendly. John was on reception the next morn (and most mornings) He told us what buses went to Athens and where to catch the buses. He even sold us bus tickets! Breakfast was more than adequate with masses of choice The hotel rm was lovely - good size, light & airy and our balcony faced the sea from which you could watch the amazing sunsets. The rm had a gd & effective air con unit which was controllable or could be switched off. The cleaners were gd - always returned to a very clean neat rm at the end of each day. Hotel let down by remoteness. They don't readily offer dinner and few places nearby were very expensive (tho great settings by sea!) Beach nearby where you can hire sunbeds under umbrellas. No shops whatever within 2 or 3 miles apart from kiosk 10 min wlk up main rd.Loved seeing sites in Athens (45 min bus) & rest'nts in Acropolis area very reasonable. Cldn't fault hotel tho.
“Good beach hotel”
Amarillia is a great hotel to stay in. It's 2 mins from the nearest beach and has a small but nice range of beach bars and restaurants near by. Make sure you go to the beach that has the sunbeds - it's kept very clean. The service was very good at the hotel and the breakfast buffet was delicious! The bus to Athens is about 10 mins down the road and takes about an hour to the city centre. However you get a lovely view of the sea along your journey. We found that we were very happy staying in a beach hotel and visiting Athens in a couple of days. In Athens I reccomend the Acropolis, Athens Flea Market, Tressio and the University area.
