“Not a 5 start Hotel but is OK.”

This Hotel is well located, near the Metro station. The staff is very friendly I don't think is a 5 start Hotel, the quality of lines, pillows, beds is not optimal. The rooms are close to a very noisy street.

“Would def stay here again”

Pros: Hotel decor is quite funky inside. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Fantastic shower. Staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was generous and really tasty. Cons: Not terribly close to a metro, but easily walkable still.

Area recommendations

Kolonaki is not too far a walk. Some good restaurants there that we've been to before.

“Off the Beaten Path”

It's a quiet little hotel best suited for Greeks. It's a bit far from the downtown tourist attractions.

“Some problems”

No air-conditioning could present a problem on warm days as the sun streams in. Internet access was slow and unreliable. If these are not important then it is a very nice hotel with very friendly staff and a nice area for local culture.

“character and position”

good hotel very good position--especially on day 2 when you are about in daylight. once orientated you will find no trouble in getting about. three metro stops to the acropolis climb.

megaro moussikis (which is where stratos vassillikos is situated) is great.

When to go

go in May or late September---not so hot, less crowds, but things still open. I found a lot closed and ferries not running in March.

What to pack

make sure girls pack one skirt as some churches are not the places to be in jeans or pants. Mix and match clothes in the same colour selections so they can be layered if cold or used singly when warm. I took poly cotton underwear which dried quickly and light tops, that could be warn as undersinglets or over the top as vests so that gave more outfits. ONE PAIR OF COMFY SHOES TO RESORT TO WHEN THE FEET ARE REAL BAD.

“Feeling in need of a renovation”

The Airotel Stratos Vassilikos big selling point is its staff. They are incredibly friendly and helpful. However, the hotel looks as though it is need of a makeover. The area it is in looks better than the last time we were there, but still looks run down. The beds are HARD! They need a memory foam topper. My arm was numb after a few hours meaning I never got a good nights sleep. The buffet breakfast is lovely, and the restaurant food is excellent. It's a shame that more guests do not make use of it. The hotel is within walking distance of a TGI Fridays and a similar place called Applebys. The master suite contained one of those double walk-in shower cubicles, that provide steam and body sprays. Great! Except that were no instructions, and the staff did not know how it worked.....

“Not impressed”

This hotel is not up to its official star rating. The rooms are small and in need of renovation, and the views my colleagues and I had were to a wall; a 3-3.5star rating would be more appropriate by North-American standards. Also, the staff has a stiff bureaucratic attitude. For instance, when my return flight was canceled because of local strikes, I wasn't allowed to extend my stay by one night and pay the same rate as when I made the reservation.
