The Aso hotel looks nice on the surface, but the inside is quite old and in need of a good renovation. Just be careful if you book 1 pax and later bring 2 pax to the hotel. They will enforce you to pay for 1 more pax even though the room is big enough for up to 4 pax. The good thing is there are many onsens in the hotel and a very new cafe next to it that sells soft serve ice cream.

The hotel needs some upgrading works to be done. The bath tub has a severe leakage but their staff takes no immediate action to solve the issue. Dinner is good and breakfast is also decent.

Nice traditional Japanese styled hotel rooms. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Quite spacious as well. Breakfast buffet could be better, not a lot of choices to choose from. Really thankful for all the prompt and efficient transport services that the hotel has provided us to and fro from the station FOC. However, the only problem we faced with this hotel is during the check-in, the staff could not speak in English well and it was hard to understand what they were trying to say. Also, we booked the Quadruple room for 4 people before our trip but we were made to book another room upon arrival because the hotel staff refuses to let 4 people stay in the room although it could fit us, saying it is against their policy. So it this the fault of Expedia for misrepresenting or? I believe the conditions should be stated clearer as well as the name of the room. We understand if there weren't enough beds in the room but it's not the case. But the room settings is for guests to sleep on the floor. Essentially, our efforts to save money were futile and ended up paying 2x the original amt to get another room. The cost of the extra room cost us the same amt as both rooms booked prior to the trip combined.

A wonderful luxurious Japanese hotel
A wonderful hotel with staff who were so willing to help us. We arrived in Aso by train and were not sure how to get to the hotel. Fortunately there is a tourist information desk in the station and the lady there rang the hotel for us and they sent a free shuttle car to take us to the hotel. They provided a free shuttle service to and from the station at various times during our stay. The room was so spacious and typically Japanese. Tea and tea making facilities were provided in the room together with a refrigerator stoked with a jug of iced water. Our futons were laid out for us each evening and cleared during the following morning. Staff at reception spoke English and were very helpful recommending and booking restaurants for us and booking taxis. The breakfasts provided were splendid; a magnificent buffet breakfast with a wide range of Japanese foods including a charcoal grill for fish, a range of salads, breads and croissants, yoghurt and cereals, tea, coffee, miso soup, etc. I wish were staying longer at this hotel it was so good and good value. The area is interesting because of volcanic activity; it is quite a rural small town so don't expect lots of entertainment, however the hotel does have its own onsens (spa baths) which appeal to a lot of the visitors.

Worthwhile hotel
Near Mount Aso with hot spring and hotel accomodation in good condition. Waiters can communicate clearly in English. Both Japanese traditional dinner and Japaneae buffet breakfast are good.

Unexpectedly pleasant stay
The drive to the hotel was a little winding for us, especially arriving as late as we did. However, the staff was amazingly welcoming and very helpful. The hotel was beautiful, from its foyer and garden area to the wonderfully sized rooms. We really enjoyed the tatami room and the amazing views from our room. If you will be in the Aso area, this is a wonderful choice!

Great hotel in aso!
Extremely friendly staff, free breakfast and dinner everyday, and offers a morning shuttle to the train station. We enjoyed our stay.

not the same room type as I expected
I booked a western-Japanese room, but I was informed that I need to pay more when I got there. We have four people travelling in Japan, and we cannot fit in one Japanese room. So we pay for another room. :(

いい湯でした。
阿蘇駅まで出迎えの車を出していただきました。新型コロナ対策のために朝食はバイキングではなく個別提供になりましたが、会席素敵な朝食でした。温泉もさらりとしたきれいな湯でした。満足です。

停車場大，對自駕來說很方便，7樓露天溫泉眺望阿蘇火山是絕景也是選擇住宿的原因，可惜溫泉開放時間太短，早上9點就沒有了很可惜

ホテル自体が古く、何でもが年季が入っていた。冷暖房が古くて片側にだけ強い風があたり、窓側は暑く...小さい子連れには温度調整が大変だった。

風景美麗但有歷史的飯店
是一個整體乾淨，但看的出來歷史的飯店，燈上積塵稍多，因為吊燈不高，容易撞到落塵會順勢掉下來....加上一隻小小的蟲。另外，浴室非小。Check-out是10:00，早餐最慢入場時間只到8:30，但附近風景真的沒話說，非常漂亮！

地點容易找，酒店整體上很殘舊，洗手間很細，毛巾又薄又舊，還有很多蚊子，幸好有帶薄荷味的油用來點在床上四周，才避免被咬。晚餐很豐富，蓋飯味道不錯，早餐就選擇不多。

Amazing onsen on the top floor where you can observe Aso for 180degrees. Rooms have good views and the futon was very comfortable! Great food and service from staff members as well. Free shuttle to Aso station in the morning was so helpful as I am carrying a large luggage.
