Stayed for 13 days in November 2014. Very good overall impression.
Very quiet environment in and around the hotel (in November), many great beaches around (Coelha, Sao Rafael, Castelo), absolutely incredible cliffs (!!!).
Ocean water warm enough to swim even in the winter months. Swam several times, the only problem was high waves.
There's not so much "civilization" around the hotel, which was also a good issue, especially if you need a quiet place for the stay, but the nearest city (Albufeira) is only 7 min away, there's a free shuttle bus from the hotel.
Been to Spain before, in my opinion Portugal is very different from it. Strongly recommend this hotel and Portugal as a country to visit.
We had a great time in Albufeira. The apartment complex is next to the marina which is a pleasant 25 minute walk from the old town and main beach. The apartments are spacious and face onto the large pool area. The complex is walled which made it feel safe.
There are bars and restaurants nearby which are pretty good and a couple of coffee shops offering reasonable snacks and good coffee along with food store. Particularly liked the Albufeira Cafe on the road to the marina which had very friendly staff.
We visited the old town which is very picturesque and again has lots of bars and restaurants with plenty to choose from at a range of prices. We particularly enjoyed eating/drinking around the old square.
The main beach was nice and has sun beds for hire.
We weren't keen on the strip but it may suit younger travellers better and the beach at Oura whilst a bit smaller was really nice too.
Owner was very accommodating in ever way possible and would go out of his way to make you comfortable and your stay enjoyable. The only difficulty is that it is a little bit out of the way and the taxi drivers although most spoke good english didnt really know where it was ... but as long as you remember Caminho do Raposo they know exactly where it is. 6 euros for one trip to the strip. Very clean and very well looked after villa hotel... would stay again and would recommend it to anyone travelling away as a couple or as an individual.
I visited on my first ever solo holiday so was quite apprehensive given some of the negative reviews. The hotel, staff and location are fantastic. I was booked in bed and breakfast and the buffet breakfast set me up for the day, no need for lunch later. The hotel is very relaxed and only a few minutes walk from beach and town. I will deffinately be returning next year. The hotel is for adults only, so no kids to annoy relaxation. The views are breathtaking and service by the pool great. Make sure and get the fabulous treats given out at 5pm each day at the pool. The hotel is clean and tidy and rooms are serviced each day. Have a treatment in the Spa, deffinately recommend it.
Albufeira it's our favorite city in Algarve!! It's the second time we came here to have a nice days on the beach. This time we stayed in this friendly hotel for a couple of days and it was worth it!!! Thanks to this hotel we had the most relaxing days on our lives!! The staff was very helpful and friendly! Which time we arrive to the hotel was always someone on the reception asking us how was our day on the beach..these little things make the difference!!! The room was simple and clean. In general this hotel was perfect!!! Thanks for everything!
"A nice studio apartment as base to explore Algarve"
A simple studio flat, cleaned daily around 10:30 am. Clean towels and tea-towels. I used this flat as a base to explore the Algarve. I stayed November time and I rented a car. The hotel / flats are located on hill, but easy to reach driving, the hotel really short walk to Old Albufeira. Of course way back is uphill. The flat had a 3 ring electric hobs / Oven, microwave, pans, plates, cups, cutlery, sink and TV. I rented TV remote for 1 Euro a day + 10 Euro Deposit (returned on check-out). I did not use the swimming pool area as I was out most of time. But it looked tidy and cleaned when visited to have a coffee nearby Hotel restaurant. I cannot comment on food as I haven't eaten there as I was out most of the time. My deal was room only. I am very happy again: simple, tidy, clean and all in work order inside flat. Maybe because of off-season but I have always been able to park in front of entrance of my building.
