Stayed for 2 nights in a Club class room including breakfast. The check in was quick and efficient, the room was a large front facing double with a balcony. It was very clean, tea/coffee, bathrobes and slippers provided, fridge, safe, and plenty of hanging and storage space. The breakfast was served to the table, lots of choice and was hot really well presented and very tasty. We didn't have any other meals in the hotel, and didn't have time to try out the pool and gym, but we will be back.! Only 1 small negative comment, the car parking was a tad confusing, we didn't know all of the bays belonged to the hotel this could be made clearer with signage.
It was one of the cheapest options we found on expedia, but was a great place. The food was very good, the host is super friendly and nice.
Only downside is that it could be a bit warm, but a provided fan did the trick, and it is off of a busy trip so could be noisier than you are use to.
Charming hotel with very helpful personal. Rooms are cozy and simply faultless. Lobby is charming and breakfast very recommendable.
I would recommend to stay at least 3-4 days.
It is on the main street so you can easily access some restaraunts (recommended is the fresh fish one and they really stop serve food after 9 pm).
Then place provides easy access and pivot point for an exciting adventure around lakes.
The immediate friendliness and professionalism of the hotel's owners was apparent the moment I arrived with my needs and requirments dealt with, within minutes. I was settled in and comfortable before I knew it.
Much appreciated, especially the generously delivered local knowledge about the town of Ambleside itself.
Had an absolutely amazing time at this hotel; my only regret would be I only stayed there for 1 night. I booked out a Superior Room, which for me was one of the Garden Rooms - I have no idea if all Superior Rooms are Garden Rooms, so something to indicate this would be useful perhaps. The Garden Rooms are also set back off the road, so it's lovely and peaceful.
Staff were brilliant, the room was simply amazing (with it's own private terrace) and the location of this hotel is perfect. Easy to walk into Ambleside from there, only about 10 minutes.
Didn't eat in the restaurant, though it looked very nice when I walked through it.
Also purchased room service for breakfast and late checkout. These are available, though chargeable, but definately worth it - so look out for them when you checkin.
My husband and I spent 4 nights at Lake House. The occasion was to celebrate a special anniversary. The standard and cleanness of the room were outstanding! We were lucky enough to be in one of the newly refurbished "Hideaway rooms", with beautiful views of the lake and countryside. The staff could not be more attentive and are a true asset to the Hotel. We will definitely go back...a great stay!!

Fantastic experience. Location is exceptional with great views over the lake and a great overall base to explore Windermere and surrounds. The rooms are tastefully designed and fully-equipped with everything you'd expect of a top hotel. A special thanks to the gentleman (I believe it's Thomas?) for being very accommodating in finding us room at the restaurant despite not booking in advance and generally making us feel very welcome throughout our short but enjoyable stay.
