Dining

Las Ventanas (The Windows)

Enjoy the best fine dining in La Fortuna, Arenal in our incredible restaurant Las Ventanas where the only thing better than the view is the food. Be careful to avoid the window seats if you are afraid of heights because the windows are angled out to allow you to look almost straight down a thousand feet to the river below! At night the distant mountains twinkle with the lights of cities thirty miles away. Be sure to dine here at least once during the day and once during the evening to capture the complete experience. Our master chef has created a menu blending the latest fusion concepts and the finest ingredients found on Costa Rica’s farms and in its two oceans. The menu is a well balanced combination of beef, seafood, pork, and homemade pasta as well as vegetarian fare. The incredible desserts are prepared using some traditional French cooking methods combined with the natural flavors of Costa Rica. Without a doubt you will find that this one of the best restaurants in La Fortuna. If you want the best steak in Costa Rica come try our imported rib eye. Our vegetables are grown exclusively for us on an organic farm and we love creating special dishes for vegetarian diners.

Tres Cascadas (Three Waterfalls)

Our gourmet buffet restaurant would be appropriately described as a “Tasting” experience. Here you will sample to your heart’s content a complete salad bar with our signature dressings, hot and cold soups of the day, assorted fresh baked breads, and a selection of hot entrée items of which a few will be specially prepared for you right at the buffet. The menu changes daily and may tend toward Italian one day to Asian the next. Our dessert bar offers small bite size portions to minimize your guilt while sampling them all and, of course, maybe returning for an extra piece of your favorite. Fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee are included. Even though it is a buffet you will have a waiter attending to your every need. We like to refer to it as a “Full Service Gourmet Buffet”.

Ginger SushiWhether you just want an afternoon or late night sushi snack or an entire meal, Ginger Sushi is your ideal option. . You will find that we do not just have the best sushi restaurant in La Fortuna, Arenal but many sushi connoisseurs that live and travel in Costa Rica tell us that we have the best sushi in Costa Rica. You can dine under the stars or under roof in our festive open air Casino and Games Level. Our fish arrives fresh daily straight from Costa Rica’s fertile fishing grounds where they consistently catch Yellow fin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Sea Bass and Snapper along with an assortment of other tasty seafood delicacies. If it is on the menu it is fresh! What better place to have a light, healthy snack while enjoying the view of the Volcano and perhaps a game of chess, checkers or backgammon.

Treetops Grill Old fashioned grilled poolside favorites along with local specialties.

“Highlight of Costa Rica trip”

Wow, what an amazing hotel! We spent three great days at The Springs Resort to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our only regret is not being able to stay longer! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. From the welcome tour of the expansive five floor lobby to the wonderful panoramic views of the volcano. We enjoyed the luxurious spa, indulging in massage treatments. The thermal pools were neat, with different mineral content and graded temperatures to chose from; we could always find one that was not crowded. The short bus trip to see the Cats and monkeys in the sanctuary was also very interesting and worthwhile. The suite itself was fantastic made of teak and marble and felt like a private villa with beautiful views of Arenal. Each and every member of staff were also incredibly nice and hospitable. I just can't say enough, and would love the opportunity to go back!

“Great Hotel horrible food.”

This hotel had amazing hot springs and overall was absolutely beautiful. The biggest issue we had was that the food was aweful. The restaraunts food choice was bare and had no flavor. For being a five star hotel I expected so much more. My family and I stayed during the week of Thanksgiving, but the buffet was so costly. We went up once to get a slice of turkey, mashed potatoes, no stuffing and it cost $60 a person, I was so upset. I didn't think that it would ever cost so much for such an aweful buffet style Thanksgiving dinner. I will never go back to the hotel to stay, but would consider the hotsprings on a daily pass. The prices are a bit high for the amount one pays for a hotel room...

Area recommendations
Go downtown La Fortuna and actaully enjoy the city night lite.
Dining
Dininng is aweful, do not plan for a great meal while staying at the springs....schedule activities outside the hotel to enjoy costa rica food.

“Heaven in Costa Rica”

The Springs Resort and Spa is truly heaven on earth. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by Costa Rican hospitality and unbelievable beautiful architecture and landscape. Of course, the highlight of the stay was the morning view of the Arenal Volcano. From our bedroom we had a spectacular view, even though most times the peak was covered with clouds. I will definitely return when the lava is flowing again, last time was October 2010. The grounds are spectacular and the naturally heated hot springs were soothing and visually stunning. We even stayed in a hot tub during a rainstorm and sought covered under one of the waterfalls. It was a surreal experience that I will never forget. The food was delicious and fair price. The service was top notch as we were constantly pampered like royalty by the entire staff. The hotel grounds were immaculate as they had housekeeping and landscape personnel diligently working round the clock. The best part of the stay for me was seeing the variety of wildlife including toucans, iquanas, hummingbirds and the amazing ocelot enclosure. We went kayaking in the level 2 rapids, a tremendous rush. We went on two fabulous excursions, the Sky Trek-a 1,000 foot up zip line. Can not even describe properly the adrenaline rush on this zip line. Also, we took the hanging bridges tour and saw tons of howler and white faced monkeys. We spent our 25 th anniversary at this resort, first time in Costa Rica. I rank as best hotel in world!

Don Rafinos restaurant in Arenal was AMAZING!!! The crawfish looked and tasted like lobster. Vendors selling purses and jewelry were polite and flexible on price.

“Hotel is Great but Services Lacking”

Hotel is fabulous but services need to be improved. Not friendly or attentive to guests' needs. While dining, wiaters took forever, spilled water, drop a bread into table instead of platter and tried to put it back into the platter if we didn't complain.

“Most Beautiful Resort I've ever seen!”

The Springs Resort is the most beautiful resort I've ever seen and stayed. The rooms were so luxorious and comfortable, including surround sound for your iPod, a perfect view of the volcano with hammocks and humming bird feeders on your porch. I could have slept all day in the most comforatble bed I have ever slept in. The natural hot spring pools were amazing. There were so many pools to choose from varying in temperatures, minerals, waterfalls, slides, bars and lounges. The food was great and the bar tenders were so friendly and kept good conversations. The staff was friendly and helpful and provided great recommendations. I wish we could have stayed our entire trip at the resort. Do NOT go to Costa Rica without staying at least 1 night at the resort!!! It is a must!!

“Great Resort, but make sure that you have your own transportation”

We stayed at the Springs Resort and Spa for 3 nights. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. There are so many pools/spas to choose from that we could easily find one to ourselves at any time of the day. The landscaping is such that you feel that you are almost alone at the resort. We were there during the start of the rainy season (Memorial Day) and this may have added to that feeling. The rooms are extremely well appointed and have amazing views of Mt. Arenal. It was awesome to wake up looking out the window towards the beautiful panarama with the hummingbirds playing in foreground. If you are into workingout during your vacation, they have a well equipped gym, but one of the two treadmills was on the fritz while we were there and I think the weight machines need to be recalibrated (The weights were not accurate). There were only two negatives that I can think of: 1. The resort is far enough from the local attractions that you need to have transportation to get to them. This is carefully regulated by the concierge, for what I believe are greatly inflated prices. There is no taxi service that you can call on your own and if you want to do something like hike the Cerro Chato Trail, for example, the concierge will insist that you do it with a guide at about three times the price of what it would otherwise cost. I would strongly recommend having a rental car in the La Fortuna area. 2. The service in the restaurants was not up to the caliber of the resort.

Area recommendations
Hike the Arenal trail and Cerro Chato trail. Visit the La Fortuna Falls.

“AMAZING!!!”

The only downfall of this place is the terrible condition of the 3.5km road that leads up to it. The hot springs and the beauty of the hotel quickly help forget the rough road.

“Beyond my expectations!”

My visit to The Springs was beyond any description I read before my arrival. The property is pristine yet still maintains a rugged rainforest environment with all the amenities of a five star resort and more. The mineral pools and views are fabulous and rooms are decorated with custom crafted woodwork with a layed-back but high-end luxury feel all around. This is my favorite place in all Costa Rica and well worth going off the beaten path to get there.
