I really like this hotel. It's very clean (if a tiny bit threadbare) and up to international standards, but you feel like you're really in Russia--it has that kitschy post-Soviet feel, without the bad parts about Russian hotels. The view from my room, on the 17th floor, was incredible. The location is convenient--steps from Old Arbat. It's close to Kievskaya metro station and railroad station, though the walk there is a bit tedious, involving either a long flight of stairs from the bridge or a dash across a very wide and busy street/highway.
The hotel was small (about 6 rooms total) and not easy to find at first but for the price it was well worth it. The room (junior suite) we stayed in was clean and the staff was nice. I was told that there would be an English speaking staff member available but that was not the case which was OK as my fiancé is fluent in Russian but this should be taken into consideration if you or someone you are with does not speak the language. The room was slightly hot which was easily remedied by cracking a window. There is a TV in the room that gets a few Russian cable channels if you are into that sort of thing while visiting another country. The metro was a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel which connects you to almost every part of Moscow. There were several restaurants, shops, and a grocery store within a short walk from the hotel. We took a taxi from the hotel to the airport (Sheremetyevo) for 850 rubles (about $12) which was super cheap. All in all I'd recommend this place if you are looking for a decent, reasonably priced place to stay while you explore Moscow.
Spent 5 wonderful nights at the Landmark City Hostel!
Great location at the very heart of Moscow. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Quite surrounding. Nice guests. Would recommend it to everyone
My special thanks goes to Sacha the receptionists who has really done a lot to help, much more than his job description requires. A few times even doing the over time. Спасибо большое Саша!
The Old Arbat is a busy pedestrianised street, lined with cafes and souvenir stalls, where street performers demonstrate traditional Russian dances. The nearby backstreets contain elegant mansions dating from the 19th century. The area is also home to the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the Vakhtangov Theatre, and the New Arbat Street, lined with glass and concrete Soviet-era skyscrapers.
