Great location steps from Central station

Posted 13-Jul-2014
Great location just a few steps from central station. Huge train station-- exit FRONT and hotel is a half block. Neighborhood of central station- to one side is long walking street full of middle class shops and restaurants leading to the main Markt and it is an easy and fun walk there. To front of station is immigrant area and sort of poor but Excellent Chinese and Thai food. Hotel-- do not believe the hype that Ibis Styles says-- this is an ordinary place, nothing special. It is very clean, very safe, next door to a small grocery. Room has no AC and it is HOT in room and noisy with windows open. Room has NO SAFE and has no fridge. But it is a Huge room and big bathroom w a nice shower. Very clean and excellent location. Breakfast is adequate-- all the basics- meats cheeses boiled eggs rolls bread yogurt and cereals but automatic machine nasty coffee. Hotel is fine but not special.

Close to the central station

Posted 20-Apr-2014
Pros: The clerks at the front desk were very accommodating. The breakfast, included in the price, was plentiful and fresh. Location for us was ideal.
Cons: Paint the interior rooms as cheerfully and the ones at the front of the hotel.
Location: Tons of restaurants nearby, especially if you like middle-eastern food. Seek out Bier Centrale around the corner, not far. Over 300 Belgian beers!
This hotel is very close to the central train station, and right in front of a bus and tram transfer area as well. The square near the station is very busy, pretty much at all hours, so consequently you get the noise of a large city, even on upper floors in rooms that face the street. Our first room here was plain, and was located right across from the elevator (one of my personal peeves) and the window looked onto an interior, grungy rooftop with higher walls all around. So we asked for a room at the front and got a cheerfully painted room with fun artwork on the wall. Same dimensions for both rooms, the usual European small quarters but adequate. We did have to close the window eventually that night because of the noise. Next time in Antwerp, we will stay further from the station area. The city zoo is directly across the square from this hotel, right behind the train station, and was very popular.

Pros: breakfast, comfortable bed,big bathroom and good shower
Cons: harsh lighting in bathroom made me look like I was ill...maybe I was.
Location: lots to see and do nearby..lots of restaurants,shops,bars..very close to zoo..bike hire available nearby
very close to railway station..lots to see and do nearby..good base for exploring city and further afield. Clean and comfortable room..very good shower..some nice touches like free coffee in lobby area. Breakfast is standard buffet style and seemed to be kept stocked up. Would happily stay again.

Great for an overnight stay

Posted 05-Mar-2014
Pros: The Airport Express bus stops every hour outside Ibis' door taking you directly to Brussels airport. without having to change trains with luggage.
Location: Central location to zoo, train and shopping.
I always stay at the Ibis overnight before leaving for my international flight out of Brussels in the morning. The attendants all speak English and are quite helpful. My room was clean, with internet reception and basic needs are met for getting a decent night's sleep. You can hear noise in the halls but usually it us minimal. The Airport Express bus stops every hour right outside Ibis' door and drops you at the airport for only10 euros. It's the perfect place because a generous breakfast is included in the room price and there is always coffee, tea or water available in the lobby 24/7. In addition there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area and the famous Antwerp train station is directly across the square if you'd like to venture further. The rooms are adequate for a proper night's sleep Always ask for an inner room not facing the street if you're a light sleeper like me. You'll even find a free bottle of water in your room!

Nice, clean Ibis in a convenient location

Posted 31-Jan-2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness; affordable.
Location: Next to the beautiful Neo-Classical Centraal Station (1905). Walking distance from the Grote Markt, the Cathedral, Museum Aan de Stroom, Rubenshuis.
The four of us were touring Belgium: 4 cities in 6 days. We spent only 24 hours in Antwerp so location was important. This is a nice, clean affordable Ibis hotel in a perfect location next to the beautiful Neo-Classical Antwerp railroad station (1905). It is walking distance from the Grote Markt, The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwenkathedraal, The Rubenshuis, and museums, such as Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Museum Aan de Stroom and the ModeMuseum, as well as restaurants and bars. The staff was friendly.

Great Location, but nothing else.

Posted 09-Nov-2013
Pros: Location. Bed was good.
Cons: Except for the location everything needs improvement.
Location: The one redeeming factor. And the reason I chose the place.
Yes the location is perfect, but it ends there. They offer "free WiFi Internet". This is just a blatant lie. You might get a connection to the internet for 10 minutes, bu then it will just be dead for 2 hours. Their WiFi is a mess, if they reboot the routers it works for 20 minutes then dies again. The speed when it is working is marginally better than dial up. If it was 1994 you might think this acceptable, but not in 2013. The room has nothing, not even a cupboard for cloths or even a clock. Bed is reasonably comfortable. Shower is terrible. The free breakfast was way over priced. One Elevator was broken, the other worked only from some floors some times. (Actually a good thing because it encouraged me to use the stairs.) But the worst thing was the staff. Not that they are bad, they do what they can, but they clearly have instructions to do nothing. They wouldn't even log a support call with the internet supplier. Just a lovely smile and "sorry sir there is nothing we can do".
