Property is close to the Scenic Railroad if you want to walk. Otherwise you can stay in a nearby town, Alamosa. Bigger town and nicer accommodations. The hotel is outdated. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Pros: Excellent location to ride the historic train. Friendly check-in person. Cons: terrible door lock (not safe), the shower barely functions (water comes out the handles and tub spout, what's left trickles from the shower head). Tiny, thin towels and blanket. This place is just worn out. The railroad should buy it and turn it into a nice, convenient place to stay before or after the train ride. I would have paid more for a decent hotel room. Next time, I'll stay in Alamosa, pay more and make the drive down to the train in the morning.

The motel, next to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad station, is an outdated twentieth century motel that needs substantial updating. On the night we stayed there, there were a lot of room vacancies which we felt was odd; especially since it is next to a nationally recognized tourist attraction. On a positive note, the rooms and parking lot were quite clean. Also, the price for each room were reasonable.

First off the room we stayed in was very clean. The lady in the check in area was very friendly. Keep in mind this is an old property, so it was a little run down. The beds were way too hard for my wife and I. The air conditioner was noisy. The exaust fan in the bathroom did not have a cover over it. You get what you pay for. The price was very reasonable compared to other places near by.

The property itself is quiet and peaceful but there's a company next door operating very loud trucks that start early in the morning, so if you're not an early riser that could be a problem for you. The property is a little dated and could use some fresh paint and minor updates. The big plus for this property is that it is next door to the Cumbers &Toltec Scenic Railroad so if you don't want to make the 1/2 drive from Alamosa to ride the train, this hotel is the place to stay. The people working the front desk are very nice and helpful. They get an A from me.

Caretaker was very helpful. The room was OK bed not comfortable, toilet was very small. the fridge was noisy. Probable wouldn't stay there again.

The Narrow Gauge Railroad Inn is an old motel right next to the Narrow Gauge Railroad. The staff was great. The rooms were exceptionally clean and we were very comfortable in the beds. The only problem we had was the drain in the bathtub when we showered. The bathtub would fill up faster than the water would drain. The price was great and I would stay here again.

The room was very dated, there was no microwave, fridge in the room, no ice machine, we had to ask for ice, the bed was extreme uncomfortable, we could feel the spring from the mattress.

This hotel is 100 yards away from the train station so if you're here to ride the train you can't beat the location. The room was very clean but it lack amenities: no microwave or fridge, ice machine was broken but manager had ice for us from their ice machine whenever we asked for it. Very limited CATV but wi-fi worked find. Staff was very personable and positive. Will stay again
