“Yepton Estate cottages - fabulous”

Gabie & Douglas are great warm & friendly hosts, nothing is too much trouble & they will help you arrange a hire car in advance if required. Douglas shares his extensive knowledge of the islands beaches, restaurants and roads with you & we found this invaluable. The cottages are in a lovely quiet location, but are also very conveniently situated close to St John's & the airport. The cottages are reallly well maintained & everything you need is supplied - great extras include satellite tv, a DVD player & music system, beach chairs & ample towels & linens. You can also borrow DVDs & books. I can't recommend these cottages highly enough -we will be back.

“BEST VACATION EVER!”

We stayed at Yepton Estate Cottages for a blissful week. . . From our arrival -- when Gabby welcomed us with cool cloths and a bottle of wine -- to our departure -- where Gabby gave us a book to read on the plane and we stopped Doug as he was driving down the road back to Yepton to share goodbyes -- we had THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME EVER! The studio cottage in which we stayed was roomy, comfortable, clean, and so very charming. It was such a pleasure to awake and fall asleep in such a beautiful place where we overlooked the lake, watched rare birds, and swam in the ocean after a short walk to the beach. Upon our arrival Gabby took us to the store to get all the supplies we needed and Doug came by the next morning to go over the map and suggest places we might want to visit. The cell phone they gave us came in handy on more than one occasion. Their presence was unobtrusive but it was comforting to know that they were there in case we needed them. Antigua is gorgeous and Gabby and Doug helped us get the most out of our experience there. We wholeheartedly and without hesitation recommend Yepton Estate Cottages to anyone and everyone interested in visiting the wonderful island of Antigua. As for us, we will be returning to Antigua and staying at Yepton Estates the next chance we get!

“A magical time.”

Well equipped with everything that you could want or need. Very comfortable. I had a one bedroom cottage which felt spacious to me with a suberb kitchen and terrace. Extremely clean. Very good value. Gabriela and Douglas who run these cottages are so helpful, I mentoned being interested in natural history and binoculars, bird and flower books were found for me to use during the week. They helped in so many other ways, I felt like a friend rather than a paying guest. I travelled as a lone female and felt completely safe during the week I was staying there even with no one else staying in the other cottages. there is excellent security on site which was most reassuring.

Getting around
I used the local buses and found these easy and cheap. A hire car is a good idea though if you want to see more of the island, bus routes do not cover all areas.
What to pack
Sun tan lotion, the higher protection the better. Insect repellent and cream, the sand flies are ferocious. Sensible footwear, you are half a mile from the nearest bus stop.

“Yepton is an idyllic, peaceful retreat”

We recently spent a week's vacation at the wonderful Yepton Estate Cottages, and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Upon our arrival via an airport taxi, our gracious hosts Gabby and Douglas greeted us by our first names, whisked our luggage to our cottage for us, and offered us a cold beverage, which was quite refreshing after many hours of traveling! It was the perfect start to a fabulous week. We stayed in one of the studio cottages, which was spotless and extremely well-appointed. There wasn't anything we missed while we were there. The grounds are also quite lovely - we enjoyed the company of a little bird who visited us on our porch for breakfast each day! There is also a nice beach within a few minutes walk of the cottages, for those days when you don't feel like venturing out by car to any of Antigua's other 364 gorgeous beaches! Staying at Yepton is a truly special and unique vacation experience. With only four cottages on the whole property, it is miles away from the massive all-inclusive resort scene. However, the level of service is second to none. Gabby and Douglas are extremely thoughtful in the information and assistance that they provide their guests - they have truly mastered the art of providing attentive, personalized service without infringing upon their guests' personal space. We had an amazing trip, and would whole-heartedly recommend Yepton to other travelers!

“Exceptionally good-highly recommended!”

I had heard about the cottages from a good friend who stayed here last year about and raved about the wonderful hospitality of the hosts, Gabriella and Douglas. Her recommendation is now greatly appreciated because having just visited with my husband and in-laws, I can firmly say this place is absolutely fantastic. The attention to detail by Gabby and Douglas is spot on and the cottages are well located, well equipped and maintained to an extremely high standard. Gabby and Douglas are on hand to give accurate and helpful advice about the island and making the most of your holiday. I loved staying here and having stayed at a number of great hotels and holiday rentals over the years, I would confidently say it is the most enjoyable place I have ever stayed on holiday.

Area recommendations
There are a number if fantastic beaches and areas to explore. Your hosts give you the full low down on arrival and really good restaurant recommendations.

“Absolutely Oustanding!”

Gabriella and Doug's Yepton Cottages provided us with an outstanding base for our Antiguan adventure. From the moment we arrived until we reluctantly took our taxi to the airport, we felt completely at home in our excellently kitted out cottage. Gabi and Doug took excellent care of us, supplying us with everything we needed, booking things for us, giving us advice and showing a generosity of time and resources which absolutely made our holiday. The island itself was friendly, relaxed and absolutely stunning. The beaches, wildlife, vegitation and food were varied and interesting, and our cottage provided the best possible base to experience it from. You can't buy the level of service and genuine concern both Gabi and Doug had that we had an amazing time. It was worth every penny, and neither my girlfriend or I would hesitate to return (as we hope to do) at some point in the future. It's just a shame we can't give more than 5...

Area recommendations
All over! every area is varied and beautiful. We would recommend going on an Eco Tour boat day to see it all!
Getting around
We didn't drive, which was the only down side to our trip, as it would have granted us a level of freedom which would have allowed us to see even more of the island. Taxis were expensive, but good and invariably friendly and helpful. Buses were a great experience, but slightly irratic in terms of timings etc., so I definately would use them for trips requiring precision timing!

“Can't Wait to Go Back, excellent host and hostess!”

We really enjoyed Yepton Estate Cottages. It meant all of our needs. You will definitely enjoy meeting Gabby and Douglas. They are wonderful host and hostess. They are four small cottages located on a salt water lagoon. The salt water lagoon has many types of birds in it. There is also a possibility of catching some fish. One of the guest actually caught a fish while we were there. There is a small pool centered between the cottages. We enjoyed laying by the pool and then taking a dip to cool off. Every one of the cottages has a outside barbeque to use. The cottages are fully equiped with all the necessary cooking essentials. Since we didn't rent a car, Gabby was more then willing to take us to the supermarket to get stocked up on some food. We really enjoyed lounging and relaxing at Yepton Estate Cottages. It's a short 5 to 10 minute walk to a sandy beach. We went to the beach at least every other day. We wanted to book some excursions and Gabby was more then willing to do this for us. Yepton Estate Cottages are a prefect place to just relax or as a jumping off point to explore beautiful Antigua and Barbuda. If you get a chance, we would recommend doing the day trip to Barbuda. It's a beautiful island and well worth the expense to see the pink sand. Overall, we had a great time at Yepton Estate Cottages and will recommend it to all of our friends.

Area recommendations
I would recommend traveling to Barbuda. It's a beautiful place and well worth taking a day trip.

“A home away from home. Want to go back!!!”

I can not tell you what a wonderful time we had in Antigua and at the Yepton Cottages. My husband and I and another couple went in January. It was the perfect place. Gabriella and Doug own the cottages, it is extremely well maintained with all the amenities needed and beautiful landscaping. Upon arrival, Gabriella and Doug welcomes you with a drink and The cottages were all ready for us to check-in. They were beautifully decorated with all the appliances needed, even an electric kettle and blender. It is a home away from home. The area is very peaceful and you can hear the ocean from your balcony. There is no beach on site howver a 2 minute walk if that down the road is a beautiful beach. They even provide you with a cooler, beach towels and portable chairs which is very handy especially if you want to visit all 365 beaches!!! Doug also sits down and goes through the whole map of antigua with you giving you fantastic recommendations of restaurants, beaches, sites and many more tips that you would only know if a local told you. They can even arrange car hire for you. I highly recommend a car if you want to travel around the island. There is more, they also provide you with a cell phone in case of emergency and you need to get a hold of one of them. They also have internet in the cottages should you need it. Wonderful people, wonderful island and a wonderful place to stay. I would go back in a heart beat!

Area recommendations
The cottages are approx 5 miles away from the heart of downtown in a very safe and quiet area. Another very nice area is on the south of the island near old english harbour. Dickenson bay is more commercialized with more people due to it being the location of the Sandals resort.

“Wonderful Christmas at Yepton Estates”

Given all the 5 star reviews Yepton Estate Cottages has already received, it is hard to add much new information. However, I can confirm what other travelers have already said -- Gabriella and Douglas are wonderful hosts, the property is in a idyllic setting, the beach within easy walking distance is beautiful, and the cottages are extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Gabriella and Douglas with a glass of wine, and a quick introduction to the island. Even though we had a rental car, they kindly offered to take us on a shopping excursion to the grocery store so we could get acclimated, and not have the pressure of trying to navigate through the main city of St. John on our first afternoon on the Island. The grocery, a store called Epicurean, is a very large and well stocked – as nice as any high end grocery in the US. As other visitors have mentioned, it is a real advantage to have a car to explore the island. Gabby and Douglas have an encyclopedic knowledge of all the best beaches, restaurants and sites of interest. You can easily traverse the island in a couple of hours (watch the potholes) and there are many beautiful beaches (e.g. Half Moon Bay and Tranquility Bay) and excellent restaurants ideal for a leisurely lunch (e.g. Catherine's Café and Harmony Hall). In summary, if you are looking for a very laid back week in the Islands, perfectly executed, Yepton Cottages is the place to be.

“This is the place!”

Our stay at Yepton was perfect. We were welcomed not only by cozy lakeside cottages, but also the warm hospitality of Gaby And Douglas with whom we became fast friends. Yepton is not a commercialized hotel, it's a few intimate cottages (perfect for those looking for a more private vacation) run by two incredible hosts who showed us around and while they built a close personal rapport with us they were never intrusive - in fact they were one of the highlights of our trip. The cottages are cozy, with a full kitchen and BBQ so you can cook if you want (we ate out sometimes and other times cooked our own meals with fresh local produce). The lake there is pretty (and you can fish) and it’s only a few minute walk to the beach on the other side. We decided not to rent a car, but Gaby was gracious enough to let us catch rides with her into town to get groceries. The beaches are beautiful, and I highly recommend going during low season - we went in June and sometimes had gorgeous beaches all to ourselves! We've been to several Caribbean islands, and each has its high points, but between our hosts’ hospitality, the intimate cottages, beautiful beaches, great seafood and friendly people, this trip was overall one of our favorite Caribbean experiences. Yepton is the perfect place for privacy, and our stay would not have been complete without Gaby and Douglas. We will certainly visit Antigua again in the future and would not stay anywhere but Yepton.
