“higher than 3* star rating given - very good hotel”
We were very pleased with the Verandah - rooms; food;staff;facilities and other guests. Much better than it's official 3 star+ rating. Very good facilities and lots to do there. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Slighty disappointed in the 'silver service' Nicole's restuarant - not as good as made out to be but all other restuarants were very good. Would definitely go back again.
“Great holiday...will definitely go back”
Fabulous location, two beaches & 3 pools. The resort was very clean with beautiful manicured gardens. The food was excellent with a great choice but the wine (white & red) were poor in taste....acidic! But to make up for it there was a good range of branded alcoholic beverages'. Staff were pleasant and Management in the hotel made you feel very welcome. The only thing that needed re-furbishing was the deck chairs on the beach; they were in a poor state! The resort had an excellent Gym. We had a great vacation, the weather was hot and sunny in November 2011 and we would consider going back.
“Fantastic hotel on the lovely island of Antigua”
We had an amazing time at the Veranda Beach hotel. Friendly staff and a great location. Would go back there tomorrow!!
“Fantastic value for money”
A lovely setting, excellent facilities, friendly & attentive service.... all in all, a wonderful experience !
“love the fish and sh”
Amazing place, love the food.love the fish and chips, the shrimp salas on beach grill, very clean nice garden , long beach is so beatufull walking to devil bridge, you need to rent a car is 20 min from airport and 25 from city of saint john, nice barbecue party on sunday, and very european crow, if you are american and not educated traveler go to other resort, nice pool area, love this place will be back
“Beautiful Retreat away from it All”
This was my first time with an "all inclusive", so did not really know what to expect. The location, the layout, the staff and the amenities were all exceptional. It is an accommodating and welcome environment. We went as a "couple", but the presence of extended families and children only added to the "welcome" sensibility of the environment. Maybe because I am American, I am inherently fearful of vacationing families, and parents who let their screaming children run wild and unsupervised...hence the rest of the traveling world think we are savages.... Thankfully, for a venue that seemed pretty Euro (mostly Brit and Italian) the US families were fine, and their offspring behaved like normal citizens of the world:)
“Was very impressed.......”
This was my 1st trip to Antigua & chose Vernanda............. Bartenders were the best, always remebered your drink of choice and kept a smile. The beach staff taught us how to sail (Carlos). The beach wasn't deep at all, we went far out and water was still below shoulders. My only complaint was the bed felt like a rock!!
“Loved the Verandah!”
Our recent vacation to the Verandah on Antigua was wonderful. My husband and I traveled with another couple and spent 5 nights in January, 2011 at the resort. Our room was comfortable, spacious and had a great view of the water. The food was good for the most part. Try the chocolate lava cake at Nicole's, the mango crush drink and fish and chips at the beach bar. The beaches at the Verandah are small, just like the pictures on the website. There were plenty of lounge chairs and shade by the beach. The water is beautiful! That glorious shade of blue that you expect in the Caribbean. It was fun to take out the kayaks, paddle boats and hobie cats. Take a walk to Devil's bridge, an easy 10 minute walk from the beach. Gorgeous! Also walk to Long Beach, about 5 minutes from the lobby. Other than those two things, there is not much else outside the resort. We met the nicest people at the Verandah from all over the world. Because the guests gather in one central location for meals, the beautiful bar area is a great place to strike up a conversation. Friendly staff as well. Every evening there is entertainment. This is a great resort for couples or families. Night life is very low key, but that is just what we were looking for! The pool is huge with lots of chairs as well. There is one computer for guests to use at guest services near the main pool. We would absolutely return to the Verandah and have already recommended it to friends.
“Will Go Back Again”
The staff at the Verandah were very friendly. We enjoyed having access to the water sports on the premises, enjoyed the meals and the beach. Our verandah was located near the main pool so we were fortunate to stay in an excellent area of the resort. Overall great experience! Can't wait to go back.
“Beautiful Resort”
This was probably the best landscaped resort I have ever been to. It was absolutely beautiful. Even though the resort was busy, it was never crowded. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The beaches and pools were always spotless. The hotel is at the non-developed side of the island so it was always a long drive to get anywhere. Service, however, was mediocre although this tends to be the case wherever you go in the Caribbean. The food was also only mediocre. There was plenty of it but the quality was not great. Overall, we had a fantastic vacation in a truly idyllic location and I would consider going back again. However, this time I would remember to take the bug spray... the mosquitoes were horrendous.
