“Lovely welcome to Antigua”
A warm welcome at Reception, with a cold flannel and a cool drink in this (for us) unaccustomed heat, a quiet room with a lovely view looking out over the sea, and good meals. Staff were very friendly, and we enjoyed the evening Manager's Reception. Do not expect a plush room. It was adequate but the electrics gave a cause for some concern with one broken plug, there was no socket to take the coffee maker and one of the lampshades was just precariously perched on the bulb.
“Great Intimate Wedding at Halcyon Cove”
We recently got married on the grounds of Halcyon Cove. The experience was wonderful and all staff, and particularly their wedding coordinator, did their very best to meet all our requirements and ensure we had the perfect day. We could not be happier with their services from the day we arrived til the day we left and the wedding day exceeded our expectations. We can't recommend it enough!
“Cant wait to go back”
The hotel is a 3 star so pretty average, but the staff are absolutely brilliant they really put their selfs out to make your stay really enjoyable 5 star
“Friendly and good value.”
This resort has a lot going for it. The staff welcome and positive attitude to their guests helped make it a pleasant stay, in particular the barman at the beach bar and the chap who led aqua-aerobics. The food was good, well presented and a varied choice. Its location on the bay is great - a mile long safe sandy beach, ideal for families. The only down side it that it needs a bit of upkeep, a bit tatty but in a homely way, but at the price we paid it represented very good value and we only wished we had planned to stay longer. We had all-inclusive which was well worthwhile. It was an ideal stop-over changing flights to go on to the British Virgin Islands, being close to the airport.
“Living on its laurels”
If you are after a lazy beach holiday with not much else to do -- this is it. Hotel, is OK and the rooms fine as well as the food. It was good getting to eat 2 times a week on the pier. Biggest problem I had was that you had to queue for just about everything. In general the staff did a great job ( although some of them are really surly) - unfortunately you cannot say the same for the management (or lack of it) - they could not organize a pi**-up in brewery - planning is an alien concept!! . Went all inclusive - and for the money it was OK. It is too far out of St John's to walk and there is nothing around the hotel. Rented a car for 2 days from the rental place in the hotel - cheaper than the tour reps. It was worth it as we had a couple of lazy days toodling around. Antigua is real quiet, pretty but there is not much action in the place.Having done it, I'd not go back.
