“Excellent”
Have been to Antigua many, many times. Hotel is exceptional value for English/Falmouth Harbor location. Much activity in the area (excellent restaurants, bars, etc., etc.). Beach 15 minute walk. View wonderful. But, would be best to have a car. Be sure to go to Le Cap Horn French Restaurant - it is truely exceptional and a great value.
“Fine location in Falmouth”
Very pleasant stay with goog local amenities
“Reasonably priced and comfortable”
The stay was good. All the needs were at the hotel with trhe exception of internet access from the rooms. No pre paid cards available nor any wireless connections. All in all it was ok
“Good value, but a few glitches”
I stayed here for 5 nights during October ("off season"), when there were few other guests around. I loved the spacious rooms with their Asian-style wooden furniture - including an extremely comfortable bed - and the balcony overlooking hummingbird-filled bushes and English Harbour. The wifi worked quite well, and I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen (there is a handy supermarket directly across the road). There appeared to be very few staff around, but those I met were very helpful and friendly. However, there were some problems: (1) the refridgerator was broken; (2) the wall lights worked intermittently, as though there was a short circuit; (3) the telephone rang several times every night at 3am, waking me up; and, worst of all (4) during heavy rain, the rain leaked through the bathroom ceiling lights and flooded the room. The hotel staff acted promptly when I alerted them to the problems, but I got the impression there needed to be more staff to check and maintain the rooms, even in the low season. Would I go back? Yes. It is a charming hotel and an excellent location, and the staff are friendly. But next time I will take care to make sure everything in the room is in good working order before unpacking.
“I loved it and the price was nice!”
I really can't complain, I got an amazing low price on this hotel+the round trip flight. In my opinion, this should be a 4 star hotel vs the 3-1/2 star rank given by Expedia (but that's ok, I appreciate Expedia's conservative approach). In my travels, I've stayed in several hotels that were given 4 stars...and in reality they were like 2-3 stars. Case and point, the Hilton Olympia hotel in London, but that's a whole other story in itself and it was booked through a different company anyway. To say it honestly, my vacation in Antigua was incredible and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina hotel enhanced the experience even more. The only downside to this hotel, is that the front desk is only there from like 9am to 5pm, but the security guards helped me pretty much all hours of the day/night. There was also no breakfast available at this hotel when I visited on 9/2011, but the Skulldoggery Cafe right next door filled in that void. Besides, once I got the view of the English Harbour from the hotel, I could of cared less about the limited front desk hours and breakfast. Quite a nice area...indeed, and I think Eric Clapton might have a home somewhere in the vicinity. Well, enough of that rant.......so, if you get a low price on this hotel, book it, because I don't think you will be dissapointed, but if it's too costly, then look for somewhere else to stay....because there are other great properties on the island. Either way, Antigua is a great place and I would love to come back.
“Good buy for the price”
The hotel is conveniently located at Nelson's Dockyard Marina, with the historic dockyards a 5 minute walk away. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a large balcony. The receptionist planned our 2 days there, recommending very good restaurants, the steel band concert at Sheila heights and the shuttle to the lovely beach. The only shortcomings were that the hotel doesn't offer breakfast, so you have to go search for it, and the receptionist is only on duty from 9AM to 6 PM. It is located on the opposite side of the island from St.John, so if you're fond of shopping, there's not much, but who cares when there're good beaches and restaurants near by!
“this hotel surpassed our expectations!”
The hotel is well located in Falmouth Harbour, near English Harbour and Nelson's Dockyard. It has an interesting view over the harbour and marina. Our bedroom was large and airy, with a balcony overlooking the marina, with a spacious bathroom. There was plenty of activity to watch, and not noisy while we were there, (although if there was a regatta on I suppose it could get lively!) There was a large gym and other facilities which we did not have time to explore. No restaurant in the hotel, but several within 5 minutes' walk.
“Gorgeous view of the harbor”
The hotel room was fine. I've stayed in nicer places for less money, but you can't beat the location if you're wanting to be near the harbor. We were catching up with our daughter between her trans-atlantic sails and her boat was just feet away from the hotel. The boats in the marina were unbelievable (it also happened to be in between race weeks). Unfortunatley, the sailing crowd like to party (loudly) till late in the night and the noise was bothersome even though our windows were closed. All in all it was a pleasant trip: the water at Pigeon Beach was perfect and we enjoyed the international crowd that the race weeks attracted.
