“Very quaint,”

This was the only b&b we stayed at during our whirlwind tour of Ireland. I don't usually care for them, but this one was great! We really enjoyed our short stay here. We arrived late after a long day of drivng. We were greeted by the owner who was able to suggest a couple of pubs to grab a pint and relax in. We had already eaten which was a good thing, because it did not appear that we could get food that late. (about 9:30) The town is quite small and the hotel is right on the main street. There are numerous pubs, but not much else. There were many locals in the pub who were all very friendly and made several suggestions for our travels the next day. For breakfast we were once again assisted by the owner who offered to make us a hot breakfast. We elected to instead have just some cereal and coffee. The room here was small but clean and well kept. I would definitely stay here again.

The Dingle Penninsula is breathtakingly beautiful. Definitely worth making the effort to see. It is quite long to drive the entire penninsula, so we cut our trip a little short. Still magnificent to see!
Getting there
Careful when renting a car in Ireland. It cost much more than our reservations quoted. They did give use a "free" upgrade to an automatic when we reserved a stick. They made their money in other ways however. Do your research in advance. The company we used insisted that we take their insurance for $20 euro a day or charge our credit card for $4000 euro in case of an accident. We took the Insurance and they still charged our card $1500 euro unless we upgraded to the insurance that cost an additional $20 euro a day. Enough was a enough. We only took the first insurance and our reservation price which was $180 euro, wound up being more like $330 euro at the end.

“Lovely and Quiet”

It was my first time in Ireland and I was glad I got to stay at this hotel in a quiet, quaint, little town. There's a restaurant in the Inn that's open 'til 9:30pm i think. Breakfast was good as well. You'll definitely need a rental car to explore the surrounding area...like driving around the Dingle Peninsula. Otherwise, if you're into hiking...plenty lovely places to hike as I've notice many other tourists did. There's also Free Wifi and parking at street or front of hotel--very safe. Bea and Bryan were helpful and welcoming.

Area recommendations
drive around the DINGLE PENINSULA--and you'll notice the beauty right away! It's my favorite place of all the places I got to visit in Ireland. :) Try Inch beach as well--about a 10-15min drive from the hotel. Dingle town is about a 25 min drive and have more of the restaurants, stores and banks.

“Clean - no thrills”

I have a mixed emotion about his place. While it was cheap, it was somewhat expensive for the location and comfort. The matress was HARD (more than "firm"). The other thing that was a surprise was that while I knew the credit card had not been charged by Expedia - buyer beware - they do not take credit cards and their is not an ATM in close proximity which made it hard to part with what little cash we had on hand. We blew all our cash and had to find an ATM on a Sunday because the banks were closed.

Area recommendations
Annascaul is somewhat out of the way to many attractions and the town does not have much going on.

“Great value and location”

Well maintained and attractive B&B in a small fishing village just a few miles outside Dingle town. Our host, Brian, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Dingle peninsula. He gave us great advice on places to see and scenic routes to take. Breakfast was served in his attached restaurant. It was nicely presented and well prepared. He also serves a great made to order pizza. Definitely would stay there again.

“Perfect stopover away from tourist traps”

My wife and I weren't expecting much considering the price but when we arrived, we were very pleasantly surprised. Extremely clean and quaint, we were greeted with a smile that never faded. So accommodating in every way. Brian and his wife own the recently renovated place. They cook, they clean, they do everything. Living in L.A., we aren't quite accustomed to trusting people. When we realized that we ran out of Euros and had only dollars, Brian said not to worry about it, that we could order whatever we wanted and to just come back tomorrow to pay for it. We had a reservation for Skellig Michael the next morning. So, we checked out, promised to return, went site seeing, then to the bank, then back to the Anchor Inn. We paid and continued enjoying the rest of our Irish vacation. It was amazing. For a hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas on a quaint street and only a few steps away from a wonderful old pub (can't remember the name of it but if you're on the street facing Anchor Inn, it's to your left about 50 ft.) you can't do much better than the Anchor Inn.

Area recommendations
If you can, go to Skelig Michael. The weather conditions must be right or the boats can't land on this ancient Munk island. It was the highlight of our trip. But be warned: 600 steps up and 600 down is fatiguing. Without hand rails or other safety equipment that would otherwise detract from the beauty, it can be treacherous if you're not careful. You've never seen anything like it. It's so worth it if you can go.
When to go
We were there in late June and the sun didn't set until around 9pm so it was still light at 930 or 10pm. Pubs stop serving early so if you get caught up sightseeing, you may miss your chance to eat if you don't plan accordingly. It's easy to lose track of time. The locals told us the sun is up for 20 hours by the end of the summer. Crazy!
Getting around
We rented a manual transmission. It took a bit of getting used to shifting with the left hand while driving on the "wrong" side of the road but it was worth the savings. Also, when making your reservation, opt for the car insurance offered by Expedia. We decided to get it when we arrived and it was more than the car itself. Also, if you decide to use your credit card insurance, know that they will put a temporary charge against it for the value of the car. Which is fine if you plan to use a second card to travel on. Also, take a GPS or rent one. We discovered some gorgeous roads and isolated beaches without having to worry about getting lost on our way back. Very comforting. We took our GPS but had to purchase maps of Europe. It was about $100 but sooooooooo worth it.
Must see
Skellig Michael (ancient munk island) in Kerry Cliffs of Moher Guinness Factory in Dublin (go to the 360 bar at the top) Ring of Kerry

“The Anchor Inn is Fantastic!”

The owners were prepared for our stay, since we were the people with the longest stay we got the best room, which was lovely. Everything was clean, well made, worked and convenient. The owners went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful. A great stay. The only two things to be aware of is that this is primarily a bed and breakfast catering to hikers rather than a standard hotel, and that they do not take credit cards.

Area recommendations
Annascaul is a small village surrounded by beautiful scenery. For activities there are basically hiking and drinking in pubs, and that's it, but they do it very well. If you want more excitement then you should go to Dingle.
