“what a lovely suprise”

when i arrived at 2am, after a long and arduous day of traveling, i had to pull out my papers to make sure that i was at the right place... surely this lovely hotel could not be the bargain i had booked on expedia? well, it was, and i couldn't have been more pleased... the lobby is absolutely gorgeous, very classy, and the entire staff could not have been more gracious. my only complaint is that the beds are not particularly comfortable, but the nice assortment of pillows and the fluffy duvet (instead of the ubiquitous bedspread)more than made up for it. i am planning on returning in the spring.

“Clean and comfortable.”

Room #340. Lamp next to bed didn't work. Bulb out??? We chose this hotel because it had a pool but when we got into the water, I thought it was too cold and got back out. However, I felt that the hot tub made up for it. King size bed made for a fabulous comfortable night! Convenient for location of destination, plenty of restaurants nearby, ironing board/iron, hair dryer, and fridge came in handy to keep medication cold.

Area recommendations

We stayed in the Whitmore Lake area. Our hotel was next to the mall. This was a new area of Michigan for us so we have no opinion as to the best place to be. Traffic was thick, even without a game on campus during the time we were there. We were comfortable in our location and did not feel safety was an issue.

What to pack

Since sometimes packing is done at the last minute due to certain work schedules or arrangements for matters while away, I have found keeping a checklist for packing in my computer system makes it a breeze, especially for frequent traveling. With experience I have managed to tweak the list here and there in order to avoid forgetting anything. Then as it becomes time for the trip, I can print off the list and not have to think too hard or long.

“Very happy U of M parent”

The location was just perfect for us. We only needed to sleep there and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean, perfect temperature and very quiet surroundings. We were very happy with the room.

“Highly recommended”

Was very satisfied with the hotel, hotel srevice and the location. I was nice to see that the staff took effort to decorate the entrance for halloween. I plan on staying there everytime I go to Detroit

“Not Overly Impressed”

For the price we paid to stay in the executive wing, it was not worth it. I know they raise the rates for home Michigan games... The room was small, the bathroom was even smaller. There was a mini fridge that had some bottles of water and pop in it; and a small microwave. There was also a desk and a small chair. The continental breakfast was ok- fruit,muffins, bagels, oatmeal, juice...etc. The hotel was nice, however would have preferred a bigger room, or at least a bigger bathroom.... the door is less than a foot away from the toilet.. Did not get to see the snacks and wine in the evenings to rate that.

“Dingy and Dowdy..”

We weren't expecting the Ritz but this place is rough around the edges. Dings, dents poor workmanship evident in the rooms and public spaces such as hallways and elevators. No mattress pad on the bed had to request one and it didn't cover the whole mattress. Coffee/ Tea bags and cups not replaced after first use. Bed not particularly comfortabel with the bare minimum pillows. Staff pleasant enough, the lobby area was nicely furnished but the rooms just looked cheap. The shower leaked water all over the floor.
