Good hotel for conventions not for tourists.

Posted 11-Jun-2014
Pros: Excellent service from the concierge
Cons: Quicker response to guests inquiries from the phone operator and from maintenance
Location: Excellent location.
room phone did not work. Maintenance people try to fixe it w/0 any success. We call several times for resolving the problem. Nothing happen in the 3 days we were in Ankara. I had to use the phone in the hall outside of my room during my stay in this hotel.

A good business hotel doing what it says on tin

Posted 23-Nov-2013
Pros: Pool. Helpful business centre. They've scrapped the internet access charge so in easy contact with the rest oft he world.
Cons: Fruit tea with room drinks making capability. Not a fan of wet rooms.
Location: Unfortunately an hour and a quarter walk to the historic areas (Citadel, stunning artefacts in Museum of Anatolian Civilisations, Roman Baths)
Arrived very late, simple check-in and so to bed. Attended conference for which the hotel did excellent catering. Good restaurants (esp fish) and stylish non-chain coffee place within easy walk. Taxi available at 0415 hours to get me back to the airport.

Great location- could improve organization

Posted 19-Nov-2013 on Hotels.com
This was my second time staying at the Sheraton in Ankara. It is in a great location, walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and great cafes. There is even a Carrefore (grocery store) nearby to pick up snacks. Most recently, I flew into Ankara from Korea and was incredibly jetlagged upon arriving at the hotel at 10:00am. Even though it was much too early to check in, the kind hotel staff took pity on my having traveled for 20 hours and allowed me to check in early (THANK YOU). That being said, there were some things that they could improve on (as I know they are recently under new management and are trying to make an effort to improve. For one, I had a package delivered about 4 days before my arrival with BIG CLEAR instructions to hold the package for me. When I asked the reception whether it had arrived, they said it hadn't. I then checked the tracking info, and in fact it had arrived but the hotel could not find it. Finally, they tracked down the employee who had signed for it and were about to find it about 48 hours later. So, the package was ultimately found but I had to follow up quite a few times for anything to be done. This whole ordeal could have been avoided had their been a system in place to deal with this situation. In addition, breakfast was not included and would have been extremely expensive to add on. There is a free internet option, but was very very slow, so be aware of that as well.

Hotel is nice, comfortable with great staff but rooms are the same for the last 20 years and need updates, and paying for internet is just not a good idea in this century

Always reliable

I have been staying at this hotel for the last 16 years. It always has a reliable and satisfactory quality. I was glad to see that there were small changes such as flat screen TVs and such.

Best Hotel in Ankara

Posted 11-May-2013
Pros: Staff and great WiFi connection
Cons: None
Location: Central location to Embassy District and Kugulu Park in Ankara. Amazing
I truly was treated like a King. The front desk staff were amazing. The business office staff and equipment was amazing. The WiFi and communications were amazing. The security was great for the meetings I was having. I would recommend the Sheraton Ankara to anyone who loves to do business and have fun travelling.

OK for a brief business visit

Posted 12-Sep-2012
Pros: The staff
Cons: Cost of food and accommodation
Location: Excelllent for business
The location is excellent; the staff very good; the fitness spa OK. However, the general tenor of the hotel is rather dated and in need of a "makeover". Furnishings are tired and carpets faded. Food is good but over priced, as is the cost of accommodation. There are other hotels nearby that offer better value for money.
