“Staying at Hotel Alyeska made it hard to go home!”
I stayed at Hotel Alyeska off-season, so they were able to upgrade me to a higher floor which had an amazing view of the valley and the mountains. One whole wall of my room was windows - just incredible! The room was spacious, but felt cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable, and there was a separate small couch and chair for watching TV. Everyone I met was friendly and down to earth. I ordered room service, ate in the hotel restaurants, used the spa, shopped in the Sundry Store, used the bell hops, and interacted with housekeeping. All services were excellent, and everyone was gracious and kind. Turn down service each night included chocolates and free bottled water. The public areas of the hotel are charming - fireside lounges, fire pits outside, pond and garden areas, and Alaskan decor. The hotel tram to the top of the mountain was closed for annual service, but this was well publicized on expedia, so I knew before going. I cannot wait to go back in both the summer and winter to experience even more of the Alyeska and the whole Girdwood area!
“A luxurious resort in the mountains”
Alaska's winter destination - it's a luxurious ski lodge with all the amenities that are not easily found in Alaska. We went "off season" in the fall, but it was still busy and the hiking was beautiful.
“Alyeska”
This is a premier, 5 star resort. The only negative is the food pricing, so go a couple miles into town and eat at the Silvertip. Great food, locals and tourists alike. A truly great place to stay and see the beauty, and only 35 miles south of the Anchorage airport. Another negative is the price to ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain, especially since the restaurant was closed. But overall an excellent experience.
“Our 40th Wedding Anniversary”
Stayed one night, all we could afford but a very special night in a beautiful place. Wish we could have stayed longer. Everything right their in the hotel.
“Nice but overpriced.”
This was our second stay at this resort. The resort is nice, however, it is very expensive (restaurants, activities, etc.). So, if you are heading this way, expect to spend a lot of money.
“Great Ski Hotel”
This is a great hotel to stay at if you are ever in Girdwood. The rooms were large and clean. There were french doors that you could close off the main bedroom area from the bathroom/closet area. They gave you free bottles of water and turndown service. They have a GREAT indoor pool and hot tub (the biggest I've ever seen). I would highly recommend this to anyone.
“Good hotel when not traveling”
In general a very good and comfort hotel and have good facilities in it. However, it is almost an hour drive from Anchorage and farther from other attractions in Alaska. Therefore it is good for people that are going to just stay in the hotel or visit the sky resorts surrounding it, but not as an hotel for one nigh stay during a trip in Alaska. A major problem in the hotel is that it has rooms where you hear very loudly the flushing of the toilets in the room above. I had this problem in room 759 and I had to change the room (probably there are other rooms with this problem). Therefore, unless you have a hearing problems make sure not to stay in room 759!
“Peace and quiet in the trees”
This is a beautiful hotel nestled in the trees. There are great walking trails for those who wish to see nature up close. For meals, you have the choice of several restaurants on site or a couple more just a short distance from the hotel. This is a great place to stay! We will remember it fondly for years to come. So glad we were able to share it with our 14 yr old grandson.
“Worth the short drive from Anchorage”
Absolutely beautiful in the summer when we went. There are an abundance of hiking trails all around the hotel itself and in Girdwood.
“Great Hotel, Great Views, Great Hiking”
The hotel is an amazing way to visit Alaska. The hotel is very nice, and the views are even better. The tram ride up the hill and hiking trails are great. Staff is frindly. Downside: As you've probably already noticed the price is pretty high, but that's just for the room. Spending a day at this place will bust any budget. The tram ride up the hill is expensive but not nearly as bad as the cost of food which is not very good quality at all. It's not the worst food ever but not any better than your local fish fry. The rooms also have little signs on a lot of things like the coffee mugs showing some outrageous price they'll charge you if you take it home, it's like staying in a gift shop. If you are in anchorage area, you should try the Glacier Brewhouse. The food is so good we had to go back again. It is downtown.
