"Penthouse perfect if not for light isolation issue"
We stayed 3 wonderful (if somewhat bright) nights in one of the penthouse rooms which (contrary to what we read in other reviews bellow) more than justified the 4 stars status.
The penthouse room is luxurious, comfortable, spacious, air-conditioned (both cooling and heating), offers a great view with amazing balconies, great bathroom facilities and expendables including robes and slippers and for what we felt was a very good price.
The hotel itself is lovely, situated in a very nice neighborhood - not in the middle of it all but well withing walking distance to the main attractions as well as to several tram and bus stations.
The staff was nice, welcoming, polite to a fault and very helpful.
We did not try the hotel's breakfast but there are several nice restaurants within the very block.
The only one hindrance was the light isolation issue. The numerous windows in the room are all heavily curtained to allow very good light control save for one, which for some unfathomable reason is covered by a very thin (though stylish) curtain which offers very little light isolation and thus renders the entire array of other light isolates near useless. This would not have been such a problem if our vacation wasn't in June, when the sun sets around midnight and dawns around 3:00am. We were told by the staff that this is an issue with all the penthouse rooms.
We enjoyed our 2-week stay at the 4-star Westcord Art Hotel. We were there for business, and it was walking distance to our venue in the Westerpark neighborhood where we worked. The room was modern and funky and very comfortable. There was enough room to stretch out and relax or get work done. It was very clean, and housekeeping was great. Breakfasts were above average.
only a short tram journey from the center of amsterdam, this hotel is situated perfectly; catering to both those who want a quiet stay and those who want to party in the center. Rooms were cleaned every day, and the staff made our stay even more enjoyable. Lovely pool area which was extremely clean and relaxing. Overall, a very reasonably priced hotel.
Staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived the hotel and staff provided very useful information in Amsterdam.
Hotel is not located in city centre, we took 30 mins from city centre to hotel by tram. Information provided in tram station is sufficient so it is easy to reach.
However, the hotel is about old, you will get what you need there anyway, except the fridge.
We stayed 3 nights, check is was easy, the room was big and nice, there is a smart tv too. Phone was not working at all, they forgot to activate it. Customer service was not as good as the facilities..
This hotel was really very nice. If you are worried about security, you can put those fears to rest. I stayed in the room with my friend who arrived later than me. They called me to see if they could let her in. When we arrived at the hotel late at night we had to use our room key to enter the main doors. The room is modern, clean and a good size for two friends. It is a bus ride away from the action by catching the 48 bus in front of the hotel. Note that after a certain hour the 348 runs but makes a lot more stops but you will make it to the hotel. Just get off at Hempoint on both. There is also convenient bus/train transportation to the airport. We learned the hard way that when leaving the airport, take only taxis in the first row of taxis. All others are hacks that will over charge you. We learned this by talking to our hotel front desk clerk who was very helpful.
The hotel also sells bus passes and can help you to schedule your public transportation around what time you want to be wherever you're going.
This hotel is drug free so no bringing back your stuff to smoke at the hotel. They will charge you if you smoke in the room. The heat in our room didn't work and they gave us a space heater that warmed things up. They made sure to accommodate our every need even offering to let the bartender heat some food because they didn't have a microwave available. I highly recommend that you try this hotel. It was a great experience from start to finish!
This combination of 4 residential neighborhoods lies west of the 5 concentric canals surrounding the city center. Westerpark's brick buildings and green spaces are popular with artists and host many cultural events. Kinkerstraat street in Oud-West features many ethnic cafes and small shops. Most city attractions, including Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, and Red Light District are within 3 km.
