Nice and helpful staff

I really enjoy my stay there. The night guy, Matthew was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean. The breakfast was excellent. I just had to take tram 2 to the center. It was a 20 minutes ride. At night I just had to take bus 358.

Hotel not as expected!

Posted 16-Apr-2014
Pros: Location!
Cons: Most things as above!
Location: Not bad at all. There were several good facilities within walking distance - famous Vondel Park/eating facilities/ shops/bicycle hire
This break was booked with my child for his birthday ( a cycling trip). Our break was booked through Expedia for flights and the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel (West Side Inn) was not as expected and shown in the photographs on the site- misleading. The bathroom and the bedroom's ceiling was spread with damp fungal. It was certainly not a great site. Furthermore the bedlinen were not clean and contained lipstick marks etc.... Sadly this was not the place I would recommend to anyone. It also sounded like it had a bad reputation when my child and I visited a restaurant close by. The owner of the restaurant kindly asked if we wanted to change, but this was on our last night. As we had previously booked with yourself in summer to Amsterdam at Wyndham Hotel, which was of a different level, and that made us rebook Amsterdam trip again. Sadly, the hotel although not cheap was of poor quality. I wonder if you should be promoting such accommodation through your site? We also had a problem with the taxi that was booked for airport. Wrong transport was organised, etc. Overall, it was not the best place to go to relax in the evenings with my child. No drink facilities within the room either!

Nice hotel

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Room was quite big and clean. Full wifi access. Staff helpful and really friendly. The hotel is placed a little bit far from the center but if you like the nature and enjoy walking in the park, then VondelPark is just few minutes away and definitely worth visiting. The only thing which disturbed me a bit were loud conversations of people living next door.

Great value for the money paid

The trip was amasingly cheap and for the price paid i belive this hotel did the job very well. It's a decent hotel, clean and quite easy to commute to central station. You will only need to walk 5min to the tram station and you will be at central station within 15-20min.Would definitely recommend.

Exceeding expectations for price category

Posted 05-Apr-2014
Cons: more variety of food will be definite addition, not all people are fan of pizza & junk. Control for insects in the garden will make it much pleasant.
Location: 2 minutes away are couple of big supermarkets, and few restaurants. did not explore beyond this
I spend two nights a week in Amsterdam and need affordable and comfortable option. I was worried how it will look like as this low price. specially reviews are not all encouraging. But I found hotel is indeed exceeding expectations. For example . comparing to IBIS Hotels, room was much larger, fully equipped private bathroom, and they never failed to clean the room. And most important it was third of the price (113 euro IBIS to 40 euro for West Side Inn at the time I booked it)

Nice hotel ok distance away from dam square

Posted 02-Apr-2014
Pros: Nice hotel, quiet, relaxing
Cons: Windows to be open and also a smoking bit inside
Location: Not in a great location but if you want to escape to madness in dam square its good as its 5 mins walk from tram station and takes 20 mins on tram
Good hotel, not in the best place for a hotel though, also i thought it was very dissapointing we couldnt open our hotel window, there was a window but you couldnt open it, which was very annoying but everything else was great.

Friendly staff, but not great overall.

Posted 10-Mar-2014
Pros: Staff
Cons: Towels and tea
Location: Mentioned in review
Staff were mostly friendly and helpful, food was good and available anytime from a little italian cafe. our room had stained carpets, stained curtains, stained towels which were thin and small plus there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room. but used as a cheap alternative to paying inner city prices it offered easy access to tram 2 which went through all the main attractions in Amsterdam. we bought an iamsterdam card for 3 days got us unlimited travel on the GVB public transport which went everywhere. Also free entry to van gough, the Amsterdam museum, the artis zoo (well worth it), Ajax stadium tour plus about 30 other attraction's.

Only a tram ride away from the centre.

Posted 07-Mar-2014
Pros: Pleasant staff and pleasant room.
Cons: Euro plumbing.
Location: Whilst there's not the most amount of things in close proximity, everything Amsterdam has to offer is a short tram ride away.
Nice, clean, comfy room; pleasant staff who, much like most of the population, speak impeccable English; and only a 15/20 minute tram ride away from the centre.

Exactly what we needed, basic but ideal.

Posted 28-Feb-2014
Pros: Location and cleanliness
Cons: Do not disturb signs to avoid cleaners entering room when not needed.
Location: Not alot in or around the hotel but close to trams.
Very helpful and polite staff. Room was cleaned everyday. Location very close to trams to city centre.
