Never again...

Posted 03-Jul-2014
Pros: Jose the front desk was fantastic.
Cons: Absolutely everything! Cannot believe this kind of hotel with this amount of mould and uncleanliness can continue to run.
Location: Close to tram but definitely better hotels in the inner city.
Now I'm not one to complain unless there is a valid reason. Upon arrival to the hotel we were greeted by a staff member. Went to our room and everything seemed great, clean decent room. Air con definitely DOESN'T work however. Big whoop can deal with that. Once going to sleep however I roll over, only to be completely cut on the leg by a sewing needle lodged into the bed! At this point it is 1030pm. My partner and I proceed to the front desk to inform staff of the issue and my bleeding leg. Jose at the front desk was fantastic at sorting the issue and did offer a room change however it was one without windows which we did not want. He did send a worker to inspect th bed and found no more. However the following morning after Jose had given us complimentary breakfast for our stay, we were greeted by an unprofessional, rude, condescending staff member who did not have the time or care to give us what was stated after THEIR mistake. I would not recommend staying at this hotel at all. Not even if desperate. If it hadn't have been so late and unable find suitable accommodation after the needle incident we would have been out of there. I do hope the management read this and speak to the member of staff that was on the front desk of the morning of the 3rd of July. He was absolutely appalling and I can gauruntee I was not the only guest that thought so....

Disappointed overall

Posted 29-Jun-2014
I stayed 3 nights with my family and we were all unsatisfied with this hotel. Here's a summary: Pros: Located in a quiet neighbourhood, customer service is fine, take tram #2 to downtown area takes 15-20 mins Cons: Ceiling had mould, no room ventilation control, a lot of noise (could hear when people were taking a shower or flushing the toilet, door was cracked, bathroom door handle came off, too much light entering room when sleeping I would not recommend staying here.

Disappointing experience

Posted 22-May-2014
Pros: That I did stayed there only one night.
Cons: A lot, the rooms apparently need upgrade
Location: Location was convenient for me.
Hotel on the pictures by the website looks nice but the reality is cry far different. Reception desk is one table. Hotel room was a decent size, bed setting was bizzare - middle layer was the highest. The room did stink by mould, wardrobe with no doors, bathroom ceiling moulded as well.

Great Hotel

Posted 25-Apr-2014
Pros: Everything as it is a nice hotel.
Cons: Nothing all was good.
Location: The location is in a nice place. A bit far from city center but a minute walk from tram that takes you right in to city center.
A really good hotel. In a lovely location. Very clean and tidy place. The staff are really helpful. Has a lovely garden.

Room condition was terrible

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: All of the above
Location: Nothing that close, you have to take tram, which wasnt a problem for us.
Room had three big water stains on ceiling, and yes in the a.m we were awakened by drip, drip, drip... No WIFI the whole 48 hrs we were there, my teenage daughters had to be in lobby at late hrs to access wifi no shower curtain in bathroom or towel bar. thats standard in Europe, we were told??wow key card system was down, so we had to be let in our room, and had to wait a half hr to get in

You get what you pay for!

Pros: You'd never know this hotel was right next to a busy dual carriageway, there was barely any noise at night.
Cons: Looks a bit dilapidated, needs some TLC.
Clean room. Several things broken (aircon, bathroom door handle), but nothing to worry about. Beds were comfortable enough, with decent sized pillows. Only word of warning would be that this hotel is a fair hike from the city centre. We walked back to the hotel on the 2 night we stayed there and it was a pleasant walk through the Vondlepark. It is around 4.5km from the Museumplein. We had the pizza there one night, but ate away from the hotel the rest of the time (TIP: there are a few supermarkets close to the hotel, where you can stock up on snack/drinks and save on the extortionate prices in the city).

Nice and helpful staff

I really enjoy my stay there. The night guy, Matthew was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean. The breakfast was excellent. I just had to take tram 2 to the center. It was a 20 minutes ride. At night I just had to take bus 358.

Hotel not as expected!

Posted 16-Apr-2014
Pros: Location!
Cons: Most things as above!
Location: Not bad at all. There were several good facilities within walking distance - famous Vondel Park/eating facilities/ shops/bicycle hire
This break was booked with my child for his birthday ( a cycling trip). Our break was booked through Expedia for flights and the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel (West Side Inn) was not as expected and shown in the photographs on the site- misleading. The bathroom and the bedroom's ceiling was spread with damp fungal. It was certainly not a great site. Furthermore the bedlinen were not clean and contained lipstick marks etc.... Sadly this was not the place I would recommend to anyone. It also sounded like it had a bad reputation when my child and I visited a restaurant close by. The owner of the restaurant kindly asked if we wanted to change, but this was on our last night. As we had previously booked with yourself in summer to Amsterdam at Wyndham Hotel, which was of a different level, and that made us rebook Amsterdam trip again. Sadly, the hotel although not cheap was of poor quality. I wonder if you should be promoting such accommodation through your site? We also had a problem with the taxi that was booked for airport. Wrong transport was organised, etc. Overall, it was not the best place to go to relax in the evenings with my child. No drink facilities within the room either!

Nice hotel

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Room was quite big and clean. Full wifi access. Staff helpful and really friendly. The hotel is placed a little bit far from the center but if you like the nature and enjoy walking in the park, then VondelPark is just few minutes away and definitely worth visiting. The only thing which disturbed me a bit were loud conversations of people living next door.
