Upgraded

Posted 28-Feb-2015
I'm assuming we were upgraded due to expedia but we ended up in an Executive room. I wish we could have stayed longer. Robes and slippers in room. Only wish hair dryer wasn't attached to bathroom wall. Hotel is right across the canal from the train station. Shopping is right around the corner and restaurants. Came in at night and things didn't shut down early which was nice.

Good centrally located hotel in Amsterdam

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Great location and friendly staff
Cons: The mattress was a bit thin and uncomfortable but OK.
Location: Great location within walking distance of all the major Amsterdam attractions.
An old, but well maintained hotel across the square from Centraal Station. Very friendly staff and easy check in when we arrived. We requested a late check out and they offered us a free 1.00pm check out as well as later options which involved a seperate charge. The restaurant facilities was nice with a good selection available, again very friendly staff.

Nice hotel close to shopping

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Checked in early which was great also had a free room upgrade. Room easily accessed and very nice. Only issue is I read about a swimming pool but was not told about it or couldn't even see a sign for it. Overall had a lovely stay.

Try not to get run over by a tram or bike...

I genuinely enjoyed my stay and i'd certainly visit again. Friendly and hospitable staff, clean room, nice sauna and pool - not to mention the hotel is right opposite Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Very expensive for a cheap hotel

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Good point: location Bad points: cheap looking, we had a very cold room and couldnt warm up the room Very expensive for what it is The room was in a corner so more like a closet type and had absolutely NOTHING to do with luxury Very small pool and not always open No proper staff for the Spa (I don't think they actually care about their spa services as it took me 1hour to have information about it - don't bother asking reception as they don't know) Reception desk is really slow so you need 3min to check in And I could go on...

Nice hotel if you upgrade

Posted 17-Feb-2015
We stuck with the standard double room. Our room was not cleaned after we left it at 10am and returned at half 4 with no fresh towels. Our view consisted of a brick wall. No sunlight. Flat pillows, heavy duvet and two single mattresses pushed together for a double. Lovely hotel lobby. just stay in the modern part

BEWARE Illegally tried to debit my card every day!

Posted 16-Feb-2015
When you stay Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam you have to sign a pre-authorisation for 75 euros. BEWARE in my case they just took whatever they wanted from my card at €125 per day without authorisation. The excuse was they hadnt realised the booking had been pre-paid but this still doesnt excuse the fact they are illegally taking funds out of someone's account when they only have authorisation for 75 euros. The manager has apologised but it caused my card to be blocked by the bank with no access to funds whilst abroad and there is nothing worse than this and it makes all other things like hotel condition irrelevant if you cant trust them with your credit card.
