Close access to the train station, not much else

Posted 26-Aug-2014
Pros: Location to train station
Cons: Most of the interior needed updating.
Location: Central to the train station and not far from tourist destinations.
This hotel is good for someone who mainly wants to be right across from the train station and light rail stop. For the price and star rating of the hotel however, I was disappointed in the quality of the room. The necessities were there but the carpet was worn, the room was dark and everything looked dated. Other reviewers remarked that they would stay in the modern wing and perhaps that would have been a better experience. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you just are looking for ease of access into and out of the city by train.

Nice hotel close to all amenities in Amsterdam

Posted 19-Aug-2014
Pros: The location, friendly staff
Cons: Igniting in rooms
Location: Dam square, canal trips, hop on/off tourist bus, train station, shops and other attractions close by
Booked a superior room, which was OK, but a little on the small size for the price and the window overlooked another part of the hotel, making the room very dark. Free internet worked well for e-mails and downloading maps etc. did not book breabkfast as there were numerous places to eat close to the hotel.

Very helpful staff

Posted 19-Aug-2014
Pros: Great location and excellent staff.
Cons: Signs clearly naming the hotel. It's confused with the Victoria Plaza. The receptionist told me it's a common problem.
Location: Right in the middle of caf├ęs, restaurants and tourist attractions. Very close to the shopping district, just a minute or 2 walk away.
The hotel couldn't be any closer to the station and is an ideal location to explore the city and surrounding area. The staff are very polite and helpful, at no point do you feel like just another number, they actually talk to you like a person. Can't comment on the food and restaurant as I didn't try these facilities.

Very convenient location

Posted 17-Aug-2014
My room was soooooo small, basically it was the size of a single bed, with a small desk at the end of the bed, it doesn't even have any space (even on the floor) for me to open my suitcase. But since I am travelling alone, it's fine, the room is surprisingly quiet. Location of the hotel is excellent, piratically across the street from the train station (where all the tours, hop on hop off buses / canal tours starts. 2 minute's walk from busiest street, 5 minutes' away from red light district. Staff are really nice.

Dear Kelly, Thank you for your review of your stay at our hotel. The "grand dame" Victoria was built in the 19th century. Its rooms come in all different shapes and sizes indeed, sometimes smaller than American/Canadian standards but acntually quite common for older European buildings.Nevertheless, I am pleased to read that despite the room being smaller, you enjoyed your stay with us. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future, we remain, kind regards, Annette

Nice hotel, was upgraded to executive room! Tea making facilities was dirty from previous guests & had to wait 4 hours for clean towels as they forgot! All good apart from that. Right opposite train station, not noisy very good looking out on hussel & bussel of Amsterdam! Recommend Flame Restaurant!, left out of hotel to next street good English breakfast & evening food!!

Great hotel in a good location

Posted 13-Aug-2014
When we arrived at central station by train from School airport , it was great to just walk out of the station an see the hotel across the road and water. It's on a busy junction of cars, trams people and bikes. We stayed in the urban wing facing the central station and it was a nice view and quiet. You can catch all the trams on all the different lines from in from of the station but you can walk to Dam square in 5 mins or turn the other way and walk to the start of the 3 main canals

Excellent Hotel but...

Posted 04-Aug-2014
This was my second time staying at this hotel. On checking in we where asked if we would like to upgrade for free to an executive suit which got us early check in and late check out. We had booked an urban room and where promised the upgrade would also be to an urban suit. This was not the case. Our room was in the older part of the hotel but was still very nice so although slightly disappointed it wasn't the urban we where grateful of the early check in and late check out, plus the bed was huge. The hotel is opposite the train station and almost opposite the grass hopper so very central. If staying here I would recommend an urban room as they are very new, fresh and modern. The older part of the hotel is still lovely just dated. Sadly the spa in the hotel was under repair so we couldn't use the sauna, I think that you should be made aware of this on booking or at least checking in as this was one of the main reasons we rebooked this hotel for our second stay. I was very disappointed to say the least. The service in the brasserie needs to improve but other than that I love this hotel. It's rated a 4star but for me it exceeds this. I would really recommend!!!

Dear guest, Thank you very much for giving such extensive feedback regarding your stay at Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam. Feedback, whether positive or not is always much appreciated and discussed with our staff to continue to learn and improve our services. I'm very sorry to read about the fact that our sauna was under repair during your visit. Unfortunately it is not always possible to notify guests in advance about these circumstances. Your comments regarding our staff in the brasserie has been shared with the department manager, our apologies if the service was not up to standard. Needless to say we are very pleased to read you were satisfied with the rest of your stay. We hope to be able to welcome you back on another occasion. Kind regards.
