“Good hotel for the money.”
The hotel is quite far from the Central Station, however that is the only minus I could see in it. It's on the canal, right in front of Blue Canal Tours Stop, close to Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. Rooms are nice, really good bed and a huge bathroom. Very satisfied overall. Some things like WiFi and breakfast you have to pay extra, but after all it's EU:) You have to pay extra for everything:)
“Pluses and Minuses”
The Pros: Fantastic location for tourists or holiday/business mix; large room by standards of older European hotels; very helpful front desk staff; high-quality modern furnishings; one of the best beds I've ever slept in. If I were going to Amsterdam for a romantic break of more than 3 days, I'd want to spend at least half of a day in that bed with the balcony doors open and hearing the trams passing by. The Cons: Room maintenance should be better - a bathroom drain (the shower I think) is not properly trapped, resulting in an unpleasant odor in the bathroom; the Asian-influenced "modern" style of the rooms, with dark walls and silk screens of Audrey Hepburn (or other '50s and '60s celebrities) has become passe; those passing trams that might add to the romance of an afternoon interlude may be decidedly less romantic at 6:00 a.m. They didn't bother me, but light sleepers may want to ask for a room on the other side of the building.
“Ideal location for art lovers.”
The Park Hotel is a great all round choice if you are looking for comfort and a convenient location. It is in a great position at the heart of museum district and a short stroll to the centre of town and the canals. It also boasts a very pleasant reception area and one of the coolest cocktail bars in town,
“Happily go back”
Really friendly staff and extremely helpful
“So comfortable!”
I used the unpublished rate finder and got a great deal on this hotel. The restaurant is a terrible value for the cost for breakfast. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. Beds were so comfortable and exactly what we needed after a long day of flying. If you go to museums, use the concierge to get tickets. Lines get long fast and with a ticket you can walk right in.
“A hotel in a great location!!”
This was our second trip to Amsterdam. The last time we stayed, we were situated more central- minutes away from Dam square and not too far of a walk from Central station. This time round, the hotel was located more south, on the tip of Vondelpark but a bit of a walk from the station. i would recommend getting a tram if travelling with suitcases,. The area is beautiful, with a canal and lots of greenery and places to eat. This is the more classy and picturesque side of Amsterdam, well away from the seedy, busy red light district. Great for all types of people but like I said, a good walk from central. However you do have the Van Gogh Museum just round the corner! The Park hotel had friendly and attentive staff and we got a room with a balcony which was great! However the room could of been designed better, bit of a squeeze considering it is a 'Superior' room. the room was clean enough however we did get a sewage smell coming from the sink, shower, toilet at times but we didn't make a complaint. The beds were very comfortable and got great sleep. I would definitely recommend this hotel for location and if your staying in Amsterdam for a short trip.
“Lovely ambience and excellent service”
This hotel was in an excellent location to see the sights, near plenty of places to eat and drink. We arrived on Friday night and there was a band and DJ in a nearby square which was a benefit. The only complaint was that we requested a double room and got a twin. They did put the beds together, but as one was against a wall it did not make it easy to get in and out of bed. I loved the fact that they had a library that we could use when relaxing in the lounge.
“Convienent location”
My wife and I spent two nights at the Park Hotel prior to taking a cruise. I chose this hotel based on location and the fact it was a few dollars cheaper then the nearby Marriott. Based on other reviews I took an Executive room so we would have a completely separate bathroom. I found the room to be large enougth, although not quite as large as an American hotel, and the bathroom was as advertised. I reserved the room with the non-refundable rate and paid for it several months early saving some money. The staff was helpful but not overly friendly. Because we had an overnight flight from the U.S. we arrived at the hotel at around 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. We were first told that our room would not be ready for 2 hours. The hotel did check our luggage. When we came back at around 11 we were told check in time was at 2. We did get a room at 1. The concierge was very helpful in helping us choose a restaurant for dinner which was not in the tourist area. He was eager to help and was very cheerful while working with us. As mentioned in other reviews internet access was very expensive at 19.50 Euros a day. I did not use it. I would recommend this hotel for anyone vacationing in Amsterdam.
“Great location”
This is our second time to Amsterdam and this hotel, and I must admit that if we were to come back we would be staying here again! Can not fault the location. Room was great but didn't eat in the hotel as it was a bit pricey.
“The Parl Hotel - Really nice but some basic flaws”
The Park Hotel is a lovely hotel, great location. We stayed in July 11, We decided to do a road trip so after travelling through France / Belgium and Holland was looking forward to getting to the hotel, chilling out over a cold one then going out exploring. When we arrived, I went in to ask where I could park my car, no offer of the hotel car park was offered - but a private company around the corner - 68 euros per 24 hours (we were staying for 3 nights !) Obviously tired, had to go and park up and get unpacked. However when I went back to reception after unpacking, 1 of the guys on reception (and apologies, I didnt take a note of this guys name) advised us of a park and ride place, 10 minutes away at the Olympic Stadium that charged 8 euros per 24hours. We took our car there, fantastic, nice safe and secure. One of the other flaws for me, was the design of the hotel room. It looked fantastic but the shower / toilet area were behind glass and when you had a shower the water ran into your room which whilst I thought it was funny watching Mrs H slipping all over the place, could have led to a nasty accident. Apart from that, the trip was let down by the cost of everything and the constant rain - nothing the hotel could have done. Weve now been to Amsterdam but if it hadnt been for the Take That concert at the end of the trip, I dont think Mrs H would have ever wanted to have gone back. Best advise, take lots of money, nothing cheap about Amsterdam ! :-(
