“Convenient 'Stop Over' Accomodation for Schipol Airport, Amsterdam”

Due to an early flight from Schipol Airport my friend and I decided to stay within easy reach of the airport for the last night of our trip. We travelled from the City by train from Central Station to the Airport and then caught the free shuttle bus to the Novotel which took approximately 15 minutes ( also stops at two other hotels). On arrival we found the reception staff very efficient and friendly, like the majority of the Dutch the staff spoke English very well. The hotel is old, the corridors and rooms could do with redecorating and furniture updating but our room was clean and comfortable and had the most fantastic shower of four jets. Once in the shower I didn't want to get out! Free wifi in our room was excellent as travelled with our iPads. Hotel has a large pool, sauna , steam room and an English Bar but we did not use these facilities. Breakfast buffet offered a reasonable choice of cereals, pastries etc. Cooked breakfast was also available. A comfortable stay.

“Great hotel, but minor issues”

Firstly, if you need to fly in or out of the airport, this is a great place to stay. There is a free bus to and from the aiport that leaves every 15-25 minutes from your hotel doorstop. (The trip takes about 12-15 minutes) We picked this hotel due to its pool facilities. When we arrived, a sign said that the pool/spa/sauna etc was closed on weekends for maintenance. This was untrue. It was permanantly closed and we could not use the facilities at all. If expedia had put this on the hotel booking page, then we would have picked somewhere else. Especially as my pregnant wife bought new swimmers especially for this trip. This may not mean much to you reader as this is due to be completed sometime at the end of summer, but then again the sign was wrong once, so perhaps it wont be done!?! Apart from that, it is a good hotel. The food is fine (breakfast is overpriced but then again, it is at most places).
