“Top class canal-side hotel”
An extensive hotel but with a reasonably 'small' feel thanks to its pretty unique use of various old canalside houses to form a characterful and comfortable hotel. Good service, comfortable room with excellent canal views. Very helpful front desk. The hotel restaurant was OK for dinner (not cheap) but pretty poor and overpriced for breakfast. Cooked breakfast options not good and a totally leathery ommlette was served ! That apart, excellent stay and brilliantly placed for the 9 streets area, Anne Frank House and canal trips to major museums.
“Beautiful Hotel in Amsterdam”
This is the second time I have stayed at Hotel Pulitzer. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Amsterdam. The location couldn't be better, very central. The property is beautiful. The staff at this hotel is beyond superb! Very welcoming and helpful. The buffet breakfast was included in the price of my room I would however chose to partake even if it wasn't. It was marvelous and the dining area is lovely.
“Good enough for me, George and Brad!!”
Very nice hotel and well located found out it was used for the film Oceans 12!
“Great hotel, terrible bed”
The hotel was ideally located for Anne frank Huis and for easy access around Amsterdam. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely polite and courteous. The only issue was that the bed was too soft and so sleeping was intermittent at best.
“Not impressed with their 'Executive Rooms'”
Considering this is a 5 star luxury hotel, our 'Executive Room' was far from comfortable. Three of us shared the room and there was a double bed located on a mezzanine which could only be accessed by very step wooden steps which I can only describe as ladders rather than stairs. My 80 year mother is unable to climb stairs and I explained this to the porter who said that a bed would be put in for her on the ground floor on the room, which when it came was not a normal bed but a camp bed, something that you would expect a child to sleep on not an elderly person. Very disappointed with the room. Also we had a bad meal in the hotel restaurant. Two of us ordered steaks and we had to saw our way through and the meat was chewy, we complained about it as it was not edible but they did nothing but apologised, they didn't provide us with an alternative meal and still charged us the full price for the meal. We have stayed in numerous 5 star hotels in the past and the accommodation in this one doesn't match any other we have stayed in and we were very disappointed for the price that we paid.
“The best we have stayed in in Amsterdam”
excellent all round.
“Unavailable room”
I booked a room with 2 twin beds on 4/15/2011 and arrived 8/12/2011 with my father. We were given "the only room they had" which had a queen bed. Luckily neither one of us is very large but I'm 44 and my dad is 70 so this wasn't exactly the sleeping arrangement we were looking for. The toilet ran all night for 2 nights and I had to ask the front desk on 2 occaisons to have it repaired. Finally I got a handwritten letter of apology shoved under the door while we were out. On the other hand the location is great and the concierge was excellent. They really made sure we had a good visit to Amsterdam.
“Amsterdam in style”
Hotel Pulitzer has a fabulous location, excellent service and a really individual, quirky selection of character rooms - all different! The concierge service was second to none and the hotel's own 100-year old canal boat gives you a tour in style. Only yards from the Anne Frank museum and some truly excellent places to eat and drink (try "Envy" a few doors south) ... wish I had an excuse to back.
“Love the Pulitzer”
There is nothing bad to say about the Pulitzer. Service is excellent, the beds are the most comfortable that I've ever slept in, the rooms are lovely, and the area is ideal. Great neighborhood restaurants and shopping, beautiful canal views. It is one of my most favorite hotels of all time!
“Best example of top notch SERVICE in Amsterdam! Great Location!”
My daughter and I just spent over a week at the Hotel Pulitzer. The Front Desk Staff was exceptional as was the Concierge Staff, the Restaurant Staff , the Espresso Bar Staff, the Porters, and everyone we came in contact with during our stay. I became ill during the trip and they were genuinely caring and wonderful! The location was fantastic with shopping galore just a block away. Cafe's and Restaurants at every turn (but the Front Desk or Concierge make great suggestions). The Anne Frank House and Dam Square are also an easy walk away. Make sure to reserve a Canal ride on the Hotel's boat - "Touriste" You will enjoy it as much as Winston Churchill did! Our room overlooked the Canal and we melted into the beds - so very comfortable. Honestly, by the time we left we considered the Pulitzer Staff part of our family!

Canal Ring, Amsterdam, Netherlands: The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic muchphotographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.
