“Good hotel for the price”
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is close to the museum district and the park and the tram stop is just a couple of blocks away. Room was a bit small, the bathroom was tiny and the bed was very soft. But the room was clean. The price was reasonable relative to other hotels in the area. Would consider staying there again.
“three reasons not to stay at this hotel”
First, no reliable internet. The best I can do is sit in the lobby (where I just heard them discuss rooms with ‘better’ connection. My ‘suite’ has no connection. Second, the picture of the suite in their expedia ad has nothing to do with what you get. Maybe they have one like that on the first floor. I got two little rooms on the fourth floor, connected with a little hallway. Total waste of money. Third, the shower is dangerous. It stays cold, so you increase hot water, stays cold, so you turn off cold, gets scalding hot, so you add cold, stays scalding hot, finally goes to not freezing, not scalding, so you step in, be careful, one minute later it is freezing or scalding again, I slightly burnt my neck, like a sunburn feel in just the two seconds it took me to jump out. Personnel sort of sucks too. I check in and they send me to house number 13, neglecting to mention that there are two doors and I should take the door on the right, and neglecting to give me instructions for wifi, and there is no cable, so I have to go back for instructions with username and password, except the wifi doesn’t show up among the networks. But the lady behind the counter tells me another guest complained and she gave him whatever she gave him and he didn’t come back, so there musn’t be a problem after all. I haven’t come back either.
“Great budget hotel with a kind of special touch”
Gives you more than what you pay for. Rooms are nice, cozy, with more attention to details than what one would expect from a 3-star hotel in Amsterdam. Designer combined a feeling of an antique shop with a bit of modern touch. Would stay there again - wasn't feeling any better in some other hotels which were twice more expensive.
“Definitely going back!”
Wonderful hotel. Very nice room (albeit a small room, but in a comfortable/cozy way).
“Good location - Not impressed - run down”
Excellent location. Near the centre Leidsche Plein and Vondel Park. The hotel has been devided into too many small rooms with very thin walls...You can hear every step and slamming door! In one room the sink was very, very, tiny, not to bathroom standards....TV tieny tiny. Rooms idem dito
“Comfy”
Quiet, nice, freindly staff, very relaxed.
“Not the greatest”
The location was good, convenient by foot to the historical part of the city, but the room was very small and shabby.I was expecting more for the price paid, but I loved the town.
“Philosophers revenge”
The staff at this hotel are extremely friendly and most helpful. The hotel itself is extremely tired and in need of refurbishing. It's a bit overpriced for what it is. It's in a good location if you are interested in the museums or the park. With the convenient tram, one can move around the city easily.
“Very charming hotel”
Very charming hotel with a "philosophy" theme. Our deluxe room was very large and comfortable, with paintings of various famous philosophers. Staff was very helpful and polite. The hotel is located in an original Amsterdam house and is not a chain-type business. It is ideal if you are looking for a more authentic experience. Would highly recommend.
“good value”
We requested early check in when we made our reservation. Upon arrival everything was all right and they directly gave us a room regarding our request of early check in. Although there was not much space in the room, it was enough for us two. The bathroom conditions were very good. The room was cleaned everyday. One thing to remind the upcoming travellers, the heating system was turned off upon arrival, you have to turn it on by yourself.
