“We dont recommend this hotel.”
Hotel room is very small. We stayed nonsmoking room but room smelled like ashtray. There has been a renovation hotel which has been very disturbance. We dont recommend this hotel.
“Great Location! - Average Rooms”
Rooms smelt a little funny when we arrived!, Also at the time they are doing renovations, so every morning about 5am we could hear very loud drills vibrating our room which was very frustrating!.. Showers were horrible! mmm Great location tho, right in the heart of the city!
“Great choice for Amsterdam.”
The Hotel Amsterdam provides very good value in an excellent location. Good, clean rooms, courteous staff, and it sits atop a traditional Dutch restaurant. Its at the Dam Square with numerous restaurants, shops and the infamous Red Light District just steps away. And the trams pass right out front. A great base from which to see and enjoy the best Amsterdam has to offer.
“Would pick another...”
No free internet and a ridiculous charge for mediocre breakfast buffet not the value we were expecting. Considering this hotel is on one of the major streets in Amsterdam; it l is virtually impossible to access if you are driving. Really wish this was clearer in the hotel description. There are, we discovered, better more accessible values in the city. Loved Amsterdam. Hotel Amsterdam just ok.
“Great Hotel but small rooms”
This was a great hotel, good location, and hotel staff was wonderful. The rooms were a little small but your not in them much so I would still recommend this hotel highly.
“great location but...”
GREAT LOCATION ,CLEAN BUT SMALL BATHROOM SMALL WITH GLASS DOOR TO ROOM AND UNDEFINED SHOWER WITHOUT CURTAIN OR STALL AND EVERYTHING IS WET AND TIGHT ROOM SMALL BUT ADEQUATE FOR 2 PEOPLE AND FOR NONAMERICAN HOTEL STAFF IS PLEASANT BUT NOT WELL INFORMED HOWEVER WILL LOOK INFO ON COMPUTER AND ATTEMPT TO HELP PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AT DOORSTEP AND EASY TO NAVIGATE EVERYONE SPEAKS ENGLISH
“great location”
Great location. Very good value.Friendly staff. Would stay there again.
“Complain to get what you want”
The first room they gave us was a dingy small room where the bathroom door banged into the bed. There was very little natural light due to the fact that there were catwalks above our room. If you craned your neck, you could just see the colour of the sky. However, after we complained we were given a larger, bright room overlooking dam square. The staff was fine. The hotel was clean. The beds were so so.
“Great location - but noisy”
Have just returned from a wonderful week in Amsterdam. The hotel is in a vibrant area of the city but our room at the end of the first floor overlooked a busy and bustling shopping street which even with double glazing made it noisy - paticularly at night. That said the room was very comfortable - the water leak in our bathroom we found on our arrival was sorted very quickly and we had no further problems. The staff were very helpful and the hotel is situated in a great location just by Dam Square.
“Great Location”
Excellent location and easily accessible from Central Station. Tram to Dam Square, but review Amsterdam's transport system before travelling as it is.very user friendly. Hotel was an excellent base for enjoying Amsterdam and staff were very kind and helpful.

Dam Square - Central Station, Amsterdam, Netherlands: The bustling heart of Amsterdam, this district attracts hordes of visitors teeming from Centraal Station to Dam Square and its beautiful Nieuwe Kerk (14th-century). The oldest part of town, Oude Zijde, is famous for its Red Light District, but the University and the docks bring a different kind of colour and buzz to the narrow streets.
