Near Rembrandt Square

Posted 07-Oct-2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Get a room on one of the higher floors. Since the first floor rooms (2nd floor American) are too close to the street noise.
Location: Lots of great outdoor patio bars in Rembrandt Square just a minute down from hotel. Try Canalotte restaurant across the way for great Italian food.
Very nice hotel in a great central location. Everything is about 10 minute walk away. The tram is just outside too in case you want to use it instead of walking this beautiful city.

Great long weekend getaway. Great pkg deals availa

Posted 24-Sep-2014
Pros: Very centrally located to trams, buses. Clean rooms, very quiet and with no outside noises. Windows kept a lot of noise out.
Cons: The distinction between Hampshire and Eden hotel when booking. The glass doors to bathroom, Lighting in the room Very difficult to read in that light
Location: Rembrandt Square, so centrally located, many shops and cafes. EZ transportation to everywhere. Very friendly people and not like us rushed Americans.
Booked through Expedia.com for good package deal. Very confusing that Rembrandt Hampshire and Eden hotel share same front desk. Had thought I booked a canal view room, found out when we arrived we were in the Hampshire side w/o a canal view. Staff was pleasant and helpful when needed. Gave good ideas of place to visit and eat.

Fantastic location, friendly staff and large spacious rooms. Only negative part being the grubby dirty carpets at room entrance.

If only it didn't smell so badly!

Posted 19-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed for 6 nights in room 486. The sizes of the bedroom and bathroom were fantastic. The location can't be beat either. Unfortunately, that is where the praises stop. The entire 4th floor and our bedroom had a horrible stench. We sprayed Frebreez, lit a couple of candles and ran the air 24/7. It still smelled at the end of the week. Not plesent to wake up or come home to. Maid service took care of linens and cleaning daily, but did not pay attention to some details such as: replenishing the coffee bar, clogged bathroom sink and a disgusting toilet brush recepticle. We thought that the toilet brush and receptacle were the origin of the odor at first. The basin was full of yellowy orange water. We also found the single square sheets of toilet paper in the bathroom to be annoying. This was not our first stay in Amsterdam. We both agree that while the room size and location are pluses, there are better places to stay for the cost.

Disappointing hotel decor and cleanliness

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Good location for the center of Amsterdam and 3 minutes walk from a tram stop.
Cons: Decor, lighting, air conditioning, cleanliness, staff engagement with guests.
Location: There are many bars and restaurants in the square and it is 10 minutes walk to other places of interests and canal boat stations.
In the corridor leading to the room, the lighting is poor and stale air was trapped there as no air con was switched on. Inside the room there was coffee stains up the wall and a number of stains on the carpet. Inside the bathroom there is mold growing up the sealant of the bath. For a less than average breakfast the charge was €18.5 per person. A much better breakfast was bought in a coffee shop 3 doors down the road for €8. To the side of the main reception, there is a telephone around which paint is peeling of the wall. This was supposed to be a 4 star hotel and it was more like a 2.5 star version.

Good location to Rembrandt Square

Posted 14-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
Good location to Rembrandt Square, but if I were on holiday... I'd prefer a hotel directly on the square and not on the side street (alley). The staff are attentive and helpful. I would stay here again.
