“good value and comfort within 10 minutes of the great museums”

Clean, functional and central - and good value for all of that - only one night and we didn't eat there so not sure how much of a judge I can be!!

“Lovely stay and not too far from town”

It did feel like a high-end 4*, but for the price it would be a very cheap 5* so if you compare it to another 4* it is great value so not complaining! The Hotel is situated in a nice neighbourhood, so if you're not planning on being out until 3am every night then it's good to get out of the very centre of town. The tram is frequent and only takes about 15/20mins to get into town, you could walk which would be about 45/50mins. You are near to places like the Van Gogh museum (10/15mins walk) and other museums, the Vondelpark isn't too far away either so location is fine. The room was spacious, bed large and very comfortable (though I would advise notifying the hotel in advance your preference of beds as double come in 2x single beds as well). Staff were very attentive and polite, booked tickets for us and gave us a nice overview of the complimentary map. Room was turned-over twice daily. Another highlight was they had the room ready for us at 11am, they would have happily held on to our bags until 3pm if it wasn't free but it was a nice surprise after a very early flight. Overall a very pleasant stay that I will likely repeat.

“Pleasant business class hotel”

I booked this hotel for a Fri-Sun trip with 3 couples as a birthday treat. The hotel was in a mainly residential area about 10 mins from the Van Gogh musuem and 15 from the Rijksmusuem. Tickets for musuems, trams etc could be booked at reception which was handy. The number 16 tram stopped about a 5 min walk away so everything we wanted was in fairly easy reach. The area was quiet at night which was great - 'Dam can get rather noisy at weekends. The hotel was a good quality business class hotel. Our room was very spacious and immaculately clean and the beds were very comfy. We had hoped to have our 3 rooms close together but in fact we were on different floors. It wasn't a major inconvenience but would have been nice. The staff were business-like and efficient but not over-chatty.

Area recommendations
There's so much to see in Amsterdam it's hard to suggest just a few things. Get walking is our recommendation! Just wander around. There are loads of small squares and lanes tucked away and lots of cafes in which to people watch. One great joy is to stop at a bar or cafe and have a plate of Bitterballen with a coffee or beer and watch the world go by. And try the poffertjes - plates of little pancakes dusted with icing sugar. Mmmmmmm! We loved Spui on a Sunday afternoon as it was pretty and chilled and the relaxed atmosphere was lovely. There's a Sunday art market called Artplein too which was interesting and is open between March and December. On Saturday there was a small farmers market near Museumplein which sold some delicious local foods. And there was lots to taste-test too... We bought some bread, old cheese, young cheese, sausage, fruit juice and the BEST raspberry tart ever and just sat on the green outside the Van Gogh musuem - what a feast! Get a canal-bus pass and tram pass and try different routes at different times of day and always, always, always chat to bar staff, tram drivers and canal-bus captains for information. The locals are the friendliest we've ever met. They love to tell you about places to go and things to see. Amsterdam isn't just about dope and the red-light district. It's eclectic and electric, modern and traditional and more than anything, fun!
Getting around
Use your feet! Or even the trams and canal-bus services. And for a laugh try the pedaloes or as they are called in 'Dam, canal-bikes.
Must see
The galleries and musuems are great but for me the best part about Amsterdam is... Amsterdam. Get out there and look up, down and around, not just in shops and museums. The architecture is beautiful, the squares are clean and the locals very friendly.

“Quiet Amsterdam Hotel”

This hotel was perfectly nice, in a quiet and very affluent part of Amsterdam. It took a tram ride and train ride to get back into the centre of Amsterdam. Reception staff and hotel porters were helpful with our questions. The room was clean and had all the amenities you would require.

Area recommendations
Stay in the centre if you want to be near to all the amenities

“Nice hotel”

I have to agree with other reviewer that this is not a luxurious hotel. However everything was very clean, comfortable and spacious. We also got a room that we requested. The location is not very central, although it was quite nice to escape the crowds of people in the city center and the neighborhood was very pretty. It takes about 10-15 min walk to various museums (Museumplein) and less than 10 minutes to the tram that goes to the center. Overall a nice hotel and I would stay there again.

Getting there
The bus (197 Connexxion) from the airport to the city stops at Museumplein so it is not necessary to take the train from the airport to the central station. The hotel is a short walk away.

“Not a 5 star hotel”

Poor housekeeping service, did not pick up items off the floor or restock in-room coffee every day. Very slow room service, took 45 minutes for an iron to be delivered. Turn down service was strange, apples were delivered to the room but nothing else was done. Great location close to tram, away from the inner city in a quiet very nice neighbourhood. Some excellent local restaurants within walking distance. Overall it was an ok hotel but would not qualify as more than a 3-4 star rating.

Area recommendations
Depending on desired location, this was actually a great location if you want quiet and easy access. The tram is inexpensive for a 24 hour pass. This hotel is not within walking distance to the main tourist areas
Getting around
Use the Tram, it is cheap and very user friendly

“One of my favorites.”

As in the past, I enjoyed my stay there. The only thing was my disappointment that a hiking pole left in the room was not returned to me. A large item, like a hiking pole, was not found by housekeeping when the room was cleaned? It was left in a very visible area. It was not returned and logged in as "found in the room".
