“other reviews misleading”
rooms are TINY. located very far from the center. rooms clean and wifi is great.
“Great hotel”
We had a great experience at this hotel. Its about 15 minutes by bus and a bit more by tram into the city centre, but the surrounding areas were also really good for eating and drinking. So, if you dont mind using public transport Id stay go for it. The service was great and we had the breakfast one morning, which was a good choice of hot and cold buffet. If you have breakfast in the city centre it would cost you more, so I would definatley reccommend it!!! The people at reception were lovely and gave great advice for transport and opening times. The room was serviced everyday and everything was spotless. Great hotel and will definatley be staying here on my next visit to amsterdam!!!
“Far from everything”
The rooms are small including bed bathroom. Hallway is wider than room! Far from city center and attractions but there is a good coffee shop around the conner, cheap smoke. Its 9 stops to red-light area by train .
“Great for the money; Too much for Parking”
For the price received, three people sharing a three bed room, and being on the train line into the center of Amsterdam was great. Parking cost too much, the neighborhood looked shady at night but seemed fine in the daylight.
“good hotel but far out”
good clean hotel, quite small rooms, good value. Quite a long way out though - 30 min by bus. Nice staff, if you want a nice hotel on a budget and are happy to travel then Blue Square is good.
“Outside city center”
Check in went very smoothly and the person who signed us in was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel room was adequate, although a little tight. The breakfast downstairs was handy and the coffee lattes were great. The hotel was some distance from the city center, but accessible by tram which was down the street. Not much happening in the immediate area, but we spent all our time visiting the downtown area. Would consider staying there again.
“Pleasantly surprised”
The hotel was confortable, accessible and its staff very professional and friendly. Would gladly stay there again when next time in Amsterdam.
“Good city break destination.”
It was very easy to get from the airport to the hotel and everyone we came across was extremely helpful. Amsterdam is a lovely city, but very expensive for food and drinks.
“Best Western Blue sq Amsterdam, very good”
Nice clean hotel, would recommend. Be sure to know thats it's good 20 minutes No 14 tram ride into the centre. It was not a problem to us. Would recommend that you buy a train and bus pass on your arrival at the airport. We bought a 96 hour transport pass, this gave us an open return ticket to and from the airport and 96 hour pass on tram, metro and bus service.Would also recommend that you get the maps before you go and study and make notes of the trains or trams you need to catch to various places. Amsterdam is extremely dark in the evenings and i found it impossible to read the map in the night with the poor lighting. If you are going to Anne Franks house buy your ticket on line, the queue is always massive. When you book on line, you walk straight in, you will save yourself an hour and a half queue. The main line station has lockers to lock you baggage away, we found this very useful to leave our bags there having checked outour hotal in the morning and were not flying out till he evening. Hope this info has been useful to travellers, watch the bloody bikes, they will run you over. Roger L
“OK hotel, location a problem”
Read the reviews before booking the Blue Square so was aware the hotel was about 15 min from the centre of the city. As a Londoner who travels an hour or so each day to/from work I didn't consider the time/distance a huge problem. However I was a bit perturbed on arriving at the hotel from the airport to be told by the taxi driver that the area wasn't very safe and I should be careful at night when travelling to/from the centre. So took a taxi on a few occassions when getting back to hotel late, though rest of time took the trams/bus, and no problems. Buget around Eur 20 for a taxi into town vs Eur 2.60 for public transport/Eur 7 for a 24 hr ticket . Aside from location, the hotel was fine as a base: room was clean, hotel staff pleasant and no real issues with the hotel bar cost of breakfast, which was Eur 10, pricey for what was on offer. Would I go again? Probably not, location did prove a problem in the end and a hotel closer into town would have been more convenient.
