Great view, shame about everything else

Posted 27-Jul-2015
Pros: The location and the view
Cons: They need to get some more staff and properly train the ones they do have
Location: Fantastic location right by a canal, Museumplein, Vondelpark and Leidseplein so it has access to most things and bus/ tram links to everything else
I booked the room at the last minute so was very pleased to discover that my room faced out on to the street in the direction of the splendid Rijskmuseum. It was just a shame that I wasted 40mins standing at reception waiting to check in without even being acknowledged by staff. By the time I reached the front there was a far bigger queue behind me so I can only imagine how long they all waited. The staff were clearly overstretched and I really felt for them however it was the worst possible start to the stay. There was no mention of the wait when I finally reached the front and the girl who did the check in took much longer than necessary as she continued to attend to multiple different things while midway through my check in. The room itself was very small and badly designed. It had an incredibly strange smell and also the TV did not work. I tried to call the reception numerous times throughout the night however none of the calls were answered so I gave up. I was not advised at check in that it was necessary to manually check out in order to receive the refund E30 deposit. When I came down to reception to hand in my key a very stressed member of staff barked at me that I had to get into the huge line and wait to check out. After the wait the night before I was not able to risk another wait as I had work meetings to attend. This meant I had to leave the hotel and potentially foreit my deposit for no reason beyond the hotels own horrendous inefficiency.

Gutes Hotel in zentraler Lage

Posted 25-Jul-2015

Kanalbåtar just utanför hotellet.
Trevligt bemötande vid incheckning och bra frukost. Det var aningen lyhört i rummet men hotellets läge kompenserar.

Good location with lots of attractions near by

Posted 21-Jun-2015
A nice hotel close to transportation but a great geal of this fine city is within walking distance. Hotel offered a good breakfast but there were many food options available close by . Staff was very friendly and helpful . The only complaint was the design of the shower , the door had no seals which made it difficult to shower without flooding the bathroom .

Disappointed!!!!

Posted 19-Jun-2015
Pros: It is in a good enough location with good restaurants, museums and attractions near by on a good transit system.
Cons: All of the above mentioned.
The place leaves a lot to be desired. As a comparison, we are now in the prime location of Rotterdam paying 40% less for a room that is far superior and really not even on the same planet with the Best Western. How they get away with charging as much as they do for a room in which you can't turn around without going out into the corridor, beds that are not 'king', as requested and not comfortable, very dated and dirty carpets and curtains, etc. etc...., is beyond us. Shady characters hanging around the entrance at all times is a bit of a concern, although, some of that is to be expected in Amsterdam. Staff is efficient and friendly, breakfast is good, although, they could do without all the processed meats and cheeses! A country with cheeses known all over the world should be serving those! .....and deli meats instead of the real thing?

Great Place near Twn Center

Posted 17-Jun-2015
Pros: Close in.
Cons: Put a wood door on the bathroom.
Location: On a major canal, right next door to Rijksmuseum, 1 block from Van Gogh museum.
We were in town on holiday and wanted to stay near the town center This hotel was perfect - affordable, near good food choices, on a major canal, near public transit. Bathroom was a little small and we're not sure why they do a frosted glass door instead of wood so you can have privacy. But overall a great place to stay.

Very expensive basic accomodarions

Posted 10-Jun-2015
Staff ran from warm to cold ( Front desk was very very busy); room was airy but plain; sirens were loud on the main drag at night. If this is the only room you can find for under $250, take it, but otherwise look elsewhere.

Great location

Had some trouble getting a room that wasn't the size of a closet. Once we moved twice it was fine. Breakfast should be included for the price.

Gute Lage. Sehr schlechter Schallschutz!!!

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: Das Frühstück(nicht inkl.). Die Lage.
Cons: Schallschutz an den Türen installieren.
Location: Super Lage . Zentral. Museen, Restaurants, Sightseeing.
Laut knallende Türen die gesamte Nacht hindurch. Stadt interessant und lohnenswert. Nette Menschen überall. Viel Kultur. Schöne Grachten.
