“Good Hotel - Great Location”
My friends and I have just returned from a weekend break to Amsterdam where we stayed at the Marriott. The Hotel isn't the prettiest from the outside but inside is quite a contrast, lovely decor and a clean, well maintained rooms. The location is great, it is surrounded by a good selection of bars and restaurants that will appeal to a wide variety of people. There is a beautiful (if a little pricey) Restaurant around the corner called MO MO's. The Van Gogh Museum is just a short walk away, along with a fantastic high end shopping street that is every girls dream. There is a good bus link from the airport for 4 euro, a taxi will set you back around £40. This Hotel offers a really great base in Amsterdam for a reasonable cost. I would absoultely recommend.
“Immaculate Hotel”
I have stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions and would love to go back. It is very clean, 5 star standard, staff are friendly & helpful. Rooms are spacious, clean and very well decorated. The beds are king size and very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.
“One Small Problem”
I booked and paid for a double room 3 months in advance and when I checked in they only had a room with a king size bed. Other than that the trip was flawless.
“Great location, will stay again.”
the hotel location is great, and the midtown steak house within the hotel is very tasty and cheaper than London. nice room, good service, helpful hotel stuff, good free map. 5 mins to museums, tram to central train station, 10 mins walk to the absolute city centre, Dom square. 5-10 mins walk to bar, restaurant area for nice food. 5 mins walk to shopping area. off street parking at the back of hotel 4 Euro / hour day time, evening is free from 12-9am. we parked the car from 8:30PM to 9am cost only 13 Euros. which the hotel underground parking cost a lot more.
“Geat location”
Hotel Marriot Amsterdam_ Just walk outside the hotel and immediately feel the warmth of the city, the happiness of young people, the flowers, and the excitement. Too bad the hotel beds were too soft that one does not feel rested in the morning. The Gym was great and the hotel restaurant had a great selection of food for breakfast. Toiletries, on the other hand, should be more accessible, I had to ask several times for different items, a towel, a conditioner, etc. the last day they placed a mouth wash; could that have been done daily or at least every other day? The first night, we forgot to leave tip, so we did not get shampoo (I did not know these things were so much related). The room was very well cleaned and organized. The charges were very clear and exactly as they advertised it. The internet on the other hand was extremely expensive and the computer service was poor. The hotel people were very helpful, attentive, and willing to give you information (not to pull your luggage). Their willingness to help with information, to get tickets for tours, to call for taxi services etc. compensates for those little toiletries details. I would recommend The Marriot Amsterdam.
“Fine hotel in a great location”
Thanks to advanced booking with Expedia we had a terrific room at a terrific price. We had just spent four weeks in Africa and we delighted to spend four days in this large and comfortable room. One minor complaint was, unlike all other European hotels, there was no kettle in the room for making tea or coffee and the hotel had some of the worst and most expensive coffee I have ever had. We ended up buying a thermos and asking the cafe for hot water. Cheap on our part but cheaper on theirs.
“Excellent Location”
Excellent Hotel. Food and beverages are pricey. Plenty cheap and good food and beverage options nearby.
“Good All Rounder”
Let me start by saying that the hotel is in a great location (close to the biggest clubs and a lot of other night life). It is also very smart and comfortable. But after booking a TWIN ROOM, I was told at check in that only a KING SIZE room remained, this was an issue for my friend and I. After forcing the issue a bit, suddenly a room did become available as to our request. Which suggests to me we were being fobbed off at first. This however would not stop be staying again, just be aware.
“Chritical Traveler”
The rooms are small but well designed and comfortable. They are somewhat frayed at the edges. The bigest problem was inadequate heat as the winter started early in Europe. Poor windows, not insulated. After complaint an excellent space heater was provided but the hotel's public spaces had no heat at all, had to sit in the lobby and restaurant wearing a coat. The restaurant is quite good, had excellent stakes.
“Great location and extremely comfy beds”
This is a great hotel, within walking distance off all the major sights and sounds. Amsterdam is actually smaller than it appears on the map. It has a really nice bar and lobby area, with spacious rooms with all the amenities. The beds were seriously comfortable. The only thing I'd recommend would be to request a room toasted the back of the hotel as my friends reported the traffic being quite loud at the front. From centraal station get the 1,2 or 5 tram and get off at leidseplein. The tram stop is just across the road.
