“wonderful experience”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Eden American hotel. The entire staff was more than willing to assist you in any way possible. The room was larger than expected and very comfortable. The bank of computers for guests on the second lobby was very convenient. Directions to museums and other sites were answered quickly and cheerfully by the desk clerks. who provided maps to your destination. This hotel was close to everything and the neighborhood charming and friendly. Taxis were waiting at the door or a tram was only a few yards away. Offices to change money were across the street. I had a wonderful stay here and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

Area recommendations
I wouldn't limit myself to just one neighborhood in this beautiful, exciting city. The Leidseplein area, where the hotel is located, provided a vast array of restaurants, shops and local attractions for almost every taste. Museums were just two blocks away. It's quite easy to venture out and see much more of Amsterdam. I walked to the Dam square and red light district finding stores and small quaint shops all along the way. There are restaurants for almost every taste and prices were reasonable. One word of caution though: Watch out for the bicycles! They make up most of the traffic in this wonderful city and it's easy to find yourself in the bike lane.

“amsterdam, my new home.”

The hotel staff was very nice and attentive to our needs. Their resturant was nice. We had a late breakfst. Good service there too. Hotel staff was very good about cleaning the rooms every day. Luckily a I read several reviews before booking this hotel and it was beneficial. During my stay I traveled the entire city and the othr hotels locations didnt compare. The hotel had everything we needed that we forgot like plug adapters, etc. When I go back I plan to stay here again. We recommended a room with a canal view and we got what we asked for.

Area recommendations
Lesplein. Everything your looking for is here. Nightlife, resturants, coffeshops. Also any other place you want to visit is a walk, tram, or bus ride away. We walked from this hotel to central station on more than one occassion making stops along the way.
When to go
We tavelled nov 18 through nov 25.
Getting around
Getting around is very easy. Tram, bus, or subway. We walk a lot. Everything seemed to be in walking distance for us.

“Great location right at Leidesplein.”

This beautiful, old hotel is so impressive from the outside. Small lobby but really friendly, helpful staff. After one night in our first room just above street level, we asked to move to another room. They moved us to an interior room, much quieter. Location can't be beat. Easy access to museums and transportation. Plenty of choices of food/drink right in the area. It was a great operations base for our action packed trip to Amsterdam.

“Impeccable! And you travellers better keep it that way!!!”

The vast majority of travellers to Amsterdam have only one (maybe two) things in mind, and this hotel is most definitely NOT for them. This hotel is chic, classy, with a standard far above the usual one would find in and around the city. The decor is warm and inviting; the room/bathroom clean and well-maintained; the staff second-to-none (if you're there for the reasons in my paragraph above, chances are you'll be acting like an idiot, and serves you right if you get treated the same way back); surroundings is what you'd expect from a city-centre hotel (don't be a fool - how often would you find one with a gorgeous view in this price-range?). I was very impressed, and still am, thinking back. Fully recommended many times over!

“Perfect Central Amsterdam Hotel”

The Eden Amsterdam American Hotel was a lovely last stop on our vacation to the Netherlands. Staff were helpful and friendly. You did not have to ask for help; they were every one - forward thinking. Room was clean and fresh. We also ate in the hotel restaurant and had a delicious lamb dinner. Great waiter staff who watched over us without hovering. On our next stay in the Netherlands, we will be staying here!

Central near the train station and central bus lines. Made travel much easier to purchase day tickets.

“Highly recommended”

In a city where too many "hotels" are in reality badly converted houses with narrow steep staircases and cleanliness problems, it is without doubt really worthwhile to pay more for a genuinely enjoyable experience in a real hotel. Having previously paid over the odds to live uncomfortably, I was taken aback by the contrasts offered by The (Eden) American, which actually offers real value. Plus points: 1. Location. Let's face it, most locations are really pleasant and central, and The American is no exception. It is particularly good for the museum district, Vondel Park and the funky atmosphere of the Leidesplein. Excellent for trams as well. 2. Facilities. Well, there's no pool or gym, but they have a fantastic concierge service, nothing seems to be too much trouble. I am unsure whether or not the business area was supposed to provide free web access to residents, but it wasn't well managed and didn't work most of the time. 3. Room / upkeep. Everything in tip-top condition. I was in double room which was well sized with separate bathroom and sitting area. All was clean. Beds a bit soft for me and - this is the only demerit - the tea / coffee etc. was cheap and a bit stingy. Bathroom, gels etc. all good. 4. On site bar and restaurant. The Cafe Americain was great, and they know what they are doing with food and drink. GO FOR THE BREAKFAST, at 15 Euros it's cheap. Unlimited quality foods + prosecco if you want it. The downsides? I've mentioned them. Go stay there!

“A hotel with character”

I was very pleased with the hotel and service. The food was excellent in the Cafe Americain. My only disappointment was that there really wasn't a lobby. The location was great and in a really nice part of the city.

Area recommendations
I had so many positive experiences in Amsterdam so it is difficult to pick just one. The museums were great. The Jordaan was a fun and interesting area to explore. I loved being on the Leidseplein. It was convenient to everything I wanted to see and do.
